Title: PS4 / X-Box One?
Post by: Xenoscream on Dec 13, 2013, 10:43:34 AM
Will this game just die a death if it's not on the next gen consoles? I can see this being a big problem if it's only on last gen and is not released for a while.

While I have no plans to switch to the PS4 just yet (Still have a few great ps3 games I need to play (Last of Us, Beyond:Two Souls) I can imagine around March time next year I will pick one up and I fully expect more people to do so soon as well.

I remember one of the (supposed) GBX devs commenting how he'd seen Isolation in motion on the PS4. That said, we're at that cross-over point between generations and it'd be a really terrible business move to only release on the last generation.

Yeah agreed, I'm sure there are a few games that may fall between the cracks, just hope this isn't one of them. I'm betting people are going to be picking up PS4s much faster than with the PS3s due to the more affordable price tag this time round (although we in the UK are shafted as usual).

It's meant to come out on current and next gen consoles if this old job listing is still right.

Just like the last time the new consoles came out, companies were still making new titles for current and last gen consoles. I have no doubt this will continue for at least a year. For Pete's sake, we had these things for what, 10 years? I intend to keep using my xbox 360 up until I have to purchase the X-One because I would miss out on the next installment of a franchise I like.

Knowing how similar the architecture of the new console is to the PC architecture - yes, it will be on PC. We may safely say that we will see way more games for PC during this gen compared to the last one.

Exactly. No need to fear.

lol PS4 is not even support PS3 games, what a shot in the own foot,  so i'll stick with PS3 for a while, PS Exclusives will be released for PS3 for 1-2 years still and i dont give a F about the 1080p, everything regarding that will go on my pc and still will look better on pc than on ps4

as for the release, Sega released the AVP2010 and ACM for windows aswell almost every console, so why woulndt this one? ;)

It's good that the PS4 and X-Box One will be getting Isolation but from what the developers say, it doesn't sound like it'll be much more than a graphical enhancement over the previous-gen builds.  In a way, this reminds me of the days that I owned a Sega Dreamcast and had to deal with prettier "ports" or PS2 games instead of original games that really took advantage of the Dreamcast's hardware.

Right now, neither PS4 or X-Box One has any game in its arsenal that would have me consider an entire system purchase.  Thankfully, I won't have to do this in the case of Alien: Isolation either.    :D

Why would Alien: Isolation be anything more than a graphical upgrade for next gen consoles?
Title: Re: PS4 / X-Box One?

Because next gen systems can handle more game content too...

What exactly could they do in Isolation that these old gen consoles couldn't do gameplay wise?

It's coming out for old gen so I am not sure what you're asking...

I know people are annoyed with the transition phase but the resoulution is simple. Keep using your old gen console for games like, BF4, COD, AC, etc. First gen games on new consoles are not going to look nearly as good as the next few generations games will. Because of that, I am keeping my 360 for a little while longer. No need to upgrade just yet when it can handle a lot of the games I just mentioned.

A question a little off-topic, but I don´t know where ask. I could run this game with a ATI Radeon 6850 1gb and 4gb of RAM?

Maximum graphical settings have multipass rendering effects and multiples 4K textures for hero objects, which will murder the shit out of your card.

And with minimum graphic settings? Maybe I can play it well if i put 640x840 of resolution.

You need more RAM as well. You can get some from here.

It sounds like you'll probably need a lot better processor as well.

That's actually not bad, you might want to overclock it as well for even better performance.

But really, I'm not too sure about that video card but I'm almost certain the minimum required RAM for this game will be at least 8gb.

I think that the video card (the Radeon 7750 1gb) is ok to play with medium graphic settings, and I need more RAM. I found this page with the predicted requirements of the game:

Thanks for the help!

Fairly certain you'll be able to run the game fine on minimum or medium settings.

For me it will be on the PS4. Easiest way to play. Just bought a new iMac and i don't think the game will be realesed on OSX. Hope it will.

Talking about PS4 vs One: i think the major difference will be the framerate and/or the resolution just like the acutal games. Old vs Next: by having more power in the next gen CA should use it for the AI of the Alien. It's the only reason that matters. Talking bout graphics, i think there will no major differences beside the dynamic lightning/shadows and texture resolution.

It's possible they do something with the second screen on X1 and PS4 since they both seem to have that ability with phones etc.  Smartglass on my X1 is 1000x better than it was on the 360 (which was super slow).

Maybe have the motion tracker on an app for your phone? Maybe that would make it easier though (cause it blurs the screen normally)? Then again you would have to look away from the TV unless you were holding it up with the TV in sight. Might be a good idea...

They could also have station maps and that code/frequency cracker on the app too.

Actually now that I think of it, that would be kind of cool to use your phone as a tool for this game.

I have used the Battlelog app for Battlefield 4 and it is nice to change your loadouts during the loading screen. Sometimes pulling up the map on the phone comes in handy too.

Exactly.  If done well, it can at least be a fun/novel way to get your role-play on in greater fashion.  ;)  Like, in Dead Rising 3, you can call and text characters in-game from your phone with the smartglass companion app, heh.

Having a map at the very least could be helpful, in this kind of game.

You can't say for sure. The game may get toned down like Dark Souls 2 and Watchdogs.

If it doesn't flop, definitely getting it for my PS4. Hopefully they make use of the touchpad somehow and the PS app's second screen. Would be neat.

I used to be the same, grew up on counter strike betas and TFC, but in my old age I much prefer the console, it took some getting used to but sofa plus huge screen plus great sound system tops it for me.

Headphones are a lot better for this type of game, and why couldn't you use speakers and a TV while playing on PC? That's not a good argument for consoles.
