you know..the physical attributes of the Xenomorph which you think are the COOLEST and LEAST COOL?
Personlly, for me, I think that the whole "jaw within a jaw" that juts out to kill enemies is totally BAD-ASS and AWESOME! I have always LOVED it when the Xenomorph opens its mouth and that second mouth comes peekin' on out! :)
I ALSO loved the whole "ACID FOR BLOOD" idea, which was PURE GENIUS, so KUDOS to whoever came up with that one!
As for my "least favourite Xenomorph attribute"....i would have to say the large "back tubes" which most species had. I just always thought they looked lame, were too big, and completley unnecessary. They made the Xeno look LESS sleek and aerodynamic..and they looked stupid, like a 12 year old boy wanted to add race car parts to the Xenomorph's body.
So, what do you guys think are the Xeno's coolest and least cool features/attributes?
Acid blood was Ron Cobb's idea as far as I know.
Favourite is definitely the long head.
Least favourite is probably the back tubes.
Personally, I like the tubes... :-\
Acid blood is pretty cool, also like the lack of eyes. Makes it all the more sinister, as does it's ability to move around so quietly despite it's size. That scene in Alien where it drops down behind an unsuspecting Brett is at least one of my favourite moments in the series...
Well, my favorite part of the design is the idea of plumbing/mechanical parts meshing with it, especially in the head. The headshape (that was gone from Resurection to AVPR), the whole thing really. I cant really think of anything I wouldnt like in the design of the Alien and Aliens creature, and not much I wouldnt like about the Runner
This image represents everything I find amazing about the Alien design, and I love him with or without the dome, as long as its the same or near same design

The body is important to me too, the original and Aliens one, since theyre identical, had some really cool Gigeresque designs on it, which never returned after Aliens

Personally, I like the tubes... :-\
They look great on the classic alien design by H.R. Giger but by the time of Alien Resurrection where it was completely redesigned there was no need for them. They just look like floppy rubber appendages and I don't know why they were even included.
The worst excess for me is the Alien Queen's 'stiletto heels' in Aliens.
The worse thing for me has to be the fin tail from A:R. Best thing, not really sure.
The inner jaw. That was always the part that stood out 100% the most about the Xeno to me, just another mouth used solely to puncture tough surfaces and to kill. I love the biomechanical design, the acid blood, the tail...but dat inner jaw, tho
As for what I like the least? The legs. More specifically, I don't like the leg design from the first two films, and actually think that the others in the series adding multiple joints to the legs helped make it a little more inhuman. The change also allows the Xeno to move faster, jump further, etc.

+1000000000000000000. I actually didn't notice the lame "stiletto stripper heels" that they gave the Queen in Aliens UNTIL I was going to buy a Xenomorph Queen Christmas Tree ornament, and then I noticed that her feet looked like she was wearing 6--inch stiletto pumps like a stripper and I was like "WTF?!!!!" That was lame as hell. Way to make the bad-ass Queen look stupid. Whoever thought that idea up should be slapped (yes EVEN if it was HR Giger himself), but I think it was probably Cameron.
I never liked the Queen's extra set of floppy T-Rex arms that are 100% useless. Maybe they were too afraid to put tits on it, or wanted it to look more insect like. It looks ridiculous, though, and Giger would never design something so stupid.
Favourite parts, The head, the back tubes, the grin, Pretty much everything about the classic designs. but maybe the fifth dorsal appendage, The spiky one, is a bit much.
Not crazy about the skull tough. it's fine where it's at, but I want my aliens to be as faceless as possible.
And that elbow blade the aliens had in Aliens, I never cared for either.
I think Giger's original Alien has no flaw, but if I have to choose a favourite part, I think it'd have to be those double-thumbed hands... they just really resonate with me for some reason.
Again I think the original is perfect in every way, so for worst thing I'll cheat and say the chicken legs of Alien Resurrection. :P
FAVOURITE PART : The original Giger design as seen in ALIEN. Perfect in every way, from head to tail, an incredible achievement and still my favourite movie monster.
LEAST FAVOURITE PART : Everything that came afterwards is lacking in one way or another.
As far as the Queen's stiletto heels, i like it because it goes for the same sexuality theme, and the inner arms i just like in both t rex and the Queen, it breaks the human form too. I think the Queen's feet (which were carbon copy of the original Alien;s feet, plus the feel) are great and much better than AVP's dino feet
As for the Queen not being like Giger's design, he had nothing but a praise for it and actually said he wouldve design it in similar way
"It's all beautifully done, everything, the designs and the way they're executed. The Alien Queen is also nice. She's a bit smaller in the face than my alien but my basic design was very well studied. She was frighteningly well animated. - H.R. Giger, Cinemafantastique Magazine May 1988
The Alien Queen is very complicated, like the way I would have done. I like how she moves - H.R. Giger, Sci-Fi Invasion! 1998
When I heard James Cameron himself designed the Alien Queen I was even more impressed by the talents of this versatile director - H.R Giger, Cinefantastique 1992
Anyway, as I said, as far as the original alien/Aliens aliens I have nothing substantial I wouldnt like about the design (I only didnt care much for the hands of the original and feet of the warrior), but as far as those redesigned Pumpkinhead aliens of the Resurection and AVP movies, what I hated the most about them, aside from making them fleshy monsters and throwing out all the biomechanicality, is the headshape

