The gun is bad enough in three shot mode. But if you upgrade it to fire five shots, well, You can forget about hitting anything with it. Will they patch it? Because i hardly see anyone using it.

For me the only real usage of this gun is if you use the under barrel flamethrower, otherwise its completely useless.

........ Interesting someone actually used the correct term for the gun known in the game as a "Assault Rifle." XD

Well note that is IS using a 7.62 bullet (I'm assuming though it's like the Pulse rifle, caseless..... I'll have to check that out though actually. xD ) and back when the FN FAL and M14 were tested at fully automatic fire, the caliber had a notorious kick that often threw the lead off target, hence why all the Battle Rifles like them and the G3 were strictly used as Semi-Automatic weapons.

My suggestion when using this weapon is to try aiming for the feet and legs of the Xenomorph so when the recoil kicks in, it can cause the ammunition to strike the alien in the face. I have killed Aliens in one three round burst at times, but usually I can get them in two or three depending on their perks. = )

Though in my opinion, the five shot burst is completely pointless to have. Mostly because it eats your magazine very fast and your stuck with a 30 round magazine unlike the Pulse Rifle boys. = P

It's actually my favorite gun to use in the game, I have very few problems with it. The flamethrower is also nothing to scoff at either. I love going all R.J. MacReady on the Xenomorph players.  xD

I'll try a shot at then with the five shot and by aiming by the feet.

Also forgot to mention, when they are standing up, try shooting them in the chest so the shots ride up to the head. Again, this often kills them too. (and again, the amount of shots needed is dependent on the perks the Xenomorph player has. )

I actually got a pretty good kill streak going with this gun equiped.

See? It's a pretty lethal weapon when you know the tricks and strengths of this rifle.

I think the main reason it's not a popular weapon is because people tend to hip fire these things like the Marines tend to do in the movie with the Pulse Rifle. Can easily get away with that with the fully automatic Pulse Rifle, but definitely not the "Assault Rifle." xD

Just shoulder the gun every chance you can and aim where I told you to aim before you fire it, the gun will serve you well. = )

There is a reason why this gun is very deadly in the hands of the Weyland-Yutani PMCs. This rifle can eat chunks of your life and fast, even with armor on. xD

Inverse Effect

Ive noticed for some reason that the guns have less recoil in singleplayer.

predxeno

Isn't their an upgrade that specifically addresses the recoil issue?

Strange, I seem to rip through the bugs with it- most of the time, that is.  ;)
