damn, do I really want to be spoiled by a play through with pewdiepie's annoying commentary? Is that REALLY how I want to be spoiled on the intro to this game after so long?.......lol idk...
Is it the actual full start of the game? How is it, from people who have watched?
The vid host is annoying as shit, but the game. The game...
Well, sadly....
It's awesome!! hahahaha

I watched a little out of curiosity. The game begins exactly how I wanted: slow. It looks incredible.
Guys, I think we're getting our dream Alien game here.
The Prophecy was fulfilled !
Very impressive so far but jesus, that guy was annoying. Really spoilt the whole atmosphere.
Not gonna watch this, although it's so hard to resist. Also that guy is annoying, humour for 10 year olds. But at least the guy helps the game to get popular with the kids. If the game is good, i really hope it sells incredibly large quantities. Suck on this Pitchfraud, and to lesser extent, yeah you mr Ridley Scott. Alien is not cooked, you just have to put some thought to it.
The guy its annoying but...Woa! nice move SEGA! Piewdiepie has 30M suscribers...the first part of the video has in 12hours 1M views and 200k likes...thats a good start!
Ok, couldn't resist. Game looks decent, apart from bad ingame lyp sync and iffy eye animation. This is just the intro section, not too spoilery. I still have some doubts with the game regarding ai and longevity, not to mention how the story plays out. Design and sound wise the game seems top notch, so it's already better than Colonial Marines. But i still have this fear in the back of my mind that the overall game will end up disappointing, unlike A:CM the faults may be fixable with the updates. Strange that the second part isn't up yet and there is something going on with the comments. Maybe Sega won't allow further uploads, because the game turns shit, dunno.

He wont upload the second part until the first vid gets lot more visits and likes...typical. Anyway, the coments were 90% possitives.
This is pretty much safe to watch. There's no spoilers here, certainly nothing that we didn't already know. A nice, slow-burning introduction to the game. Very impressive. So wish I could afford a PS4...
I wonder if PewDiePie is an AVP fan...is he? I really don't know , but I'd say no . He misunderstood Sevastopol with a planet .
Holy balls this game looks great! Where's part 2? It has way more likes than the requested 70k. To be fair though PewDiePie comes across like he can't read or count.
Pewdiepie shutdown all the coments of his vids early this year, its like a protest against the way the coments work in that platform. Nothing to do with AI
Not really any spoilers. How does this guy have 30 million subs? He must make a ton of money.

Yes he does , and the subs are growing almost every day .
He even got The Evil Within Demo waay earlier because of his popularity and the advertising he could make .
P.S : I have the feeling this is turning into a PewDiePie thread now . :-X So please , A:I related things only .
My pallete is too refined to watch a gameplay video with some dudes stupid face talking and babbling over the audio.
I guess it doesn't bother him to be living under a loaded gun.

I just watched it nothing really spoilery at all. i am very exited for the game though. I probably wont watch anymore playthroughs.
Guys...you can take a shower...in an Alien game.

Love pewdiepie, have it in another tab paused... can't decide if i want to spoil anything or not.... ahhhhhhh ???
One thing i noticed that the npc's just stand or sit motionless, even when talking. This goes well with Dark Souls kind of games, but for next gen title this just seems underdeveloped. Attention to detail in the surroundings is amazing, but then you have the wonky leg animations. I hope they didn't sacrifice the quality of the main game because of the dlc addons. The dialogue didn't seem too promising either. Music is great, but music was pretty good in A:CM, so that's not telling much.

OmG, so many people already said it's not filled with spoilers.
It was all fairly basic expository dialogue for a survival horror game, but it had the right flavor. I could've used a bit more of an intro to Amanda, though.
I did like the captain - Verlaine? - and I loved the space walk.
Spoiler
For once, the (female) player character is not the clueless newbie - Amanda was the one who knew how to do it.

Yeah, was hoping for more of an intro with Amanda. Maybe there will be some flashbacks or w/e of her and Ellen. Be nice.
THAT f**kING BACKGROUND MUSIC IN THE MENU. I DREAMED OF THIS AND THEY DID IT. GOD SAVE US ALL.
I am very sorry, I just couldn't resist to ask
Who the hell is this guy and how did THIS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRyPjRrjS34#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRyPjRrjS34#ws) got 60 000 000 views?! Did ppl got so degraded to watch stuff like this?? Jesus I killed so many brain cells after watching it.
Who cares.
Simple fact: Youtube a has studio in which most of these more popular v-loggers (mainly teenagers) have to go and setup in. They colab and such. Youtube CAN fix numbers if they want if it's in their benefit to do so.
I really must thank this pewdiepie guy. I caved in and started watching the video but 2 minutes of his voice forced me to turn it off, saving me from spoiling myself.
I love it. Gotta admit, I started getting used to the same visuals the trailers seemed to offer again and again but no, the game looks so f**king beautiful. The Torrens is so great - with small distinctive differences from the Nostromo. And the shot of it flying towards the Sevastopol, complete with the Goldsmith-esque soundtrack? So great. I also really liked the space walk bit.
I'll try to avoid future videos, save any more surprises for myself.

