Is that supposed to be Sony's response to Microsoft buying Activision ?

I guess?  They don't have nearly as much buying power as Microsoft so I doubt they ever had a chance of matching even the Bethesda acquisition.

As I've said before I'm a complete noob when it comes to the videogames world. It's just the proximity of two events in time that made me think one can be a cause of another

Destiny 2 is still pretty popular.  Sure Sony is looking at Bungie to bring them some FPS lettuce to a platform that has long not had its own FPS to lean on.
