What's the best quote on the entire franchise for you?
I will go with:
"You've been in my life so long, I can't remember anything else"
We made you because we could.
They mostly come at night, mostly.
I can't lie to you about your chances, but...you have my sympathies.
"It's structural perfection is matched only by it's hostility."
"Game over, Man! Game over!"
Seriously? Is there any other quote from the entire series that is better known? Maybe "Get away from her, you Bitch!" or something else from 'ALIENS' - the most oft quoted movie in the series.
-Windebieste.

The winner. Mine has always been:
"Not bad, for a human."
winde is right tho, ALIENS has boat loads of great quotes.
"I find you unpleasant to be around" from Clemens
And
That whole exchange from David and Holloway is so good and ends with such a grate zing from David.
"Not too close I hope."
" Hey I don't know if you've been keeping up on current events but we just got our asses kicked pal."
Or..
"Get away from her you bitch."
... and from Alien it's actually rather obscure but when Ripley is trying to talk but Parker keeps interrupting. It feels like she's actually pissed:
"Will you listen to me Parker! Shut up!" - I get a kick out of that everytime.
It's 'cos she was. Riddles had a quiet word to Kotto and told him to wind Weaver up
The way Veronica Cartwright described that whole scenario is hilarious. Makes perfect sense. One of the most admirable qualities of Scott on Alien was the way he took hold of the actors and knew he was going to have to make the situation tense to get genuine reactions.
I don't know, the thread title and the topic post are two different things to me. The most memorable quote in the franchise?
As others have said, by most memorable it's going to be something from Aliens.
"Game Over, man!"
"Get away from her, you bitch!"
"In the pipe, five by five."
"Not bad for a human."
"Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?" "No, have you?"
"Is this gonna be a stand-up fight, sir, or another bug hunt?"
"Alright, we waste em! No offense."
"Hey, maybe you haven't been keepin' up on current events but we just got our asses kicked, pal!"
"Nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure."
"They mostly come at night, mostly."
Some of my favorites from Alien/Alien 3
"Right."
"Let's talk about the bonus situation."
"I admire it's purity. A survivor. Unclouded by conscious, remorse, or delusions of morality."
"This is rumor control, here are the facts!"
"You religious?" "Me? Shit no, I got a job!"
"CIGARETTES!"
"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings"
"Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair"

Probably the line from Ash about the Alien's perfection, hostility, etc.
For me it was Dillion's speech in Alien 3.
In terms of the general public...I'm sure Hudson's quotes. Any of his dialogue.

I can't say if it's the most memorable for me, but it sure is my favorite piece of dialog. For some reason I can never forget Hudson's hilarious line:" I say we grease this rat-f*ck-son-of-a-b*tch right now!"
Though I believe over time, one of David's quotes will be my favorite.
David is very quotable and Fassbender's tonality and cadence are great. I would love to see a movie with mostly just him being David and doing mad science. Bridged together with narration of his diary that he's keeping. Like a science fiction Cast Away mixed with Dr. Moreau.
I do love Dillons speech from Alien 3, Hicks, but I have to say that the edited version from the theatrical cut is the better version. I think the extended speech isn't nearly as elegant.

Really cringe worthy, mainly for the abuse of some fanS.
Anyway, I always asked myself, Ripley say that one liner expecting the Alien Queen understand what she said and inmediatly leaves Newt and comes for her?? IIRC she already grab Queen's atention since the doors open or I'm cofusing scenes??
She shouldn't show any anger or determination?

The determination of say one liner instead attacking her instantly??
Ok...
Back to the topic, I love the way this line is delivered:
"I think I found Vincent!"
It's a challenge. By that rationale, the Queen shouldn't hiss and scream at Ripley either.
This is one of my favorite pieces of dialogue from Covenant: "When you close your eyes, do you dream of me?" "I don't dream at all."

In that case Ripley should be smarter and just attack the Queen faster so she can distract her attention from Newt that is what she wants in first place.
Anyhow when you say "by that rationale" we talking about humans not Aliens, the Aliens almost always do that hiss and scream before killing his victims right? they're animals. Ripley it's a full grown human, she should know better, but whatever, that fight it's a joke anyway.
In Alien 3, when Ripley's asking Bishop if there was an alien on board, and his reply is, "It was with us all the way." I love that. I think it's because there's so much substance with regards to the alien just from that little statement. This creature that has plagued her, the threat, it's complete brutality, it's with her (and us) all the way. For me, the statement also echoes Ash's reply of "You can't" when asked how do they kill it. It's little touches like that in the earlier films that really reinforce the alien's terror.
Never really thought of it in that overall regard. Good thoughts!

Also, how about "In space, no one can hear you scream." ? That should be the granddaddy of em all.
(Except for the bit when the Alien screams in space. ;D)
I love that bit in the assembly cut when Dillon spits out the water and says "like I said, why not?"
That's some champagne spitting.
I like to keep this handy, .... ch-ching ... for close encounters...

