Okay guys, just as Corporal Hicks runs a game night on the 360, I'm now going to start an official PS3 game night. I'm thinking of running it on Wednesdays at roughly the same time, however if this is inconvinient for the majority of players let me know and I'll change it to accomodate everyone.

Yeah roughly 7ish mate. And I don't have any of the map packs either at this point, but I'll buy them if the majority of people prefer them.
i'm not fussy, even having the swarm pack, when i was playing, it was rare to play on a swarm map so i barely ever played them anyway. i'm sure people won't mind just playing the original maps, it's not like anyone can force you to spend a fiver if you don't want to.
I've heard some of the newer maps are really good though. And I thought they were only about £3?
Tempest and Furious are amazing. The map packs are worth it.
£4.79 i think, you might be right though, i never looked at the swarm pack since i got the hunter edition. pretty sure bughunt is £4.79 though.
and the minimum you can fund your psn account at one time is £5 so it might aswell be £5 unless you buy a mini or a theme with the change.
edit: when the Corp has spoken :D maybe we should see what map packs all the other interested parties have first before we go blowing our money.

We swap between on 360 night. A bit of Survivor until enough people join, swap between player and ranked matches, some Survivor as people leave.

That was annoying, I was having bad connection problems too, my mic would cut out or play up, and people would get booted from games etc. But I owned you guys on Predator Hunt ;) There were a few good domination matches too!

sure it does! it just takes longer, i think, it does that thing where is says "x amount of people are in the group wating for y amount of people" and that number decreases over time.
I wasn't sure you could join if someone's in matchmaking? I always have trouble with it.
Depends if they're the group leader. You can only join the group leader.

I just got the Map Packs today (You finally convinced my Hicks ;)) and am downloading them now. Can't wait to try them and I guess play with you guys some time.
EDIT: Wow. I must say I am impressed, I just played Survivor on Tempest, Monument and Hive and I've got to say the map packs are well worth as of yet. Still have to try the Multiplayer maps, which surprisingly I saw their to be quite a few lobbies open.
By the way, for all you Americans, Columbus Day is tomorrow and I'll probably be online most of the day.
Just played a Multiplayer game on Crash Site and Outpost.
I've got to say Outpost was pretty cool with the waterfall and flaming drop ship, but I'm sure it will look much more spectacular at night (Was playing as alien, lol). Outpost seemed pretty cool as well, but only really got a small look at the outside, before the host left :-[. Can't wait to try Furious as i've heard it's a really good map from some of you guys, as well as suiting all species (All pretty much are Predator maps :() Docks looks pretty wicked as Colony maps are my favorite. :)

Furious is and pyramid are the only ones i wouldn't consider predator maps. Pyramid is an alien map and furious is great for all species.
refinery is not too much of a predator map i think, refinery is a good all round map, good places for aliens to hide, a nice big area with a couple of places for preds to hide, but plenty of places for marines to dig in and be safe.
I wish there were a way to just load up the maps and walk around 'em by yourself. I've had these map packs for weeks, and I haven't even seen Furious and Crash Site (and maybe more) yet!

yeah i agree, it's nice that you can play 1 player survivor though. (however lack of revive in survivor is a massive annoyance, even when it makes sense for aliens to leave their victims alive, and you have the ability to revive yourself.) but i guess you can just start a friendly match a and then just start as soon as you have 1 person.

what i would truly like is for game developers to create AI mltiplayer people so you can paly alone. I'd call it single-player-multiplayer. Feel free to steal that, i won't press charges.

i play TF about as much as i play AVP to be honest, which isn't much. i don't think i've played since the first dlc was released

I crack jokes a lot, I'm "jumpy"(meaning I jump when things pop out of nowhere), but I can, eerily, quickly switch from hyper to calm in a matter of seconds. I scare people by doing that sometimes ^^;
I also have a laugh that sounds like a dying hyena.

