So Fox is hosting a 2017 Showcase event in New York. The editor of Joblo is heading down there, says expect to see some Covenant stuff.

man i just wanna keep reposting that Rachel video from Friends cause thats all i hear in my head anytime something new pops up about the possibility of this goddamn trailer dropping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is the showcase event later today then?
Unknown but I guess so. I asked when we'd expect to see his coverage but it's early in New York right now.
Yea I lived in NY for 3 months this time last year, if I recall correctly NY is approx 5 hours behind UK time. If it is today then footage probably won't be up until later this evening.
To be honest I'm not expecting to see any footage, just some descriptions and some such.
Yeah I reckon you're right.

Maybe a couple of stills with the actors perhaps, wouldn't surprise me, give me one of Waterston in a spacesuit.
Maybe they'll show the trailer first there, or at least a descript. 8)

I feel like I have been waiting for this trailer for too long! It seems like every other major film is dropping trailers for next summer left, right and centre! Spider-Man: Homecoming is going live later today and we have already had transformers and Mummy trailers.....where is this Covenant trailer!? Haha
I can only hope this event in NY will have something 😊
Hicks ? Did he see the trailer? ???
I don't think it's taken place yet.
Is there actually going to be a trailer?
At this event? No idea.
Where's CainsSon? We need an AVPG agent over there!

Well it'll be the classiest gore ever, coming from Ridley Scott.

Nope. Clip is a clip. Trailer is a trailer :) If they screened a trailer then it means it's ready to be showed.

QuoteI also saw some bits from Alien: Covenant, and I was grossed out and in love with it at the same time.
It feels more like the original Alien than anything we've seen in a long time. And everyone's fear and panic is palpable.
The new xenomorph is such an improvement over the Prometheus designs, there's almost no comparison.
Katherine Waterston plays her character, even before things go wrong, as someone uncomfortable with space.
Seeing her struggle to push through it all and do what needs to be done gives her character a ton of earned growth.
By the way, we were told the effects on Alien: Covenant weren't finished. I can't wait to see them, because it looked good as is.
(SO MUCH BLOOD YOU GUYS. Terrifying amounts)
Also, the cast bantered in the beginning in a way that actually didn't seem forced! And was crude as hell.
You really know, instantly, what everyone's relationships are from just those five or so minutes.
Both Logan and Covenant are going for hard Rs (f words and violence), but in both cases it didn't feel gratuitous at all.

From all these early descriptions, it sounds like the ALIEN vibe is BACK! :)
I wish someone could quantify how much blood, gore and violence compared with AVP Requiem. If its the same or more, I'm worried.
Quantity isn't the issue, it's how it's handled. AvPR was tacky.

I too am scared that they overdo it with blood just to reach some level of yukyness for the people in the theatres.
As long as it fits the picture im content with it.
the shower scene i dont trust, it feels a little Alien: R, the xeno's gets loose on the ship and then sexy young couples are being taken down like they are on camp crystal lake style, and everybody is surprised by the outbreak and all being picked off one by one, while a small group try to reach the escape pods or something.
I jumped the gun a little. Fox isn't making an official announcement about the trailer tonight but let's just say that Christmas is going to be bloody. ;)
It's pretty simple, if you choose to go graphic in a horrorfilm you gonna have a lot of blood. When you think about the Alien chestburster scene it clearly doesn't have enough blood to be realistic. It doesn't take anything away from that scene though, still and forever classic.
I really don't understand the worries. You're gonna get what you all wanted for decades. But this time it's probably more graphic because you know movie technology is better now so you can show more.
It should be intense and from what we heard today it is intense.

Whatever is coming the next days or weeks. I absolutely do not want to see those 15 minutes! It's gonna be tough if it leaks and everybody is raving about it but I refuse to watch it! I'll watch the trailer once or twice and that's it.
This sounds like it could be the bloodiest film on Ridley Scott's blood-soaked resume. Hopefully this is all balanced with being a thoughtful Prometheus sequel...