I see that more as them shitting themselves. I wouldn't really describe anyone as moving to save Andrews.
Yeah I thought that as well, but wondered if I was missing something.

Dillon is according to me one of the most badass characters in the alien series, from those speeches to his personality and motivations and he fights an xeno by hand and isnt even scared and says: f**k you, come on, is that all you got? I really hate that line. It was much more relatable in the Paradise script as
QuoteSHAW
You want him to die.
DAVID
"Want" is not a concept I'm familiar
with. That being said...
(a beat)
Everyone hates their parents.
I think everybody "hates" their parents at some point, especially during childhood and since David is still immature in Prometheus I think that would have been a less "wtf are you on about" moment.
'Doesn't everyone want their parents dead?' scans a lot better. I like tying it to Vickers and Weyland. And David too in light of Covenant.
I think "doesn't everyone want their parents dead" is a lot better than "everybody hates their parents." David isn't supposed to conceptualize emotions, he merely mimics them. Why would he in a literal sense hate Weyland. He hates the situational irony of it all and simply waits patiently for Weyland to die. However, shit could have really hit the fan if the engineer did grant Weyland more life. David being so close to an eternity of freedom to have it yanked away in Weyland last breath, only at that point would he'd have truly acquired the emotion of hate.
David: "Allow me, then, a moment to consider."
The instantaneous contempt within that single line was fantastic. Mere moments after flipping the switch to on, the creation has already come to the conclusion that the Creator is Obsolete.
"Kill me" seems to be a memorable quote that has been in several Alien movies.
"blow it out of the airlock..."

This. I don't think David was immature in Prometheus. He was mature from the moment he considered his predicament very early on as shown in his meeting with his creator. He was just biding his time in Prometheus.

Lol! Certainly the most memorable quote from covenant.
Theres too many to mention that I love.
Not so much a quote , but perhaps the scene that gets me every time
"I didn't think you had it in you" - David (Prometheus)
"You know, Burke, I don't know which species is worse. You don't see them f**king each other over for a goddamn percentage."
Man I can't believe no one quoted this one yet.
There's so many, so I think I'll list things I can't choose between because I just coudn't if I tried
1) First glimpse of the derelict in fuzzy VHS crackle and skip, interference. "Ash can you see this?" "Yes, I've never seen anything like it."
2) The Space Jockey's unveiling, how could you not. It's perfect.
3) The entire cathartic thrill ride when, Ripley, out of hope, clings to her surrogate daughter and prepares to be annihilated while the queen is right about to run at them, there's only a minute if not seconds remaining before the reactor goes critical, Bishop saves the day, the score shows off a mix between triumph and anger, and finally they escape as all evidence of the derelict and the colony are wiped off the face of the Earth. Probably one of the best action sequences of all time.
4) (I'm going to be using the Assembly Cut for Alien 3) Clemen's walking down the beach to explore what's happened, find's Ripley, and runs back into the complex. They way the score swells as he dashes past the brightly lit tiny lamps among this desolate land is brilliant
4) Ripley confronting her lost surrogate, more death she feels responsible for, ordering it to be autopsied. It's a lot more poignant then people give it credit for. Though it is interrupted. As sick as it sounds, I'd love to see the uncut version.
5) The cremation of Newt and Hicks.

Yeah, it's "we're on". Never heard that as "one"
I've heard "we're one" before, but I think "we're on" makes more sense.
Egads! This is some weird Dark City s&@t!! It's always been one express elevator to hell, but I think some super pale bald guys in suits changed everything around one of these nights. ;)
It's definitely "We're on" :P
I can see how it might be misinterpreted though. Hudson's face isn't on camera when he says the first part of that line so you can't read his lips, plus there's a lot of background noise on top of it.
Perfect-Orgasm may have a point.
I always liked Ripleys final quote at the end of Alien and Alien 3:
This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo, signing off.
It would make more sense to say "one" to me though.
It's like a waitress saying, "one cheeseburger with fries, coming up". It's like Hudson is serving up one express elevator to hell..
I always felt that Hudson was goofing around and pretending to be an elevator valet. A valet would say something like one express elevator, going down, rather than we're on an express elevator because that would be stating the obvious..
Well if that is true then someone needs to tell both the script writers and the guy who does the subs. However it sounds exactly like we'reona express elevator to hell. The we're part is perfectly clear never the less.
Yeah ive always known the line as "we're on"

Which wasn't heard or viewed till the egg morphing deleted scene was released. But so recognized with the franchise.
This might have been said before, but for me it's:
"I can't lie to you about your chances but... you have my sympathies"
followed by one of the most devious s**t-eating grins in film history lol
"Bonus Situation"
"Cornbread"
"Perfect Organism."
"Right."
"Looks like it's been dead a long time. Fossilized. Looks like it's growing out of the chair"..
"Get away from her you bitch !"
"I'm not a droid!"
"NOOOOOOO !"
"Where's Bowski?!?!" ;) :P