I need in I need good players to play against and a reason to play avp. Can I make a suggestion free-for-all on refinery is amazing it was what the demo had.
Normally that would be the ultimate turn off but with people who know what there doing it is amazing fun.
In the demo days I used to play it with lie and grimyghost or something. All the time, it was the only time I enjoyed playingthe multiplayer. And because we were all psn friends we decided for all the predators to team up, aliens to team up, and marines, and the advantage of this over just changing the settings on team deathmatch is more options for amounts and everything.

Make sure you select that particular mic in your sound settings, and crank up the gain!

As I still have the game and it seems SEGA finally resolved at least the ranked match wait time issue in the game, I thought I would join your game night. My PSN ID is the same as my screename: Maphisto86. I have not played multiplayer in a while but I am starting to get the hang of it again. I also have a Turtlebeach mic headset as well which will make team play a lot easier. I look forward to future matches with all of you. 8)

Mine's wired, and I've been having some trouble with it.
Hi Razorslash.
My model is a PX21 headset and is wired so it needs to be plugged into the television and console via a cable that comes with the headset. There were also some detailed instructions that came with it and after I got those figured it out, the headset works fine so far. What kind of problems are you having with your headset? From what I read of your recent posts, it is possible that you do not have the cables hooked up correctly or they may be loose. I am sure you thought of that so the only other advice I could give you is that you should check your system's audio settings as Mr. Clemens suggested and re read the instructions carefully.
I misread a step in my excitement to get the thing going only to have it not work until I redid my system settings. I find that the input to the microphone is sometimes not sensitive enough so I have to put the reciever settings up higher. This is especially true if there is a lot of noise around, although the PX21 usually does a good job of avoiding noise interference. It's just not always reliable 24/7.

I'm still trying to Rank Up, mainly to get Grid. So, if I DO get the maps, will it attempt to only find players who have the maps or all players?

Hehe I finally got a ranked game going with only 5 people. It was a SDM and I was an alian with another guy. The one pred was caster spamming(I didnt mind tho I could avoid it!) and the marine was hiding somewhere for the whole game. I got 10 kills and the pred got 9. Even though it was 2vs2vs1 it was like 1vs1, me and the pred ::)

I have the first one, and no. It is the same. And probably not even half of the active commuinity has them so really the only way your going to play them is custom or maybe even private.
The maps are good but you won't go on them more than once or twice in 2 or 3 months unless all the people you play with and hopefully me soon will have them.

Try unplugging and replugging stuff. Half of the worlds computer problems can be solved with this method. On an organizational note, it sounds like weekends are the best for most people. anyone have specific obstacles in their schedules?

I play this game all the time, but sometimes, I don't come online because I have a naggy family.
I like to play by the rules and do not use glitches or bugs to my advantages.
That means, I stalk as an Alien and use all my weapons as a Predator at a level that they're not spammed.
And as a Marine, I stay with my team and would sometimes melee attack them for fun. :D But I don't kill them.
All of my friends on PSN play this game so if anyone wants to befriend me there, just message me so that I can get rid of any useless player who's taking up space for a new one. :P
Oh, and I do not have any of the map packs because I cannot access PlayStation Store from the country I currently live in. :-\

I've rarely been available at other times 'cause my son's usually with me, and the majority of (other) AvP players are usually dropping f-bombs left, right and centre. But you guys all seem pretty gentlemanly and well-behaved, so maybe I can get on sometimes when he's with me! :)
I live in southern Ontario, Canada so I go by North American Eastern Standard Time. We should choose a time zone to go by and try to find a compromise together for individual game nights, so that at least most of us will be able to participate. I got the AvP DLC packs so I hope I can put it to good use playing with you all.

On the bright side though I managed to friend a bunch of people, kids, teens and adults on the Playstation Network who often play AvP multiplayer. They take too long to enter and you have to quit to the menu when they're done so it will save?
I have never had that problem you speak of RazorSlash. ??? Are you saying it will not save the XP from your previous matches unless you go to the main menu right after? When you finish a Ranked Match and it takes you back to the lobby, you may have to quit or it won't save XP

I am really jonesing for games on the DLC map packs. One of the weaknesses of multiplayer in this game is the lack of dynamic maps but the DLC ones definitely deliver. Especially for the Aliens as they are often weakly lit giving a lot of great places to hide in. I have not played many of the DLC maps and would love to try out "Docks" or "Furious" one of these days. For the cost of a delivered pizza you could get both map packs so I ended up getting since there are people playing again. Who else has picked it up so far?