Could somebody get confirmation on whether the blood is practical or cgi? I understand that cgi has come a long, long way since AVPr but still... it doesn't beat practical effects.
I can confirm it was practical, they returned to the type of blood shown in the early 70's the bright red paint!
Just to say practical isn't always better, no offense ;)

Well that is exactly what I'm talking about. Digital blood squibs don't cut it for some reason. Fire and water looks great in cgi but awful gushing cgi blood even with a budget kills the movie for me. Rather have water bathed ketchup to be honest.
Come on Fox don't let us down. Release something, anything, 10 seconds today is all we ask. On the first day of Christmas fox studios gave to me, a butt-burster out of Danny McBride's Ass!

Man I'm excited! Nice to have "substantiated" things to go off now, and relieved that the reactions are all positive, the difference when things are glimpsed in context instead of merely on paper, so to speak.
Bring it home Ridley!
I've arisen from my Prometheus induced slumber for this moment of hype. Give us that darn trailer!

The trailer of the trailer at least...please...FOX? :'(
A trailer for a trailer is dumb. Just let it come out when its ready.
Kinda wish there would only be one early trailer now and one a month or so before release and nothing else.
Yes I know, but I'm thirsty for footage and news
If they play Bowie's Space Oddity over the trailer I expect there'll be an intense crescendo of strings near the trailer's end, looks like The Martian has indeed played some influence.
The hype is real!

Oh, today is going to be a long day.... (please release the trailer today, please release the trailer today...)
I really don't think it's going to be out today. We're looking at Christmas time, 21st to 25th before we see anything.
The War for the Planet of the Apes trailer (presumably the same one from yesterday's event) just hit, and that isn't out until July, so I'd say it's only a matter of time for this. Probably any day now between tomorrow and Christmas.
I'm going to apologize up front here for sounding sketchy as f**k here but the information I was given yesterday wasn't a case of "this is when the trailer is coming out", it was a "here's what I can give you, you figure the rest out. ;) "
That info also covered Apes and with the Apes trailer coming today and what I have to hand, I think I can safely infer we're not seeing the Covenant trailer until Christmas Eve/Christmas Day depending on your timezone.
Which also makes me think it's not going to be attached to Assassin's Creed.
Would happily be wrong though but that's where I'm leaning towards at the minute.
So trailer January 11th? Dat sux :(
Assassin's Creed is out on December 21st. It's a Fox film and stars Fassbender. My money is on that.

So, basically Alien, then. Alien had plenty of free-motion camera work in it, and then more traditionally structured shots, too, with A & B cameras and framed actors and fixed lighting. If anything I feel quite happy because this is something I loved about the first film.
Has anyone mentioned anything about sound, like quiet moments with no music, just breathing or organic, ambient noises, like heartbeats, versus moments with an obvious film score (or maybe some Mozart)?
Also: "...sugardick"?

