A new Aliens game is coming to PC, consoles and virtual reality from VR developer Survios. It’s set in the Aliens universe and is a single-player action-horror adventure game.

Survios have a provided a piece of artwork which you can see below. The title of the game is unknown but more information will be revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con next week. There will be a panel at Comic-Con called Alien: Expanding a Dark and Frightening Universe which takes place Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 2PM-3PM.

The panel will explore the Alien franchise as seen through the development of new fiction, comics, and games. Speakers include Steve Saffel (Alien fiction editor, Titan Books), Violet Castro (author, Aliens Vasquez), Clara Carija (author, Alien: Inferno’s Fall), and Andrew Gaska (writer, Alien: The Roleplaying Game).

From the website, it says the new Aliens title will be built using Unreal Engine 5. Survios has worked on a number of big entertainment properties including Creed, The Walking Dead and Westworld.

When I joined Survios in 2020, it was to build bigger, more ambitious games, using the best entertainment franchises across console, PC, and VR platforms. Aliens is a distinct and terrifying world that fans love to be entrenched in, and it is perfect for Survios' proven expertise in creating immersive gaming experiences.

I've not heard of this developer, but yeah the mention of VR is also making me think it'll be PSVR thing on consoles. You know Sony is going to want to push that again with these next-gen systems being capable of higher framerates than the original PS4 VR system was capable of.

Either way it's pretty cool......though I do rather wish we'd get an announcement about a new Predator (or AVP) game to go along with these new Alien games we now know are on the horizon too....  :(

HOW EXCITING!!!! Been needing some new alien games to play! If they can capture the atmosphere and tension of Alien Isolation then throw in all the drama, action and excitement of Aliens then this game has some serious potential to be awesome!!

Both Creed games were good. Westworld was.....okay. they nailed the atmosphere, but early VR issues in control etc.

Oh shit! Is this different than the RTS like game that was announced earlier this summer???? Wow. Give me first person Aliens game with survival horror like Dead Space and I'm there!

Their previous games havent been good and pretty mediocer games and focusing a lot on VR, I have no high hopes for this especielly if its VR focused, too much a gimmik for me sorry.

I want to get into VR one day but that said I really have the feeling this game will be a pass.

Virtual Reality's a gimmick, not interested.

Love me some VR. Hopefully they'll do a PS4 version as well.

While I do hope it's playable outside of VR, it's a format I think really suits Alien. Alien Isolation in VR is just a whole other experience and since I've played that, I've been wanting something built for Alien considering VR from the get-go. Honestly, I barely even use my VR headsets - Beatsaber and Isolation - so to have something designed for them is something I'm excited for. Just hope it's playable on non-VR too.

Well i hope it's a bonafide real game and not some VR gimmick cash grab to release when the show releases.

Definitely interested in a quality VR title. I love the format.  There are plenty of great titles, but also a load of shovelware like all formats. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The developer doesn't inspire a great deal of confidence within me. Look up "The Walking Dead: Onslaught - 15 Minutes Of PC VR Gameplay" on YouTube and go to the 2:15 mark. Their games are as janky as all heck.

While the announcement of 2 new Alien games back to back is great I'd have much preferred an new Aliens vs. Predator game instead. Been too long.

By this rate of new games, its rather likely. Disney seem to license it out rather freely now.

The Walking Dead: Onslaught was the biggest pile of shit I've bought & played, more than twice worst than A:CM. No hopes for this one.

Form the explanation on their site it seems they'll make it playable without VR as well.

I really enjoyed their Westworld Awakening VR game but yeah their Walking Dead Onslaught is pretty awful. Or at least it has a very basic low budget vibe. It's functional and seems to be playable, but compared to Walking Dead Saints & Sinners it is not impressive.

I think the quality of an Alien game from them probably comes down to the budget they have managed to secure for it.

The game is coming to console, PC AND VR, do you guys think the non-VR version will be completetely different or perhaps just an on-rails shooter?

From what I understand, this is a fps survival horror/action shooter. I don't think there will be any "on-rails" gameplay for this one...

Sounds like there are layoffs a Survios. Not sure what it means for the game, but I can't imagine it's good. Hopefully those affected can get rehired soon.

The problem with it is the technology isn't there yet, even though they've solved a lot of the issues that plagued VR in the 90s and 2000s.

The thing is still that: unless you have an incredibly lifelike (currently impossible)immersion rig, you're left with a few great games optimized for VR and a short novel experience that grows old.