Saturdays. Our original plan was Wednesday's, we could go back to that.
saturdays is good for me a lot more often than wednesdays.
I think the best policy is a week-to-weekk schedule, based on who will be available and when( i.e, I'm available all the time until Dead Space 2 arrives...)
We'll never all be able to make the same time (though I've been really happy to play every Sunday with you fine people), so it couldn't hurt to have multiple times, when those who can play, do.
In fact, we should ask Vulhala to edit his first post in this thread with the times, so the info can be quickly found by newcomers. Sundays at 3:30pm EST seems to be working for several of us... any other days/times popular with you all?

I had the dumb luck weeks ago of just getting friend requests from six or more other complete strangers and got it. :D :P This was just before I started joining in on the game nights on here. Tell me about it! I saw vids like this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_8JYgdfEss#ws) and I wonder "is this game really that bad/repetitive?". It's great fun with numbers like that! Personally I think it is just the horrible matchmaking setup Rebellion has for ranked matches. Also unlike other multiplayer games, you cannot jump into the game while it is playing. :-\ Yet with enough people and most having mic's, this game can get quite fun. Here's hoping for a better sequel . . . or at least Aliens: Colonial Marines. ;)

Sadly' Brennan and dinohunter 1-3's anniversary idea did not quite pan out. I am hoping everyone here on the Playstation Network can get together this Sunday around 3:30 PM EST for a few matches. In fact I propose we should meet a little later as I find when I come on at 3:00 to 3:30 PM EST many people are not yet online or are still preoccupied with another game. AvP is terrible for connection issues and this year I have been having freezing issues both in singleplayer and multiplayer. Especially multiplayer . . . every time I clean the disk it seems fine and has no scratches but when eventually it starts freezing again! >:( If there is a god, please don't let a sequel for this game suck so much. :'(

A couple of reasons why I have not attended game nights lately -
I just recently finished my university classes for this academic year. Suffice to say I was buried alive by papers near the end there. However despite finishing my exams I am now currently recovering from some long awaited surgery for muscle damage in my left shoulder. I am doing OK but sadly I will have only my right arm to use for the next few weeks so I would be worse than useless playing anything. Then again PSN is currently down anyway! I am also kept lethargic by painkiller medication so woo-hoo!
Hope to be back in action later in May.

Agh! The wall spammers are so annoying. I absolutely hate the pyramid map for this reason. -.- I admit I've wall spammed (who hasn't lol?), but only a few times. I usually only hit once, then I jump down and continue attacking.

I like doing friendly matches as they are easy to organize, but I'm not picky. I usually start off with survivor as people arrive, then move on to other game modes.
We could do ranked. But don't join me, my connection is not capable of doing grouped ranked matches. I asked a few friends to join us, so we'll have some people. In friendly, we could fight each other or against others, while in a group. I'm on my way home, but unfortunately, it's raining and I'm stuck in traffic. It should take me around 30 minutes to reach home :(

Sorry I'm as late comer, but is this game night still going on? I would love to join, but I'm seriously considering returning the game since all of the maybe 25-30 people I've met while playing this game, only 2 of them were over 9 years old. Its nothing personal but I dont get into the getting cussed at by a 6 year old (actually happened) for using all of the predator weapons.
Are there specific rules? Because I wont play if people wanna whine because I use the tools provided to me.
I will give you an example: There was this 6 year old playing an alien, and he was camping and tail "spamming" Marines, so I would sit from across the map, wait for him to go back to his camping spot, and spear him. After I won the species TDM as the only predator based on the 3 aliens constantly using the same tactic I had to hear how much of a "cheap piece of f'ing shit I was" from a kid the same age as mine. :-\ So, I would love to play but not against whiners or minors. preferably

I always felt that A:CM was more fun than AVP2010; the learning curve isn't as steep and the Predator in AVP2010 was just too overpowered.