The game is very pleasing to look at so far, not gonna make any judgements yet. I'm really glad that the dialog wasn't cringe-worthy like I feared. Obviously not Oscar-worthy, but solid enough to set up characters and get thing's going. Here's to hoping we'll get a good game along with a dose of cautious skepticism! ;D
It was worth it to hear the annoying voice of this guy, because God! the game is absolutely stunning 8)

I always TRY to avoid anything that may make my first play through less interesting. A game isn't fun for me when I know whats to come and what to do before I play it, weather there are major spoilers or just simple game play. Sadly half the time my eagerness gets the best of me.

There really isnt that much to worry about in this video. diepie is annoying and as stated before, he knows little about the franchise, there nothing in the video that would lessen your first playthrough, if anything itll get you more excited
I getcha, I just like going in blind.
Game feels good. The original Alien soundtrack really helps to nail the tone
The commentator though...I find him incredibly annoying, why is he so popular on Youtube? His girly boy mannerisms are really irritating
because hes "random and funny" as my 13 year old cousin says
Jesus f**k is he annoying. He's a perfect reminder of why I hate "the Youtube generation", especially when it comes to the cinema. "Oh shiiit! f**k, of f**k, oh....what the fuh? What is that? Huh. Weird"
Ever have a thought you didn't say out loud?

I do love Darkness. xD
I've avoided watching it - mostly because I don't want this guy spoiling the experience of the first 20 minutes. I've seen a brief clip of the start from the EGX panel and it looked wonderful and atmospheric. That can tide me over until next week.
What is wonderful is seeing footage and etc early on, instead of the day before(*cough* ACM). Shows some confidence in the game.
I used to watch PewDiePie when he had less than a million subscribers and was mildly amusing back then (his reactions to horror games were genuine and pretty funny actually). Nowadays... he's just being stupid in front of the camera? I don't know. Still watched the vid and I'm so hyped for this game right now.
Btw, have you guys seen this video?

It doesn't contain any spoilers, it's from the survivor mode. I had some doubts before about the Alien AI and behavior, but after watching it I'm pretty sure it's going to be fun to play.

You just answered your own question. He is the most popular Youtuber by far. Sega wants the game to appeal to a wide audience, plus developers give him early access to games all the time for this very reason. You may not like it, but it is what it is.
After watching the footage, all i can say is that Creative assembly have done a wonderfull job here.
. The look and feel of the movie is beautifuly captured in every aspect.
only this pewdiepie guy cleary have not watched any of the alien movies and knows nothing about the alien universe .
His silly jibber jabber really breaks the atmo in the intro level. So far he has not posted a second upload so
Mabey the people at sega stopped him before the game is released next week.

Yeah, I'm hoping CA looked at the Propsummit site when developing the Nostromo DLC as on Propsummit we were beginning to imagine how the other parts of the Nostromo we don't see in the movie would look and work. I'll be interested to see what they've come up with.
The Torrens interior looks terrific.
There is something really fishy about this peepee guy. Look at this vid. Look how little comments it has. Only about 20. You all know how many comments has a video with 1 mil + views. Oh, for goodness sakes; that YouTube commentator! He's beyond irritating. Every time that he says "Bro", I want to punch him in his stupid, pink headphone wearing face. Also, why does he open with saying that he's been looking forward to this game so much if you knows next to nothing about the 'Alien' films?
Quote[during Sigourney's narration at the start] "Who is she?!"
Quote[looking at the Nostromo report] "Ohhh, Ripley was onboard the Nostromo. I'm playing as Ripley! So [our character] was a part of it. We have a black past but I guess that's what makes us so badass"
Look, it's fine if someone doesn't know much about the Alien films (it's not like it's a law to have an extensive knowledge of that universe's lore). However, if you're a supposed "professional" journalist, then you NEED to do your research. Particularly when it's for a game that you claim to be anticipating so much.
Would it have killed you to have at least watched Ridley Scott's 'Alien' prior to recording this video?
You. Massive. Twonk.
Quote"What! What's this? Oh, ohhhhh... this must be like... WOAHHHH... space cocoons! So we sleep in these when we travel in spaarce [sic]?!

Quote"Hey, hirrppo [sic]! Hip-hippopotamus; flows like Lola Fossurus... 's topping out, toppidous, is skur...doficuss. I'm not a large water dwelling animal, where did you get that h...his..posifous [sic]"
"English, motherf**ker! Do you speak it?!"
This guy's officially a moron. Also, who in the name of flying monkey turds is Lola Fossurus?!
Anyway, that's enough with the analysis of a buffoon. Onto the game itself...
* I love the use of the soundtrack from 'Alien'.
* The graphics (in general) and the art direction are fantastic.
* The character models are weak (lip-syncing is particularly bad).
* The actress playing Amanda is pretty darn good but then some of the other actors are horrible (Samuels; I'm looking at you - and sadly hearing you).
On the whole though, this is looking very promising indeed ;D
Minor criticism here but why does the Sevastopol look like the Nostromo? It was my understanding that the four towers on the Nostromo were the refineries. Why would the Sevastopol have a refinery?