QuoteThe jump in technological wizardry that aided Reeves was even more evident in director Ridley Scott's new look "Alien: Covenant," which arrives May 19, nearly four decades after the 1979 original with Sigourney Weaver.
This generation's aliens appear to be decades more slippery, relentless and unnerving than the 20th century originals. Katherine Waterston, the tall, slender actress who takes on the Sigrouney-esque role of "Daniels" in the current iteration, credited director Scott with keeping the set loose and giving the actors a lot of rein.
Waterston said Scott generally only wanted a couple of takes and that the actors were aided in imagining the CGI alien creepers by the use of puppets. "Then it was off for dinner," she said with a laugh.
And #AlienCovenant looks like a full return to the horror and shock of the original film. It's also gorgeous to look at.
PSYCHED for #AlienCovenant - footage we saw was awesome w/ spirit of the original in all it's bloody gory.
About the most terrifying teaser I've ever seen. Never going to outer space after #AlienCovenant. Yipes
Sooo, CG Aliens then.
What a pity.
As long as it looks good.
CGI Aliens huh? ...and my enthusiasm slips just a little bit more
Nothing wrong with CG guys, so long as it's handled well, and Ridley can certainly handle it well. Waterston mentions puppets here, wouldn't be surprised if they enhanced the practical puppet effects with cgi as opposed to complete cg characters.
QuoteTwo clips and a new trailer were shown for Alien Covenant. The movie has all the style in Prometheus, with its industrial Byzantine production design harkening backing to Ridley Scott's original movie. He introduced the clips by video, but star Katherine Waterson was in house to tell us a little more. Yes, her character is reminiscent of Sigourney Weaver's Ripley, but it's not clear from the narrative whether the two are related. The actress said that the inspiration for her bowl haircut in the movie came from her fellow Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them character Ezra Miller. Waterson spoke about how Scott gave her and her fellow actors Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup the freedom to work on the dark stuff in the film. "We'd then show him what we came up with, and if he didn't like it, we reworked it," said the actress about the actors' sci-fi playground.

I'm not terribly surprised by this (I'm sure Scott has said something to this effect about if he did another Alien film he'd use CG? Or was it Cameron?) and like I said earlier, as long as it looks good I'm a happy chappy.
He's alluded to that a few times if I recall. Can't remember the exact interview though. It seems he has always had somewhat of a 'problem', if you could even call it that, with the 'guy-in-a-suit' execution of days gone by.

Indeed.
I'm going to reserve judgement until I see the trailer. HOWEVER!--the scene with the trilobite and the Last Engineer was CGI, and that had me mostly fooled. If the digital effects look that good, then I think we'll have little, if anything, to gripe about.

Basically I'm just worried it'll look like the AvP movies in terms of movement. Too fluid, no weight, etc. It'll undoubtedly look better lit and textured, but still.

Are you a pessimist? If the rumour about 200 millions budget is true then A:C is 60-70 millions more expensive than Prometheus. It's more money to spend and make sure things will work. Prometheus was sometimes a bit cheesy in terms of designing department. But now they've got new production designer. New blood. Guys who worked on Mad Max as well. And regarding Xenos, it's not like we won't see practical effects. Yes we will. Everything will depend on the shots. Close ups will have non-CGI Aliens. I'm pretty sure.

Me too. But sometimes using old-school methods doesn't work. We will have both practical stuff and CGI. Everything depends on what works better for the movie itself. Besides according to press reactions new footage and trailer contain CGI-light.
Latest reports say liberal use of CGI, which means a lot.

Ce matin, j'ai eu la chance de voir en exclusivité le trailer et 10 minutes d'#AlienCovenant ! Rdv le 26/12 pour voir la bande-annonce 😉. It seems thdate the trailer is released has been revealed. 26 December according to this twitter user.
Yeah, was literally just coming to share this article that says the same thing: http://www.fanactu.com/actualites/cinema/6475/studio-20th-century-fox-nous-devoile-ses-films-evenements-annee-2017.html
QuoteUnlike other films presented during this event, Alien: Covenant has not yet shown its first images via a trailer or teaser (only a first poster has been unveiled so far) .. The surprise was therefore all the more great when we discovered a quarter of an hour the next Ridley Scott!
Direct sequel to Prometheus , Alien: Covenant seems so far away from it to give us instead a REAL movie Alien , what we had not seen for almost twenty years! Ridley Scott has clearly changed his tune since the first movie, certainly from the perspective of reclaiming the franchise whose fifth official album was entrusted to Neill Blomkamp. A new episode whose development now appears stalled ...
Ridley Scott announced in last January that Alien: Covenant would be the most violent film of the saga. From what we could see it does seem the case! It's simple, never have we seen so much blood and torn bodies (literally) in a film Alien! If you unfortunately can not say much more, it should be noted nonetheless that Daniels, the character played by Katherine Waterston recalls the words of Ellen Ripley ... The two heroines would they be related (mother / daughter)? It will still be a little patient before discovering! And by the way, note on your calendar: the first trailer for Alien: Covenant will be announced on 26 December!
Excellent.
When I asked earlier if she could say when the trailer would be released, she just replied saying their embargo ended on the 26th with a wink. From the info I'd been given, I inferred we'd be getting the trailer when the embargo ended which for the States is the 24th/25th. So perhaps 26th is the French trailer release.
Torn bodies. Ouch.
I think Ridley is really going for it with the gore and body horror. Just hope it's done for effect and impact.

