Come December 19th, Alien fans and gamers alike will be able to strap on their VR headsets and step into the boots of Zula Hendricks in the upcoming action-horror game, Alien: Rogue Incursion. It feels like we’ve been anticipating this game for a while, first hearing of it’s development back in 2022 as an untitled ‘Aliens’ game.

On ‘Alien Day’ in April 2024, the game was officially announced as Alien: Rogue Incursion. We learned more about the game over the summer during San Diego Comic Con, where the folks at Survios were kind enough to sit down with Alien vs. Predator Galaxy for an interview. As the release date draws nearer, we received an invite to visit the Survios office in southern California for a chance to give this game a test drive, and of course I had to venture out there (from the AvP Galaxy US office in Salt Lake City).

Fantastic work on this, RidgeTop! I miss this level of actual detail in hands-on reports. I'm really enjoying what I'm hearing about the game so far. I've just brought a Meta Quest 3 myself in preparation for Rogue Incursion, and I've been loving it.

Thanks Hicks! Took inspiration from your old studio visit write ups.

This took me too much time, but here's the video version of my impressions article. Hope everyone enjoys!

So the 2146 date places this after Zula's previous four adventures

Defiance 2138
Prototype 2139
Resistance 2140
Rescue 2145

Then you have both Davis and Zula return in 2186 with Davis in Colony War and Zula in Inferno's Fall.

The fact that Alex White is the writer was the sale point that made me cave and buy a PSVR2! Looking forward to the experience!

Genuine question, was the game fun?

Very cool - gave me a whole new perspective on the game. Well done!

Wish there as a way to play it on consoles!

I certainly had fun playing the demo, granted I do consider tense survival-horror type games to be fun.

Glad to hear it! Yeah I also wish it could've had a non-VR mode like some other VR games have done. I assumed that's what it was going to be based on the wording of that older press release. But as an Alien game built from the group up for VR, definitely seems like the way it's meant to be played.

Also if anyone is looking to get into VR, both PSVR2 and Meta Quest are heavily discounted right now.

Hey Ridge how did the graphics compare to the VR attraction "Descent" that popped up in Orange County?

Mike’s Monsters

The graphics are way better than Descent was in my opinion. Even though I didn't get to play Rogue Incursion, watching Ridgetop play it definitely confirmed the better graphics. Descent had alright graphics, but wasn't fantastic to me (Ridgetop and I did that game together once too!). Rogue Incursion looks much nicer.

Graphics in Rogue Incursion are definitely better. You can see what the visuals looked like in Descent in this video:

In Descent the visuals are running off GearVR (2015 cell phone headset tech), so for an untethered experience using that hardware, what they did was quite impressive. I feel like the environmental immersion also helped to overlook any graphical shortcomings.
