Title: Alien games for gameboy
Post by: cloverfan98 on Mar 17, 2009, 06:46:35 PM
Sorry if this is too broad a topic. I have an old GameBoy Color, and I was thinking about buying Aliens Thanatos Encounter, Alien 3, and Aliens Vs Predator for it. So I just wanted to ask if anyone here has played them and are they worth it?

I've played Thanatos Encounter on an emulator.  It's okayish.  Wouldn't spend too much on it though.  Some people will charge a shitload of money for even minor nostalgia.  I stumbled over Alien Resurrection for PS a few months ago and the pricks wanted $40 for a 10 year old second hand game.

$40! sh!t man that's bollox.

Alien 3 can be a little annoying at times.  Alien VS Predator is crap to be honest didn't think much of it at all.  Thantos encounter okish as SM said.  Id recommend em both of you really want to buy em but if you really want to know id download an emulater and try em on that first.  Id leave AVP out though.

AvP: The Last of His Clan isn't all that good. It tries to have a plot, which is more than most Aliens/Predator/AvP games have, but the gameplay really isn't very fun.

Thanatos Encounter is pretty neat, I guess. I've only played it on an emulator like SM, and it's okay. You have different characters and they have different abilities if I remember right, and if one gets captured you actually have to use another character to go rescue them or they're permanently dead.

More fool them i say.   I was going to get an atari Jaguar for Alien vs Predator, but the prices in some places were stupid.  So ive stuck to the Emulater.

Someone is selling Aliens Encounter and Alien 3 on ebay for a few 2 bucks each. Should I play them on a emulater first, or buy them?

I bought one of these years ago at a comic show that had the AVP game & 3 other games with it.  I'm not a gamer. But I had read on line it was very sought after.  The price was good...usually I'd seen the game by itself go for $40 on eBay. I think I got the system & games for $75. So I got it to go with my collection. I've never played it.

Same with PS2 I bought a used one to play Alien games on it. I have the Resurrection game & attempted to play it once. I didn't do very well...I definitely need to practice & learn the skills of gaming. :-\
I'd seen previews for it before or after the movie? (if I'm remembering it right it looked better than this broadcast...and I don't get the Ripley rocking business ???...I never saw that in my attempt at playing this)

This past weekend when I was at a movie show one of the vendors says the local Casino has an Alien slot machine. I looked on line and the ones I saw looked like the Roswell kind of Alien. I'm not a gambler but it makes me want to go just to check this out? ;)

Yeah i wanted it for my collection to but here in the UK the prices for them can be Little steep at times.  And when you find one in a reasonable price its either missing a pad, a cable or its tatty looking.  I love AVP for the jag i remember  playing it back in 1994 on a friends machine and i was hooked.  I also used to have Alien 3 for the gameboy back in the day to, i used to get into trouble at school all the time because i would play it in class etc.

Alien Resurrection Ive not played fully and it be quite honest I'm not a fan since i hate the movie.  But saying that i watched the movie on the youtube link you gave and it looks better than the movie lmao.  I might some day re-buy a PS1 and the Alien Resurrection game just to have a bash on it.  Did they ever release Alien Rez for the PC? or was it just a PS1 release?

AvP, I've only played the emulator but I found it boring as sin. Thanatos Encounter I brought for the GBC and absolutely loved it. It's fun and colourful and the best as far as portable Alien games are concerned.

Gosh...I don't know?  ???  I'm sure someone on the forum would know.  I'm gaming challenged :D

But sometime I hope to challenge/battle an Alien ;)

(I like how the last thing on that commercial is the face hugger flying at you :o)

Thanatos Encounter is worth the money, but the rest is not too good. I found AVP quite boring, but Alien 3 is a little bit better. BUT; if you want one of them, A:TE is the one you'll go for ;)

Alien Resurrection on the PS1 is awesome. It's got a lot of super-creepy parts and the gameplay is a blast, although the controls take a lot of getting used to.
