Quotek, i officially cannot stand 3d. hate it. VR, absolutely love, AR, interesting. 3d films, cant stand.

Can't say I'm fussed either way. 3D doesn't really bother me like it used to.

I'm a little bumbed out by this! Just a little. I've started to enjoy 3D assuming it's done in a less visually aggressive manner. Prometheus's 3D was perfect in my opinion!

I don't really get anything from it. I prefer the less intrusive 3D like you mention (Titantic was done really well) but it just doesn't add enough of an extra experience to be worth it in my opinion.

I'd be fine with this. Good 3-D use in movies is rare.

I've found that even when the 3-D is good, I get too accustomed to it to notice.  When it's bad, I get a headache.  3-D is just price gouging to me.

Mentions 'Avatar' and 'Prometheus' as examples of where it can be done well - which I'd agree with.

Those are the two movies I'd say used it well too. In fact, those two are two of the three movies I actually made it a point to see in 3D. The third was Edge of Tomorrow, which was only good because it used 3D well. In 2D, I'd say it was a mediocre sci-fi with an intresting approach to storytelling. Lol. Ok, now I'm diverging...

Don't see how 3D would add anything non-gimmicky to an Alien film, so I'm fine with this...

Man I love IMAX 3D and it has to be IMAX. There's no substitute. Take my money. I agree that you do get used to it but it's ok when it is the best around. A waste of money is seeing a movie in standard def. :)

what??? this is depressing news. one of the things I am looking forward to most is 3D alien action! I hope the reverse this decision as soon as possible.

3D is almost always gimmicky bullshit. I'm so glad they're not using it.

3D cuts into the films budget as well. Typically costs about $15 million extra on top of everything else.

That money could be far better spent on stuff like better sets, writers, actors, cgi etc...

I find the 3D a distraction.
a good movie does not need it,big screen yep,big sound yep but you need great script, good actors etc
Alien,Aliens ..brilliant no 3D needed.
Just give me an amazing film period.
3D goes back many years, seen as a novelty to help B grade  movies stand out in the crowd.btw they were fun. Today do we really need it?
no not really, some animated stuff sure give the kids a thrill.