Paradoxically, the head is my favorite and the skull is my least favorite.
I love everything about Giger's Alien, it's flawless. The skull hidden under the translucent dome is an amazing touch, the fact that you only get a slight glimpse of it makes it a lot more eerie. I also love the double thumb on each hand and even the dorsal pipes.
As for my least favourites: Resurrection - no need to explain. I also don't like the 3 finger look in Aliens, nor do I like the forearm blades. I'm not a big fan of the double jointed dinosaur style legs either. I like my Xenos with much more humanoid aspects.

_______
Can't fault the original Giger alien in any way. It's beautiful and terrifying.
Least favourite would be the attempts to make it look more monstery - so the lumpy long string bean fingers in Aliens, the dinosaur legs in Isolation (there's a reason in Alien3), the arm blades, the lack of dome - all the things that detract from the original superior model.
I think the queen is an amazing animatronic creation, but I dislike the design - again too much of a monster/dinosaur/insect construct. The glass teeth are cool though.

Come on now. We all know the skull is way better than Cameron's edgy revision for Aliens.
Nuh-uh. I prefer the sculpted texture of the Cameron/Winston head, although I wish they'd kept the translucent carapace.
I always loved the smooth dome, the inner mouth and some of the bio-mechanical features (arms), and i don't think i really dislike anything.

Skull = No.
The domed head was better than the ridged head in my opinion. It surely looks scarier and serial killer-vibe, while the ridged dome gives it a more warrior-like. I liked Alien 1979 legs more than Aliens, because of its human-like feature, while Aliens have a more monstrous legs. The biomechanical features made us think of a somewhat perfect hybrid between biological and mechanical things, but also somewhat terrifying. The inner jaw and tail are cool looking, too(tail fin are only good in some case, like underwater scene, otherwise it wouldn't appeal to me).

It's just a bit of an on-going joke with some of the members. Skull vs non-skull. It's all light hearted. :)
Bah, Hicks is teetering on the brink of violent insanity. You people wouldn't listen to a mad man, would you?

I surely would not.
#AntiSkull
I hate the mouths of the AVP aliens and the stupid long ass tail that picks up the Predator.
Actually the worst thing is that bloody stupid name.

What name?
Xenomorph - just seems to me to do a disservice to the Giger art. 'Alien' is just better - vaguer and more dramatic.

As has been pointed out here many times (and I'm sure you know), that name only means Alien Life Form. The Thing, E.T., the guys in Close Encounters, and whatever that thing was in It Came From Outer Space are all xenomorphs (yes, with a small 'x').
People need to stop calling this thing a 'Xenomorph'! :D
Why? It's only identified with the capital A Alien anyway.

Because Gorman had no knowledge (apart from Ripley's report) of the creature prior to the mission. In his view, it was 'some damn alien life form'.
Ditto Hicks's reply of "it's a bughunt." If people knew what a (capital X) Xenomorph was, he might have said, "it's an eight-foot creature with acid for blood, and it's gonna take everything we've got to stop these things."
Eh? ???
Frost: Uh... A wut?
Clearly not trained in anything to do with what they're actually dealing with. At all. As a specialist unit this is a complete fael.
fial.
fail. lol.
Don't forget what Hicks asks next. "What exactly are we dealing with, here?" indicating he's willing to take her seriously but still doesn't know what she's talking about until she expressly describes it.
Who said this outfit was trained for situations like this? Oh yeah, Greenman Gorman - with input from Burke. lol.
These Marines have never encountered Aliens before. Never. Otherwise they'd know flame units would be pointless and it would be smartgun harnesses on everyone's shoulders. Or, after the initial sweep of the colony, they'd go back the Sulaco after finding no survivors other than a child and shitstorm the colony from orbit with nukes. They wouldn't even enter the processor looking for PDA owners. They know they're f**ked.
That is, if these marines had ever encountered Aliens before.
-Windebieste.
I fcking love the fact that the Runner/Dog Alien has full lips. While the alien's lips were always a bit translucent in the first 2, the third gave the alien more character imo. Even the original ideas from Giger, with the kiss of death etc, were so fcked up..I love it!
Lips all the way baby!
The legs after alien 3 are the worst imo. They simply belonged to the runner and not to human bred aliens.
Agree with windebieste. If they had encountered them before they should just bomb 'em from the orbit. The legs and the tails were messed up after Alien 3. Xenomorph also universally known as alien, too. Maybe they used this name because they will struggle if they said Internevicus raptus or Linguaefoda acheronsis as it's a long name. A simple xenomorph maybe fine and also a cool word for people.
Favorite: Insanely difficult for me to name any one thing. May have to come back to this.
Least favorite: Queen's stiletto heels comes in first. The Runner in #3 still having the usual human-based head structure, despite not being born from a human, also bothers me a lot.
Hmm... an alien with a canine face would have been spooky as hell..