Would you like to chuck in some casual racism whilst you're on a roll there, pal? Maybe something about a certain word that rhymes with "slipper". I'm sure that people will find it hilarious. Well, you never know; maybe Jim Davidson frequents these boards.

Oh, right... that's exactly what the charts show.

SEGA did their job again . ::) Even PewDiePie lied on making the 2nd video , because they won't let him . Why? I don't know . Maybe the rest of the game is s**t like someone said a few pages before...
Can't they just leave and let us free to watch these videos ? If we want to spoil the game for us , then we shall be allowed to do so.
I will probably start my own playthrough on Hard when the game is released, like I did for Metro Last Light. So if someone wants to watch playthrough without commentary, just gameplay, on 1080p, full blown, on PC, he is welcome :)

Jump to conclusions much? Maybe it's because they don't want the entire game online before it's released and only wanted to give people a taste of the game in order to entice people to purchase it.
Hmm none of the vids posted above load. Have Sega had them removed?
The game has leaked in multiple platforms by now so there's videos going up left and right. None of them are official so that's why they are being taken down until the review embargo lifts this Friday.

Its so nice to see just a normal female once in a while.

Yes, better dont watch it. I already regret it. Or just watch it as far as PeePee went, to really experience this first part without his annoying voice.
SPOILER: there will be a lot of crafting in this game guys. You will need to collect a lot of blueprints, plans, spare parts and all the time build something. Really interesting. I didn't regret the hour long play through. Maybe the first character Ripley interacted with and their slaying (by who?) would have been nice to avoid, but it wasn't really a big deal, period. The character wasn't a main one. Big whoop. Nothing soiled story-wise.
I won't watch anything beyond that.

I liked how much the game ended up being another survival horror title in the vein of classics like Penumbra: Overture , Amnesia: The Dark Descent , & Outlast.
That guy is entirely inattentive to the irate humans with guns.
He's also streaming on Twitch, from much later in the game. I'm not gonna watch much, but things look, uh, very different. SPOILERS.
Spoiler
Amanda is clearly neck-deep in a hive. Cocoons, eggs, facehuggers. I assume this is still Sevastapol judging by the remaining structure, but...
Saw some of the twitch that the guy did and....
Spoiler
It's weird that they're claiming to (and seem to exclusively be)be basing it on the first movie, but yet they have a seemingly aliens-esque hive somehow later on in the game. They've said as much that you'll only be facing one alien throughout the entire game. Do you think they'll re-introduce egg morphing, or will they pull a fast one on us an stick a queen in there?
Spoiler
So far no Queen. Remember the Queen in Aliens was the alternative to Egg Morphing in Alien ... Sooo I'm thinking that they're running with Egg Morphing that we saw in the Deleted Scenes from Alien
Spoiler
I really hope they're going with the egg-morphing, which I always thought was an insane, super-'70s, outright horrifying idea. But I suspect the warrior, for lack of other options, may have had to produce a queen.
It's a nice bit of Aliens frisson, in a hive with a flamethrower - far more terrifying than any actual Aliens game I can remember - but I hope there are not multiple aliens and/or a queen. The hive setting does not bother me, as I believe we saw that same transformation done to parts of the juggernaut on LV-426.
I see, I see.
Spoiler
Damn shame if it's just a standard "oh noes alienz are being produced by a maaasive queen and we gotta stops em before they spreadz" type of hive scenario that the main character usually encounters. Here they actually have a chance to revisit a concept that was deleted but not entirely incompatible.
I think it's inevitable that the worse things get,
Spoiler
the more you will see the alien nest, as it presumably did on Nostromo. The hive section of the game apparently takes place deep in Sevastopol Engineering, judging by the map listing.
I really hope we do not see a queen, and I did not hear one so much as mentioned in the limited stream I watched. I suspect they will not show one, actually. The queen is tired.
Also, re: the flight recorder, I don't know what comes later in the game but judging by the same guy's second video, Amanda discovers it early on behind an authorized door in Apollo Mainframe Systems (Apollo is the Sevastopol AI) and is heartbroken to realize its data has been corrupted. Whether or not it comes back into play later - the recorder's container appeared to have been opened - I have no idea.

Indeed :V Now part of me is curious about what they'll do on the DLC.

