The engineer is holding the elephantine helmet in his hand and. The cape in the other.

That means the holes in the pods were before the outbreak perhaps ?

This is from the deleted scene where the elder speaks to the sacrificial engineer. The elder wears a cape and looks similar to the engineer also with the cape in the image you posted

Could be after the outbreak but why would they leave Bob in the hypersleep chamber ?

They're not the same Engineer. Just wearing both wearing a cape. The standing Engineer is also carrying one.

Looked at it and agrees with you they are not elders though it is the first time I have seen them wearing capes outside of the sacrificial scenes.

What's the deal with the elephantine helmet the one engineer had in his hand ? I thought they came permanently attached to the suits like at the entrance to the orrery ?

Not to be overly dramatic, but holy crap that image is out of left field. If that is from a delete scene it could mean that the pods erupted before hand. I assumed they were just the engineers from the hologram but the ship could have bought the alien to the facility instead. That or they are the clean up crew. They look like sad engineers.

Someone has to do the dirty work. ha their society became so advance that everyone in it had the title of Engineer.

I don't know why, maybe it's because I didn't actually look for it... but I have to ask. Did they make one of those awful porn videos feature Prometheus? Or was the practical effects too expensive.

It's a behind the scenes still from when they were filming the hologram scene in the Orrey. I've used other ones from that scene before. There's quite a few in our gallery.
