Any particular actors/actresses you think could be a good choice in the new film? Obviously we know nothing about the plot yet, but there might be someone you think would be at home in an Alien film.
I'd quite like to see Dominic West (McNulty from The Wire) in there somewhere, he's a really great actor with a knack for the realism thing that made the cast in the original Alien so likeable. Plus he hasn't really done much of note since The Wire, so I'd like to see him get a chance in something mainstream.
Someone else I'd put forward is Javier Bardem. He's a real powerhouse actor with huge screen presence, I'm sure he could do something interesting.
Best would be to go for relatively unknown actors/actresses as was the case in Alien and Aliens.

Joel Kinnaman/Charles Joel Nordström as a suit of some kind. I can just picture him as a cocky executive. He does the scruffy detective pretty damn well, too, but not sure where that'd fit in the Alien universe given the hush-hush nature of the company's shenanigans.
And Peter Dinklage. Smart-ass scientist.
Steve Buscemi. I don't care how, I just want to see the guy get killed by an xeno. He just seems like the kind of guy that would suffer that sort of horrific end.
Emily Blunt. Female marine, or maybe even an adult Newt. Either way, I'd like to see her in this.
Aldis Hodge. Great actor who I think would fit in well in the Alien universe. He has the bonus of not doing any sci-fi before, and I'd love to see him in the genre. Plus, every Alien film has had at least one cool black guy. Parker, Apone, Dillon, Christie, Idris Elba's Captain(don't remember the captain's name, but he was cool). I think that for Alien 5 to truly fit into the franchise, this tradition must continue. It would be nice to have the black guy live this time, but I'm certainly not going to argue with tradition if the script calls for him to die horribly.
You need at least one British actor, preferably a Masterpiece Theater actor. I can picture plenty of the actors from Downtown Abbey starring in A5.
As for American actors I would pick and choose from HBO shows. I think the broad, ever-changing cast of OZ displayed tons of talent and the right kind of acting for an Alien movie.
No action heroes, hot babes or hunks please!

We know nothing about the characters this script calls for. How can we say which actors should or shouldn't be in it?
I mean, I could say Juliet Landau, because she's tremendously diverse and is one of the few talents in Hollywood who doesn't just play herself all the time, but that doesn't mean I think she 'should be' in the movie, because I still have no idea what it's about.
Listing a top ten of favourite actors doesn't mean they'll be relevant for the script. :) Otherwise, it's just a random list of faces people like to see on the big screen (and this is why 'Prometheus' was rumoured to have Megan Fox starring in it, back when it was being rumoured as an 'Alien' remake).

Some actors just sort of give off that 'I could be in an Alien movie' vibe, whether it's their appearance or similar films or the people they've worked with.

The Alien movies have a beautiful tradition of casting actors that aren't drop-dead gorgeous, super hot, muscle bound, mega fit, overtly attractive etc. The tradition was broken in PROM, and the AVP movies don't even count ;p
Actors in Alien movies are people of all ages; hard working everyday people with regular looks, where's others have very characteristic and distinctive face with proportions or features that hardly would win them a beauty contest. The closest thing we get to pretty boys and pretty girls are The Girl/Boy Next Door characters, like Hicks or Call.
I really hope A5 will stay away from the young-hot-n-sexy trap. I would love to see Willem Dafoe for example.
Willem Dafoe alters Alien genetics for Bioweapons division, doesn't have time to go back to formula.

I don't think PROM broke the tradition, just that David was supposed to be physically perfect and Vickers was sort of in the role of 'is she or isn't she' an android of a similar design too. No one else in the film was all that attractive. I don't think Holloway or Janek are any more physically appealing than say Dallas, or Parker.
Not to mention Prometheus had Sean Harris with a rather unattractive hair style and Kate Dickie (who I think is actually pretty attractive but many wouldn't say she looks 'conventional'.)
And I just noticed that I listed Benedict Wong earlier and completely forgot he was already in a film in the Alienverse.
Danny Webb as a random guy who shouts "F***!" after the alien grabs someone from a vent shaft. ;D

I keep thinking of older actors, and it makes sense to a degree given that everyone in the original cast for Alien was older than the average cast for a slasher flick -- and in Aliens, too, the cast had almost no young-looking members, excluding the children.
I'd love to see Nicholas Cage chestbursted.