Be fair Alien/s/3 all have multiple endings.
Oh, I agree. That's why I'm very tolerant of this. From the hours I have watched, this is easily, easily the best
Alien or
Aliens game ever made.
Also, I cracked and watched a little more. (Not to the end, though.) I won't say much, but re: the original impetus for the story -
Spoiler
Amanda gets what she seeks. And I'm not crying, I'm just cutting some onions.
How its the best Aliens game?
Well, let me clarify - to me and perhaps only me, it is the best game in the entire franchise, no matter what film we choose. (And I adore Aliens, for the record.)
It's incredibly faithful to the aesthetic of Scott's Alien, it's got a decent plot and characters (IMO), and what I think is an incredible performance by Andrea Deck as the voice of Amanda (with Welsh actress Kezia Burrows, I believe, as the physical performer). Its gameplay is simple and effective, and its alien is smart and incredibly powerful.
It's terrifying, it gets full of both suspense and adrenaline, and it surprises me and totally immerses me in that world. It's the Alien game I have wanted since I was a kid. None of the pew-pew Aliens shooters ever meant much to me, and I have played many of them - some were a real good time, like the original AVP, but I found most of the experiences ultimately forgettable. Their hordes of aliens just didn't do for me what the films did. This does.
I'm sorry ACM sucked so hard, but this is a different game and IMO it's very good and should be acknowledged for it. I think the FPS cycle for the franchise played itself out long ago, and I can't resent this game for the failings of another.
I think it would be more fair to say that it's the most atmospheric game. All the footage I've watched makes it look like an exceedingly frustrating actual experience.
Also think the production team wasted an opportunity by not allowing the creature to walk on walls and ceilings, as per the second and third films. It moves well (mostly, at least, because there are many instances of it sliding into a turn, rather than physically moving its legs to provide the motion), but adhering to more surfaces would have allowed its behaviour and hunting to be much more capable.
I'd also say that hiding behind a table to elude it, while tense, feels cheap... The original creature had no way to see where Dallas was, but located him at considerable range and trapped him by thinking three-dimensionally. Same for those who hunted the Marines down. The creatures knew where they were, from all the way over in the atmosphere processor. Couldn't see them, but knew where they were.
I understand the reasons they put it in the game, but in terms of authenticity, random pieces of furniture shouldn't be portrayed as such an insurmountable obstacle to their senses. :)

That's a very good point. However, I also agree that it's pretty much a necessity in terms of game design. Still, it's food for thought. Maybe the reason that the xeno in
'Alien: Isolation' can't sniff out Amanda is because it has a severe case of the sniffles. As long as the alien doesn't wander into the store room of the Sevastopol and come across a crate of Benylin, then Amanda should be safe enough.
QuoteI'd also say that hiding behind a table to elude it, while tense, feels cheap... This ^
Let us be honest, if you have the alien on your tracker, there are chances he's sneaking and you should be worry because he's already hunting you.
I think they really missed an opportunity there.
Staring at it makes the whole scariness goes away.
Instead of actually giving the Alien the sneaky ability and to you the chance to escape they chose to reverse the roles.
You sneak and the Alien can escapes when you hunt it with flamethrower ::)
Also, the Alien in this game wasn't doing much but wandering in corridors with no purpose at all.
But that's the problem when you don't use scripted AI, most of the time the thing has no purpose but to execute random actions with 0 logic. It sure makes the game everytime you play it original because he ain't taking twice the same path but on the opposite he's non repeating useless action the entire game and behave exactly the same way no matter the different levels.
And its behavior were very dumb. That T-Rex like walks he had annoyed me a lot.
While the Alien is not scripted I had the feeling the character I was playing was totally scripted.
The Alien is here, ya got no choice, it's either the table that is close to you, the locker if there are no tables, the flamethrower if you have it or the chance to pullback or use the noise maker if the alien hasn't spotted you.
They could have allowed you to run from it and the ability to lock the doors, break the glass to go through, I don't know but just more possibilities allowing you to escapes and buy some time.
It's even more stressing to know he's hunting you and you can actually escapes depending on what you're going to do in the next 2 seconds while there it was interact in the next two seconds before he sees you but that completely not build enough tension because if he sees you, you do know at 100% what's going to happen.
It would have been much more tense and stressing to have an Alien who when it senses you actually goes ahead, hide and wait for you to commit the mistake.
And that would have been indeed awesome to have him performed wallwalk and gets you like he got Brett.
Imagine the tension, you walk by a room when suddenly catches you from above.

On a side note, I agree with you about the atmosphere.
CA really pulled it out.
Everything related to the "form" of the game and its shape such as designs, sounds, maps and so on looks incredible.
There's definitely the atmosphere I expected and it feels so right!
I'm kinda on a 50/50.
It felt right for the good reasons but it also felt terribly executed.
At the end of the day, it's a video game. The way the Alien works is a game play mechanic to allow you as the player the chance to evade it. If the Alien were to act as you describe and be more in line with the films it would just be a complete exercise in frustration as you would simply be killed over and over again without hardly ever seeing it.
While I agree with the point made about hiding behind a table, I'm not going to criticise it as I see no other way it could have been done in terms of this being a video game and not a movie.

It's said all the time about those type of mechanics not translating well into a videogame, until some developer comes around and implements it right.
The more these games evolve, the closer the experience is to the film. Not just visually but gameplay wise so I'm sure eventually someone will get it 99% right. A:I seems to be a huge step in that direction so that's most important.
I understand the concern about the missed oportunity, but what I don't get is the constant bashing this game gets from the target audience. I mean, we have the best possible rendition some company did to our beloved franchise and we nitpick every flaw we can? Not fair imho.