Considering how Xeno Fifield looks I don't have high hopes for the execution, to be honest.
The 200 million quote is the only think that makes me pessimistic. That makes Covenant the most expensive R rated movie of all time, and if you add in advertising and all that, you have to figure around a 400 million break even point. That's a huge uphill battle for this film.
I still think the 200 million is gonna come out as bullshit since Prometheus didn't even make that before Home video release. It came close, but still, yeah, didn't quite make it. That is a huge budget for a niche horror movie to recover, and it certainly won't have Deadpool crossover potential. I am hopeful it makes that money back, but I think i would be even more hopeful if it has a Prometheus budget attached to it.
Where did that even come from? Wikipedia?
I doubt it was 200 million.

We also know Odd Studio in Sydney did a lot of practical creature work.

Yes, once you go past the $150 million mark on an R-Rated film you start getting diminishing returns the higher you go. The only way that $200 million figure could work is if it includes marketing/advertising costs.
Production cost wise, $150 sounds reasonable, albeit still very high for a film such as this.

I can't honestly tell if it has more or less star power than Prometheus. I have no idea what actors are popular (because actors aren't priority in why I watch something beyond B-movie greats). Like I know Fassbender will make a decent chunk of change but I have no idea about what the pay scale of any of the others would be, so they might in my mind be saving money there (I assume Theron was fairly expensive).
I think 120-130m is a comfortable budget point for an Alien related Hard R horror movie. It's a proven number. Maybe the Alien name attached will bring in more people, maybe it will hurt it (as AVP:R is maybe the worst film ever made).
I want it to do well, and a not astronomical budget will only help with that.
We don't have any Oscar winners in Covenant as was the case with Prometheus.
We also need to consider that it is a little cheaper making a film in Australia than the UK. They essentially got more bang for their buck thanks to the exchange rate as well as all the government grants and tax rebates.

This movie is gonna be way over $200m as soon as advertising begins to kick in. Even Prometheus was close to or over $200m when you factor promotion and advertising into it.. How much over is a good question. Anywhere from half to about equal to the budget seems to be average.
It has a bit less star power than Prometheus. If Covenant had a Charlize Theron then it'd be a different case. Hell it'd be a different case if Franco had a main role. Maybe McBride's.
This movie will make big bucks because of the Alien name. Ridley Scott's name. The fact that it's good. $600mm despite its gory and bleak nature.
Star power ain't anything. Alien had virtually none.

Production budget could be the same as Prometheus and the film could still be "bigger" in scope. Remember they are saving on super-star salaries plus the big boon of filming in Australia as I mentioned above.
But lets not get into Hollywood "accounting", we're derailing this thread.

It's be interesting to see real numbers. The Australia part is a good point. This could easily do exactly what you are say, looking absolutely huge on a 130m budget just from some locations and reducing actor paychecks.
Maybe this should be split into a separate thread?

