I'm a big making-of book collector and I highly recommend the Covenant art book (even if you didn't like the film). It's still a real shame the suits where never used, even minimally like for for close ups  :\ cuz they looks so damn good.

That hard surface design stuff from Jeremey is freaking bad ASS!! Love it! True industrial design craftsmanship.

Great sculpting by Gabriel as well, but I simply can´t except this to be a chestburster. Anyway, great job done by the artists.

Some cool new VFX concept art from Wayne.

Those concept matte paintings have a very Lord of the Rings/Isengard feel.

The pulse rifles were likely just place holders Jeremy put in the ammo locker. Was probably someone else's job to design the weapons and if those 3D models weren't available yet then he would have just grabbed something off the internet instead of wasting time modelling stuff from scratch.

Concept Art inspired by Giger?

Arnold Böcklin actually. The Giger painting was a homage to Böcklin's Isle of the Dead.

Oh! thanks for the clarification  ;D

Giger's version is one of the many paintings out there inspired by the original Arnold Böcklin painting of the 1800s. I think Giger's came out in the 70s?
Also I still wish they had based that scene more on his painting's aesthetic rather then the original one. Alas.

Apparently Dane Hallet said that they weren't allowed to base anything on Giger's non-Alien related work for legal reasons.

Böcklin's work of course wasn't an issue since it's all in the public domain now.

Btw...

Does anyone else has ever seen this design of the cathedral?

The structure seems to show some kind of religious symbolism. At the gates you can see two female figures with a very biblical look. Also, there are two other human figures on the Wall. I'm getting a very Ancient Greek vibe.

Maybe it's not too late for the Space Jesús! (jk)

The left arch looks curiously like a Xeno head too...

Whos_Nick

Where's the Xeno head?