To me, it's not a true survival horror game unless it's exceedingly frustrating.
I think they made the alien very smart. It does hunt, it will wait or stop dead for you, waiting for you to move. It will hide in vents, it will come after you below the floors when you're there. I mean, if they'd added crawling around on the ceiling, etc. to its other talents, sure, could've been nice, but as it is I think it is damn impressive.

QuoteAnd? What's the issue here? What possible chance would you have to evade it if you could never see it in the first place?
Well in the first place it shouldn't be "never" BUT less than common.
The Alien in Alien: Isolation is way too exposed especially for something that tries to mimic the first movie.
And... well... it was dumb, I mean, the creature was doing a lot of stupid things.
I loved the script element that randomly got it to RUN in one direction for a few meters.
It was so random that it never made me scared because I knew that because of randomness (and stupidity) of the algorithm I could Die or live at any moment without having done anything at all.
That made me laugh at some point because if you could predict it, You actually could stand in front of the Alien for 0.5 sec and if you're lucky enough, the event trigger and the alien after seeing you (but not enough time to activate the "hunt player event") would run in the opposite direction leaving you alone standing.
It gave me quite a laugh :P
The alien barking like a dog / lion also gave me quite a good laugh. It felt like they took the Aliens from AVP and putted it in the body of the first alien. Not to mention the death scenes.
QuoteYes it would actually, stupidly so to the point where it would not be enjoyable to play.

I can answer those questions - I may as well write out a plot summary for those who want to be spoiled:
Spoiler
The game starts with Amanda being approached by Samuels to accompany the crew of the Torrens to Sevastopol to find the Nostromo's flight recorder (which IIRC is either found in debris or from the crew of the Anesidora intercepting a data packet that was sent from the ship to W-Y). The Torrens arrives at Sevastopol, but Amanda is separated from Samuels and Taylor when they try to cross a bridge to the station.
Amanda makes it inside and finds out that the station was in the process of being decommissioned when all hell broke loose. She meets Axel, a worker who tells her that there's a "creature" loose on the ship. They make it past several groups of armed civilians (who have segmented off and are trying to fend for themselves through violent means if necessary), and Axel is killed soon after by the xeno in an analogue to Brett's death in the original film.
Amanda eventually finds Samuels and Taylor, the latter of whom has been injured. She goes down to the infirmary deck and meets Dr. Kuhlman, who offers to get her inside if she can provide him a means of escape. She does so (and has to avoid the xeno again) and finds the trauma kit needed to treat Taylor, as well as the flight recorder (which is corrupted and can't be read). When she comes back, Kuhlman is killed by the xeno. She makes it back to Samuels and Taylor, though not before she has a close encounter with the xeno (and is only saved by the triggering of a trap that trashes most of the area).
She makes it back to Samuels and Taylor only to discover that they are now with a friendly faction called the Marshals, led by a pragmatic man named Waits. In the Marshall's office, she meets a member of the ship that delivered the flight recorder to the station in the first place. The man, Marlow, offers to tell Amanda everything he knows if she lets him go, and begins telling his story.
In flashback, Marlow and the rest of the crew of the Anesidora set down on a planet and make their way through to the derelict ship. Once inside, they find traces of the Nostromo crew's presence and Marlow disables the ship's distress beacon. The captain of the ship goes down below and (like Kane) discovers the facehugger eggs, one of which attacks her when she gets close.
In the present, Amanda agrees to help Waits and another technician (Ricardo) box in the creature in the station's spire, while Samuels goes off to get access to the APOLLO computer system. Amanda tries to trap the creature, but it escapes the area. She then improvises a plan with Ricardo to use herself as bait and draw it into the abandoned Gemini Labs sector.
Once there, she successfully triggers a lockdown and detachment of the sector, but Waits locks her in with the creature. She escapes through another airlock and makes it back to the station. Once there, Waits tells her that it had to be done and they're safe, but before she gets back to the office, the Working Joes attack and massacre everyone inside, with the exception of Marlow, Taylor (both of whom have gone missing) and Ricardo. She decides to find Samuels and activate APOLLO so they can stop the androids from killing anyone else.
With Ricardo as mission control, Amanda finds Samuels in the Seegson Synthetics labs. Samuels activates APOLLO so that she can speak to it, but dies in the process when the machine overloads. She eventually finds APOLLO and accesses it, only to discover that W-Y wants to protect the xeno at all costs. She also finds out from Ricardo that Taylor has made a deal with Marlow so they can escape and harness the creature.
In her quest to stop the Joes, Amanda accesses the station's reactor core and finds a nest with multiple xenos and eggs. She overloads the cores, which not only doesn't eradicate the threat completely, but allows Marlow to access the Anesidora (which is in orbit around the station) and draw it in so he and Taylor can get aboard. Amanda eventually uses an emergency shuttle to access the Anesidora and get aboard, where she finds a couple of facehuggers and the last transmission from her mother before she went into cryosleep (a personal message to Amanda detailing the situation).
Marlow appears behind a glass wall with Taylor (who he's taken hostage) and says that he intends to overload the ship's systems to destroy everyone and the station. Taylor stops him, though not before he initiates the self-destruct process. Amanda and Taylor work to stop the overload, but it only partially works. Taylor is killed by an explosion and Amanda escapes the ship before it blows up.
Once she arrives, Ricardo tells her how to access the Torrens so they can escape, and also reveals that the station is losing power and will get sucked into a nearby gas giant's gravity well soon. However, when she goes back to find him, she discovers that he's been facehugged. Amanda eventually gets in contact with Verlaine (the captain of the Torrens) and enacts a complicated plan to get back aboard the ship before the station's systems fail completely.
Once aboard the Torrens, she finds the xenomorph inside and (in a spacesuit) ejects it and herself from an airlock. The game ends with her floating in space as a ship flashes its lights at her.