Not all children actors are terrible. I thought for a few scenes, Carrie Henn played her part fairly well. Then again, she wasn't an actress when they picked her.
Alien was a horrible film without children. But Halloween had children in it, and that movie was fine. Just as long as it doesn't turn into E.T., I'm on the fence. T2's Eddie Furlong is admittedly sort of annoying but strangely quote-worthy all the same. I make fun of the guy with my brothers a lot, but who, at that age, wouldn't have wanted a terminator?

Iain Glen from Game of Thrones. I can see him playing a sinister company employee. Jason Statham would make a good colonial marine.

I don't know if there are any Black Sails fans here, but there are two actors in that who could be interesting in an Alien film. Zach McGowan, who plays pirate Capt. Charles Vane would make for a good space trucker or mercenary. There's also Toby Stephens of Die Another Day fame (or is it infamy), who is also Capt. Flint on Black Sails, and would be a interesting choice for a W-Y exec, space trucker, scientist, or synthetic.

I agree with Wantanabe, he's a great actor.
I don't know what direction Neil is gonna take the movie, but if he involves the USCM or some Merc's I'd like to see these guys fill some of the roles.

Not gunna lie. He was pretty great with a smaller role in Schwarzenegger's Sabotage, but for some reason, he was bland as overcooked scrambled eggs in Avatar and T4.
I never said in a big role. Something minor (if we're going military, a Drake level role) is perfect.
I've liked Worthington since I saw him play Macbeth in high school, and I actually liked him in Terminator 4 and Avatar. He'd make for a good grunt.

You know, after hearing Sharlto Copely do a british accent, I'm actually disappointed that he claims to not be involved with this. I reckon he's got the acting chops to do something really memorable (David8-tier role) if the audience wasn't distracted by his (super exaggerated) Seth Effrikan accent.
I want to see Arnold Schwarzenegger, and I want him to kill an Alien at least once, so he can be the only actor to have killed an Alien, and Predator, and a Terminator on screen. Then he can stick it to Lane Henrikson and Bill Paxton.
Also obviously Michael Biehn and Sigourney Weaver. It could be a reunion of The Terminator!

I'm constantly amazed that woman isn't in more things - she has perfect comic-timing and aptitude for action stuff. One of the faces I was hoping to see in a third '
Ghostbusters', for that very reason.
I'd genuinely rate her Aeryn Sun right alongside Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor, as one of the very best strong female action heroines on screen.
Wow. Had no idea. Guess it's been too long since I saw that film. Her character really annoyed me to start with in Stargate but she eventually became quite strong and fun.

I proposed this in another thread but it belongs here. Bill Burr as a young(ish) Hicks. Then again Bill Burr might be better in a different role as another wise-cracking marine. The guy doesn't even need to be funny. He just has this amped-up edge that I think would work well in a Hudson sort of way. Then again I really don't need a verbatim repeat of Aliens. I'm a little torn here...

Perhaps Ripley's great granddaughter (or just granddaughter depending on the timeframe) knows the secret of Weyland-Yutani, acts as a strong advocate against that corporation, and so Burke wanted to hide her from Ripley?

ample reason to check out what she could for herself. I don't think she'd be satisfied with a simplistic A4 obituary -

If her daughter had visited her area of space before and made headlines about some strange organism - which matches Ellen's description - it should have been noticed. Instead, everyone's just saying how nothing like it has brought up any search results.
Yeah, a story
could say Burke lied for the sake of lying, but it would look really awkward in hindsight. Would also make a mockery of his reasons for sending a couple of random prospectors out to the co-ordinates. If Amanda's story is known about, he'd have extra information to go on and would have a lot more reason to send out a specialised investigation/retrieval team. He's the/a 'Special Projects Director', after all.

Who's to say she said anything? Perhaps some of Marlow's spiel about avoiding contact being the only way to beat sunk in? Hell, who's to say W-Y didn't catch up with her and keep her under lock-and-key so she
couldn't tell anyone? There are a few possibilities.
I don't think the Amanda thing is quite the deal breaker some make it out to be, but it would be nice to get some kind of explanation in the future.

Maybe Amanda Ripley is alive or in hypersleep or frozen and after the events of alien isolation(or AVP isolation check out that forum)She is the company so Burke is hiding her from Ripley and near the end of alien 3 the company uses Amanda as a bargain chip to get the queen from Ripley they say Burke was a lone hostile and they use Amanda key as proof .

Ripley wasn't isolated. She wasn't even an employee any longer. She was getting work on Gateway Station, itself.

In which case, she'd be listed as MIA. There's an elderly picture of her and the cremation details. Details which her mother would have had
every motivation to verify from non-company sources. She's at her most paranoid about their motivations.