Where are we getting the info that says the CGI was used on the creatures? Maybe to enhance them, but we know there is practical and puppet work. My guess is this "Liberal CGI" is more likely in reference to realizing PARADISE. Based on the leaked photos alone, they are probably creating the equivalent of a Prehistoric Forest and enhancing the natural landscapes to appear more fantastic. To truly make PARADISE as fantastic as they can, I wouldn't sweat this... Probably adds to the world-building. Also we know there is this scene of these Engineers or people, in the throws of mutation, being petrified. Maybe we will get to see that somehow? There are some things which it just doesnt make sense to do practically.
Production Cost for Horror is in new territory right now. Its hard to estimate what's worth what in a market like this. A case could be made that the studios are more and more desperate for something reliable with an R-Rating. Very true that 200m seems high, and maybe unlikely, but this film is a full restoration of the ALIEN franchise, its Scott right after THE MARTIAN, coming off the success of PROMETHEUS (are we really still arguing over whether that film was a success?), and it may not have oscar-winners, but Fassbender is a major headliner and he is reprising a critically acclaimed role. The Horror thing is tough. On the one hand, yes horror and R-rated films have IN THE PAST meant diminishing returns, after a certain budgetary threshold, but it is with restraint that I would add, from a Producer's standpoint, that a horror franchise with built in desire for future cross platform material, and fan base - Something like THE WALKING DEAD, for instance, which is a runaway success, are in short supply and also very popular. Especially previously established properties; the likes of which, studios would love to establish or RE-ESTABLISH, at a time like this, when the audience for, popularity of, and acceptance of dark gory-horror is at an all time high. So I'm just saying we are really in new territory for the horror genre. Traditionally R-RATED original material isn't guaranteed to make $ but an R-rated
established fan-favorite, like ALIEN, is kinda in a new place right now, due to the popularity of things like THE WALKING DEAD and etc. For sure ALIEN has always been a sort of anomaly for R-RATED material, historically. There really aren't many opportunities for the studios to bank on this type of thing, and they may have decided this is as good as any chance to do so. These new reports of the "most violent ALIEN film" not-with-standing. Still 200m seems high. There are also plans to make more of these films, so investing when the iron is hot is also a consideration. ::Shrugs::

I'm pretty confident we'll get the English trailer in 10 days (depending on timezone). I believe it'll be early morning (GMT) time.
Is this an indication it may not be with Assassins Creed then? Because should the trailer debut with that, that's the 21st, and you'd think it's guaranteed to leak online? So I woulda thought Fox's strategy would be to put it online to avoid a nasty bootleg version. What do you think?
Prometheus made a healthy profit. The budget for the next one can be higher because of this. Also they added "Alien" to the title, thus giving it brand recognition and possibly adding hundreds of millions to their box office. Finally, Australia not only stretched their money, but they offered a huge rebate for filming there. Thus, you can say that Covenant had a budget of $200 million or $150 million and both are, in a sense, correct. Same thing happened with Exodus: they spent $200 million, but got some back and ended up with a "final" budget of $150 million or so.
There really is no mystery to this and I'm amused to see so many people doubting that Covenant could cost $200 million. Logan is Fox's big tent-pole movie for next summer, and Prometheus outgrossed X-Men: First Class. This could literally be the studio's biggest release of the year, and it's actually a safe bet, economically. Since Fox lost Star Wars to Disney and Fantastic Four is an aborted franchise, they just have Avatar, X-Men/Wolverine, and Alien, now. Avatar has been postponed many times, and they are ending the Wolverine franchise, and they had mixed success starting a new X-men series with Apocalypse, so I can easily imagine them betting the farm on Ridley Scott's next Alien film.