When you're not able to physically sense your environment or walk, your brain just goes "Oh, this is just a cool video game after all. Why am I even wearing this expensive headbucket when I can just play it on screen?", then you forget all about it.

EDIT: That's my current opinion on VR. It can be fun some times if you're with other people doing stuff you couldn't really do over a chat room or video chat, other than that, it's an expensive novelty device that needs improvement before wide acceptance.

With the Comic-Com being this month maybe they will show a trailer or a gameplay (hopefully). I'm really hoping that we have some news, and maybe will be available for Playstation 4 to 😅

Anyways thanks for the vid, Hicks. Always good to get confirmation of things, especially since Aliens projects tend to either be rumors or just die off.

I'll check it out, but I was sort of hoping for an experience closer to 'Aliens'. Given the choice in the Alien universe, I'd prefer to have the marine, pulse rifle and motion tracker VR experience, rather than the VR hiding in cupboards simulator. But, will wait and see. The are branding it as 'Aliens' though

This sounds positive! I was convinced this was basically going to be 'Aliens Extermination VR' - but if they are treating it as survival horror, I'm a very happy man indeed! 😃

Checkout the upcoming 'Level Zero' - it may be the game for you - asymmetrical multiplayer in the same vein as Alien Isolation, enemies that are blatant Xeno ripoffs...two player controlled aliens hunt down 4 human survivors

A rip off does not hit the same.

Still gives us a chance to see what new hardware and same concept can accomplish. Its not vr but ill take it. VR will suck for the next 20 years for sure.

Personally, I'm really excited by the prospect. When I think Alien and VR, feels like a perfect match for a horror title (especially having played the Mother VR mod for Isolation). I'm still like to play the Alien again - just not in this title.

Hopefully it won't be just VR but have compatibility across all different gaming systems.

Maybe, maybe not. When something is developed for VR first, it doesn't always come across well as a flat game after the fact.

Everyone loved Half Life Alyx, but when the mod was released that allows people to play in flat screen, people commented on how slow and limited it was. That's because when you're playing in VR, there's a lot more to take in, and it's a lot less involved when using a controller or KB+M, so what feels exhilarating and amazing in VR, where you can reload your gun manually, feels less interesting when it's a simple button press.

Obviously the Resident Evil games have done a fantastic job of hybrid VR, and if the new alien game is love that, it will hopefully be amazing. I'm just saying maybe temper expectations if there's a flat version but it was developed for VR first.

Not sure if you guys noticed (it's been a while since I checked out their website, so apologies if old news) but Survios have switched branding from 'Aliens' to 'Alien' - possibly to tie in with the news of the game being a single player survival horror /spiritual successor to Isolation, (and maybe branding to tie in with the upcoming movie?)

I think it's very possible that it is and but what do you have against the models? I know it came from a crappy game but I would say the model look good

Yall worried about ACM xenomorph character meshes. Meanwhile it's gonna end up like AFE and ADD... Or get the Isolation Treatment...

 Either too Arcady-like AFE (Which doesn't feel alien at all). Or it'll end up like ADD and just be a one-shot game with no big content expansions.  Or end up like Alien Isolation, great game but not enough sales to grease up the Mouse's ****** to let him allow bigass Expansions.


 So these devs better make sure everything is polished. And if it's meant to be an action game with the horror, they may want to play DS1-Remake and DS2 to get a good understanding.

 Of course.. This game being made for VR first and both PC and Consoles.... It'll be poorly optimized and buggy as hell like any modern game that comes to multiple platforms in the modern era...

 So. Even if it's good, it'll get the Isolation treatment and Disney will just give up since none of the Aliens/Alien titles are making blockbuster money in the gaming industry.  The Franchise will be doomed to cobbled together "indie" teams who're better off making mobile games for Clash of Clans... Or get stuck with developers who "Play it too safe cause casuals".

Hey I don't think it good be all doom and gloom for this game.

We know almost nothing about this game, so I'm saving my judgement until we get in game screenshots and or video.

I prefer the indie teams, we need more mid budgeted.

This week at GDC 2024, Survios CTO Alexander Silkin gave a presentation covering some of the challenges and opportunities of building a VR game with Unreal Engine 5. In the session description the studio clearly affirms: "Survios is utilizing these techniques to develop an upcoming VR game based on the Alien franchise."

Considering the game still hasn't had a formal gameplay reveal, we're not expecting the talk itself will reveal much beyond technical development details, but at least we know the game is still in the works.

I was wondering if we would hear anytging sbout this soon, was starting to think the game was getting scrapped. Hope it comes out soon