Well I guess basic common sense isn't your strong point then. I guess no one's replicated the perfect Alien experience because they simply can't be bothered. According to you, it sounds very easy to accomplish. God damn Creative Assembly and their retarded alien...
Alright - enough, please.

I've tried it. Can't really judge since I got about 2 minutes in and pussied out. Played as Parker.

EDIT: Oooohhhhh, 666 posts!
I don't care about the girl, the death was amazingly cheap. You sit right there for 1 min and something comes and kills you - wtf. This is on par with the random grenade deaths in CoD mp - you are running, something explodes and you die. She could've stepped back so the door can close itself but still that was a cheap death. I hope I won't die in such ways when I reach the xeno ;D

Honestly, I saw nothing cheap about that death at all. She ran into a closed off space with no exits and left the door open. She may as well have wrapped a ribbon around herself and written the word "lunch" on her forehead. Quite frankly, the alien would be a fool not to kill such an easy prey.
And it was about 6 seconds, from the looks of it. I can't see if it's down the end of the corridor where she looked.
Quote from: Corporal Hicks on Oct 07, 2014, 03:05:32 PMI can't see if it's down the end of the corridor where she looked.
Yeah, it was there.
So it probably saw her then. Nothing cheap about that.
Why it took so long for it to get to her then?
She was running around in the medlab. It heard her, maybe saw her and found her (very quickly). What the hell is the "cheap" part? This is a game where stealth and caution is valued - you're not supposed to be running around being a fool.
Stealth doesn't always means moving slowly. In Splinter Cell (any one of them) I can do 90% of the missions running still being stealth - without alerting anyone.

Btw I have found a definite proof that the xeno is cheating. I managed to lock it in a room without vents, all doors were locked, basically I carefully picked the room to have no ways of getting out besides the doors that I will lock, and I lured it in and managed to lock it inside but a few moments later it teleported outside - that's cheating, sorry. You can try and test this out by yourself guys.
I'm on hard and can understand why people are saying it's frustrating but of you keep getting killed it's about finding another way. Quick Rewire tutorial from anyone? I haven't a clue what I'm doing except for turning off cameras. What's the other things for?
You can route power to open doors too. Or turn on speaker systems.
Oh ok. I assume changing the air systems helps you sneak?

I have had some suspected teleports as well. I guess it wouldn't be much fun if you locked it in a room and didn't see it for the rest of the game. They should have made it so the alien always has a way without having to teleport
Some people may find it fun so it should be possible to lock it if you like to. Such forced rules on the player are bad thing.
it would be fun for 5 minutes as you run through the rest of the Alien portion but then what would be the point? it is cheap that it teleports but it seems pretty essential

There's control panels above certain doors which you can override. From what I've seen in gameplay videos, the overrides only last so long and it will unlock itself again.

Thats what im talking about. Not sure you can lock the alien at all
Some rewire panels have the option to disable door access.
I've heard some wild stories about people can do with the rewires, but I've yet to see anything in action beyond opening the door they need.
I did watch Angry Joe play last night, and noticed for the first time the emergency override. Neat.

Finished it. Its 8 in the mornin. Worth it. Overall its the best Alien game to date. Still dont know what to think about the ending. Besides some cheap annoying deaths, the lack of characterism, a few bugs its a must have.
I only used the walktrough in the 17th mission....damn i wanted to get in bed already...
I just finished it, steam says time played was 26 hours, the game did crash a lot forcing me to redo a lot of game time. and just leaving it paused to get some quick things done.
The best alien game for sure. Atmosphere was perfect almost all the way around. Now time for spoilers end game included

The marlow mission was awesome, I loved exploring the derelict, even if it was for a little bit. It felt just like the movie which was fantastic. A much better representation of it then in A:CM. It was done perfectly.
The working joes, i found to be a nuisances over anything else. I would just outrun them or hide and they would leave me alone 90% of the time. I didnt find them scary or frightful. I always felt annoyed when i encountered them.
Even though im not a fan of the eggmorphing, it was pretty cool. Done amazingly well being in the hive was terrifying. I didnt think we would see anything like that. After getting rid of the first alien i assumed it was just going to be a wrap up of the story. I was glad i was wrong. The reactor was a really awesome place in itself. going through the hive and seeing all the blimps was perfect.
Getting abducted, I didnt expect it but i should have That was a great part having to stumble your way back, the two aliens dropping infront of you was really cool. The Alien animation was damn near amazing. I know a lot of people were getting bent out of shape because of the design but i think it worked amazingly well. Especially after doing the EVA, watching the aliens climb around the umbilical was awesome. I wish i could have gotten screenshots of it..
And the one part that scared me the most. Opening that door. and the alien being THERE.
Overall great game, would upgrade my pc to play it with ewer problems if i could. But maybe in a few months. I Hope we get to see more story progression even in dlc or a new game, or a book. I loved this game.