A quote from the article:
QuoteRidley Scott gave us a glimpse of the carnage in store in the first Alien: Covenant trailer and now the lovely people at Fox have treated us to a look at three brand new scenes. It's going to be very violent, very scary and very Alien.
We're not able to share these extended sequences with you at this time but for curious Alien-heads out there here's a full breakdown of what we saw and what it means for the Alien universe.
I will spoiler tag!! What may be new especially the end part.
Spoiler
Though we're still not seeing the 'classic' alien of HR Giger's original design that the poster and trailer teased. This vicious critter is closer to the 'Deacon' revealed at Prometheus's climax, with a bit of Alien 3's dog-like beast thrown in, too.
But it's fast, spiky and hungry for flesh, and shocking proof that this film's not going to stint on the body count. Or indeed the big explosions, as the battle to kill it results in the drop-ship going off like a New Year's firework as Waterston's resourceful Daniels and Crudup's captain look on helplessly.
Meanwhile, out on the planet's surface another team, containing Fassbender's Walter, contend with another mortally poorly crewman, whose body-rending parasite bursts up out of his mouth. As it splurges out and skitters screechily off into the night, Walter looks on impassively, almost with admiration.
In the final and shortest scene, we're led to believe the latter might prove to be the case. In a short exchange between Daniels (the crew's terraforming expert) and Walter, who sports a few bandaged facial wounds, she asks: "What kind of world are we building?" Walter replies: "I think if we're kind, it'll be a kind world."

QuoteWe also got a quick character vignette for Katherine Waterston's Daniels, which was more of a mini-trailer than anything. We see her talking with Billy Crudup's character and it's revealed that The Covenant is carrying 200 colonists, looking to start a new life on a new world. Almost all of them are couples, mean to repopulate wherever they end up. Definitely got those Biblical ties in the Adam and Eve sense and I'm sure Scott will tie those themes into the overall film, much like he did with mythology in PROMETHEUS. "It's our responsibility to investigate."
We see a few quick scenes of Waterston geared up with a gun, looking ready for action, rather than running scared, again giving the impression that there's more to her than a simple space damsel in distress and more akin to Ripley than Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw.
"All of this to start our new life." Waterston is seen talking to the Fassbender android Walter. She is obviously discussing their journey to the planet and expressing her fears. Walter replies, "I think if we are kind it will be a kind world."

I've stayed true to my mandate of avoiding spoilers. It makes me sad, as Enoch and Hicks pointed out elsewhere on this thread, that a lot of the film appears to have been leaked already. Old LV_226 would jump at the opportunity of spoilers, but I *want* to be surprised, I want to feel *excited* about this film. The red-band trailer re-assured me that the visuals were going to be amazing, the set-design would be impeccable, the casting would be top-notch, and that some interesting avenues would be pursued. However, I can't help but feel just slightly underwhelmed. Enoch pointed out above that apparently we will find resolution to some of the plot-points leftover from Prometheus—namely those dealing with Shaw and the Engineers—I hope that these are executed well because those elements add something worthwhile, IMO, to the franchise.
Sorry guys, I thought the nr. was already in the main article. My bad.

It seems the basic courtesy of spoiler tags - or putting a spoiler note on the thread title - is asking too much.
Did the 4Chann guy even enjoy the movie?

Screening are something normal, yes, but there are rules and protocols.
FOX showed the movie to some unusual test audience, and now the whole audience (general audience)
know every bit of the movie. Dont tell me its not like that because it is. I could make a video explaining the whole movie before its official release and almost critical number of alien fans and overall audience will most probably see that video If post it on Youtube.
Fans will go to the film regardless, everyone else won't care enough to follow every drop of news or read spoilers about the film.
That's true. Only some die-hard fans read spoilers. Everyone else don't bother. I've read them and I cannot wait to see the movie.

Spoiler free impressions from the 4Chan Guy:
Quote"Rough cut looked good. Mostly practical stuff, real sets and on location filming. Just like Prometheus. I liked it fine, it was pretty spooky/intense. Cinematography, set design, costumes, and everything looked great. I liked the locale of this film more. The forest setting was more interesting than the dull desert of Prometheus imo
I felt the pacing was a little off, and it moved fast in places but I guess those are my only complaints "
Does he mention anything about the moving being challenging, cerebral or ambitious like Prometheus? Can you dissect Covenant for hours afterwards? Probably not huh? It's probably going to be a straightforward action-horror film huh?