Well it looked like some of the the people were being crushed and made into egg shapes. But i guess with that many eggs it could have been a queen deeper in the core than we went. The eggs did look just like the movie though which was awesome..
Also i was afraid to use anything against the alien for fear of it learning. It did stop responding to the flares as well as it used to, In the beginning it would entrance it for 5+seconds, and by the end it would walk over to it, stare at it for a second and walk away, chase and kill me.. I tried to limit the amount of times i used the flame thrower on it, never used a noise maker on it, or pipe bomb or Molotov.
But there were a ton of people missing and a dozens of aliens so it could have been egg morphing. IF we could pick levels to play that would be easier, but unfortunatly having to play through the entire game to see certain parts sorta sucks.

Best time to explore is after you do the Anesidora. I've managed to find another 3 Nostromo logs. Only 2 left.
Spoiler
I need to get Dr. Morley's keycard now and I'm playing on Hard on Xbox One and this bit seems impossible, mainly due to the fact that Alien almost always knows that I'm inside the locker that's around the area there is a keycard. You know, Staff Quarters. I can't seem to outsmart it, I've tried gazillion of tactics

I was wondering that earlier. I dont even remember seeing it in the movie.

also hearing all of the alien screams and hisses is terrifying through the game
There's one on the table in the Exoplanet lab, as in the EGX and press demo. That one talks.
There was also one in a shelf in a locked room in the Systech tower.
Well, i was sure you can use terminals, reading mails etc...without the worriging of being killed by the Alien. I was wrong.
Its really hard to know the amount of scripted events in this game related to the alien, and that is a good point

There aren't that many scripted events.
Aye, very few scripted events. Point to remember is that while you are doing different things, like powering up a generator, cutting through something etc. time is not paused. The Alien can get you. I think looking at map is the only point when the game is actually paused.
I wasnt sure if it could get you so i always made sure to be extra careful when doing those things
Sometimes, there are moments or sections in the gane when i think..."well, he is in the vents...i hear it, but it has been there for 10 minutes now...so its clear that the alien will not show up here for designe purpose"...and then, im dead 5 seconds later
It seems he can do whatever he want in the game lol
Looking other people playthroughs...they are so different from mine O_O
they did say that every play would be different. I run around jump and do whatever during the medical area when you have to start the generators

Seriously? I crafted the hell out of everything. Pipe bomb + androids = kablowie
Why? That would attract the alien and most of the times you can just run by them.
I used pipbombs and emps on the androids never had a problem with the alien coming. and i never used a noisemaker on an alien just flares
You have to know the right moment to use every device. If the alien its arround (entering and leaving the vents) even a small mele fight can annoy him

Sure, I've crafted everything, and I used pipe bombs and flashbangs sometimes. You can also place those items on the ground and they act as proximity sensors and you can ensure temporal safety or at least you'd know where the creature is if you placed it strategically.
Anyway, the safest thing to do with terminals is to quickly browse through everything and then retreat to a closet and then pull out a map screen from which you can access all the logs and read them without exposing yourself to Alien.
Finished it. Enjoyed it.

So for the first two thirds of the game, was it just the one Alien stalking you? Or was it one of many from the hive? Having more than one would seem to explain how it seemed to be everywhere at once.
I would say my only minor gripe was the lack of story. For a game that some will want to treat as canonical wirh superb production values and even original cast recordings, I honestly don't understand why more effort isn't put into the overall narrative. I know it's a game about Isolation but I'd happily slice 5 hours off the campaign in exchange for a meatier story. It starts off promisingly with the tour of the Torrens crew, and the run around with Axel, then nothing really happens from then on in terms of characterisation.

You're most likely not going to get an answer ever. It's been purposely kept vague for people to speculate.
QuoteThere are many mysteries and stories in Alien: Isolation and Amanda doesn't get to learn everything about the world she is trapped in," a CA spokesperson wrote in an email. "Some mysteries remain, unanswered. The player, like the inhabitants of Sevastopol can speculate on the wider events

I relied on it. I used them sparingly on the alien, so he never caught on. I used a couple noisemakers in the later part of the game and without them, I would have gotten killed. Used a few pipe bombs on the droids when I had multiple ones chasing me. Huge save. I killed 4 with one if I recall. Without the pipe bomb, I do not move on.
I felt the EMP devices were worthless. I used a malatov once to scare an alien from stalking me in an air vent. Smoke bomb once to cover my escape from some humans.
I felt the crafting system saved my life.
The story was in the extras you find, reminds me of avp2 finding data pads and stuff.

Nope. It's just easy to tell that the Xeno isn't going to show up in certain areas, and I don't know if it reacts to things like pipe bombs. I kind of just risked it and hoped it would never be loud enough to show up.

I noticed all the computer logs were dated too. I'd sure love to put together a detailed timeline of this new Alien lore. The information from the Weyland Industries site, the new novel trilogy, fire and stone, plus this game and of course the films themselves would make compelling reading.
Hi guys! Could you help me, please....
Somebody knows where I can find the walkthrough in texts?
Can anyone explain to me how the hell I get the doors open that require a power restore? I'm playing the game a second time and still can't open certain areas. Something is going right over my head.
I'm pretty sure they're just not openable until later on in the actual story.
I've finished the story mode and both DLC missions and died like a million times but still haven't got the 100 deaths trophy. Do you only get it when playing the main story mode? Does survivor mode and DLC count?
Yes it stacks across all modes. Just keep playing with the alien. If you keep experimenting to see what you can and cannot do with the alien, you'll hit that number soon enough.

Im on my first playthrough of this and I think I'm near(ish) the ending. I presume that because it feels like the game was coming to its conclusion several times and several hours ago already although each time it didnt I was strangely pleased despite some complaints the game was way too long.
Anyway in terms of collectibles I really want to find all of the nostromo logs (not too fussed about the general ones on the computers I'll do a playthrough and get all of those another time) but if its going to take me an extra couple of hours to sneak around all the various locations ive previously been, to get into areas I couldnt before I think i'll just finish the game so I dont ruin the pacing of the last few missions.
I've got the level 3 door decoder device and the ion torch so there shouldn't be any doors (barring ones I still may need to find codes for) I now can't enter right? Im just past the bit where you see

So should I go find them or will it just ruin the last hour or so for me and I should just come back and do all that in another playthrough?
If all the service trams are still open you can still get all the logs. Chapter sixteen is the best time to explore and pick up everything though.
Getting all the logs should take about forty-five minutes if you know where to look.

I think im on chapter 16 now actually. Sweet I'll go hunt them down. Shouldnt take too long even without a guide then. Maybes an hour or more. Its basically going to be any door that I havent yet opened. I can remember at least 3 doors in the first few areas of the game I couldnt get through and im guessing theyll be inside those.
Edit: Bollocks it turned out I was literally just past the point of no return by a matter of minutes. I ended up finding 6 of the 10 anyway so thats pretty good without doing any of the backtracking.
Absolutely loved the game. The long length didnt bother me at all. After the first 5 or 6 hours I was worried I'd grow bored but they constantly switch things up and then just when you think things are getting easier because youve found a new weapon they throw another curve ball at you.
When I got the flamethrower and realised it was basically a get out of jail card if I was spotted I was worried the rest of the game would become a cake walk. It kind of was compared to my first proper encounter in the med bay but then there was a section near the end where i'd almost ran out of fuel for it and there was two aliens roaming in the dark, I could barely see a thing and the music was so loud and intense I couldnt hear them either. Suffice to say the same feeling id gotten in med bay more than 10 hours earlier, of panic, tension and dread returned with a vengeancane.
Absolutely brilliant game. Such a shame about the shockingly piss poor ending after all of that.

Can the Alien hear the motion tracker if it's near you or see you if you look around too much while hideing in a locker?
Apparently it can hear the tracker if it's close.
What I personally found was that during the missions when the alien was hunting me (rather than roaming around randomly), it would dash straight towards my room at top speed whenever I held out the tracker, even if it was halfway across San Cristobal.
It'll check lockers if it sees a snatch of you getting into it, or if it's just super pissed off; not sure if moving within the locker affects it (other than failing to hold your breath if it's actually looking in, obviously). Apparently the sound of the locker opening/closing isn't nearly as loud and obvious to the alien as it is to you.

Thanks, just started playing the game and the Alien keeps finding and killing me over and over on mission 6, (when your objective is to find doctors office then his key card).
Yup, I ended up having to do that one with zero motion tracker use and vice-like buttock clenching.
The big thing to keep in mind is that you rarely have to use a locker, there's usually a desk/stretcher to hide under or an obstacle to duck behind. And whichever you choose, darkness is always helpful. Keep moving whenever it's out of view, walking should be just as effective as crouching if it can't see you; staying in the same area for ages seems to rile it up when it's hunting.
Depending on your difficulty level and the alien's state of aggression, a flare can be REALLY useful too - sometimes it just sits staring at it for ages.

Ok this was probably my hardest mission. The part where you have to find the doctor's card and the first time you see the Alien coming down from the ceiling vent.
As soon as he starts coming down the ceiling I remember running under it and to the left where I believe I entered one of those floor cabinets on wheels. It's probably like 5-10 meters from the vent where the alien is coming down from.
Once he leaves towards the other side continue to the left and enter this room to find a card i believe to enter some other hallway where the doctor's room. But forget this I haven't played in months can't remember the rest.
Just google mission 6 walkthrough or something. :)