Again, how does this actually
spoil anything? Would knowing the exact towing capacity of the Nostromo have spoiled that movie, even if you didn't know beforehand that its refinery actually had ore in it?

I didn't think Prometheus was challenging or cerebral (It wanted to be but failed imo) but I'll give you ambitious.

The general gist I got was no, it's more like Aliens in tone and less philosophizing than in Prometheus.

Prometheus was one of those things, and even that it half-asses.

Setting the general courtesy principle aside, it changes the potential consequences and outlook for hundreds of people over a dozen or so.
Dunno how ore equates to people get killed by monsters...

Okay, then we'll change it: would knowing the exact number of people at Hadley's Hope spoil
Aliens? Did finding out the exact population of Gunnison, Colorado spoil
AvP: Requiem?
I really don't see how it's that big of an issue. I'm all for spoiler tags on spoilers, but I don't understand what's been ruined about finding out the crew capacity. It's a
colony ship, surely it was obviously going to have more than a dozen people on it?
I don't recall going so far as to say it was "ruined".

You went so far as to say something was spoiled, which means it's no longer in ideal condition. So ruined was hyperbole, but the point's the same. I don't see how this has fundamentally revealed something that would have been better kept hidden.

Stop. Stop.
But see, Prometheus
wasn't cerebral. It doesn't invite the audience to ask questions, see, it
tells them, so --
;D
Prometheus was a delicious, cerebral feast. That's how I took it in as an audience member, and continue to take it in while viewing it in my home. ;D
Doesn't take much to nourish the starving.

Spoiler
New footage was shown to journalists as part of a slate of upcoming Fox films, featuring two scenes and a short trailer centered on Katherine Waterston's character, Daniels.

Obviously the trailer shown is different than what we got on Xmas day, or that Daniels vid that Hicks had mentioned!!
I feel this could very well be a breakout role for Waterston. Also, can I get a discipline award for avoiding spoilers :P

Spoiler
The first was a fairly straightforward scene following the crew of the Covenant as they prepare to land on a mysterious planet, uncovered by following the signal of what's described as a "friendly ghost". There's some routine banter between the likes of Danny McBride's pilot and Billy Crudup's captain characters, while a group of them board a landing ship and descend through the planet's stormy atmosphere and down to its surface.
The next scene is what will be of great interest to fans, launching straight into the peak of the film's alien-infested mayhem; two of the crew have become infected, the group has been separated, and everything's going very badly indeed. For horror fans, it's a kind of glorious mayhem. The infected projectile vomit black, viscous blood all over their compatriots as the rest descend into complete panic mode - seemingly unaware of the exact nature of what they've encountered in this strange, new world.
One of the infected is rushed into the medical bay of the landing ship, while two female crew members look on in horror as sores start appearing across his back, with one of the women attempting to hold him down and finding her hand pierced by some strange bone suddenly jutting out of his spine. The other manages to escape, locking the door behind her - trapping infected and non-infected in a room together, as a nightmare starts to unfold.
The man's back rips open as a creature erupts straight from his spine. That'll be the Neomorph, a new kind of "baby Xenomorph" which would almost be adorable if not for the fact it immediately chases the woman down and starts clawing at her face, killing her. The second woman shows up with a firearm and attempts to gun down the Neomorph, but isn't quite successful as the creature proves terrifyingly nimble.
Outside, things aren't much better, as a disinterested Michael Fassbender (in what is presumably his role as not David, but another robot called Walter) looks on while another infected man has a Neomorph burst out from his own mouth much to the shock of those around him, before crawling away in the grass and escaping.
That group finally reach the landing ship, but must watch in horror as the woman's attempt to shoot the Neomorph running rampant inside within the hull seeing her accidentally hit a gas tank and explode the entire ship, killing her as well. Oops.
i thought we were leaning towards walter being somewhat good
or is he going to be ash like?
i wonder if david is going to end up saving the day somewhat
