The first Teaser/Trailer for the movie has finally been rated. ;D

Just one more week before it hit theaters and online.
EDIT (Dec11):
According to Dark Horizons. The trailer will "maybe" hit tomorrow.

...version 6?!?!?
So....is the movie confirmed for PG-13 or still too early to tell? I see a "14A" logo by Prometheus..... :-X
I'm assuming that's the rating for the trailer itself...but these ARE Canadians...
The thing for the "v6" is for the international versions.
hopefully there will be a red band unrated trailer.

Sorry Rich but not for a PG-13. Or 15's as they general turn into in Ireland.
well done buddy good find ,it will probably have the same content as the one that was leaked, just in awesome hd and we will be able to see things we have missed, screen capture the derelict and have it as a wallpaper, will be good, the trailer will probably get a 12 in the uk.

I don't like redband trailers. They end of up showing everything that's cool. It happened with Predators and AvP: Requiem.
I don't care for a red-band trailer, just happy it is coming out so soon. :) Thanks for the news EEV!
They are silly indeed. The irony in a lot of this rating's board stuff is that the rated R movies of recent times and the redband trailers just come across as being incredibly immature.
"That guy just said f**k, this shit is gonna be badass man".
"Oh man, check out the gore bro".
Hopefully and probably the rating won't make a major difference.
If he gets the music and the pacing right, then I think we'll be in for a great movie.
Here's a bit of perspective for ya....The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will be a hard R and yet its trailer is PG....and the Prometheus Version 6 trailer is 14a. I would guess, based off that assumption that we will get an R film from Ridley Scott and Fox after all.
Just some preliminary ruminations.

There was an unofficial rumbling on Twitter that the trailer will be released on the 12th. Seems to fit.
12th.
this is not what the weyland guy said yesterday. who to believe??
When Prometheus is released theatrically in the uk, it may very well receive a 15 rating, if it's very intense and scary. Cloverfield, a v p (with and without the added cg blood), a v p r, die hard 4.0 ( both versions) and predators all received a 15 certificate. The Dark Knight, terminator 3 (with no cuts) and terminator salvation got a 12a for both different cuts of the film , just u.s. uncut version was known as the directors cut in the u.k. It's surprising how rating systems work from country to country
OH YEAH!
Haha, yes.
Valaquen where exactly were these twitter ruminations?

There was nothing cool in AVPR :P
Can't wait for this!!! Going to be awesome to finally see a trailer!
Finally seeing an HD theatrical trailer will somehow make it all real, y'know? 2.5 years of rumours and speculation... even at this late date, half of me has been expecting Ridley and Co. to jump up and say, "just kidding! There's no movie!" :P
Bring it on... 8)
When the trailer is released I will proceed to screencap every single frame and analyze every shot in excruciating detail.
Just a thought but...
...could there be something behind a trailer going out as 14A in Canada when it could be lower, and might this be an indication the film may well be 18A rated over there (18 in UK)? In the UK, any first trailer shown here 'usually' (unless 'U' or 'PG') gets a lower rating than the films 'probable' release, so it's basically guessing on what the B.B.F.C. sees as an indication, while successive trailers are edited for general audiences. Question is, baring in mind Prometheus hasn't been rated yet, does the fact this trailer is being classed as 14A in Canada (when it could be much lower) indicate the film is expected to be rated higher over there?
Finally, I can watch the HQ trailer 100 times like the LQ.

It'll probably be released in theatres first, FOX will want to make as much as they can out of it, getting the audience to see something else of theirs is the perfect excuse :)

It's interesting how the few other trailers that are 14A on that page are all for R rated films (the trailer for the Thing prequel was also rated 14A). Maybe Prometheus could end up getting an R rating after all?
Seems to me we'll be getting a "15" rating in the UK, not the hoped for "18" based on the evidence of this trailer. Ho hum, at least I dont see the "12a" happening now. ::)

Its driving me insane reading people complain and moan over what the rating of this movie might be... why give a shit? as long as it has the same atmosphere and direction as the first Alien ill be over the moon. Today if the first Alien was released it get a 15 easy...might actually get away with a 12A tbh.

Finally !! I'm with ya man. R-rating doesn't make a good/scary/athmorpheric movie. a 12A movie can be really good to. Lets just see what happens. I have complete faith in Ridley ;D
I think had Alien and Aliens been release today it would probably get a PG-13 rating. Shows such as Walking Dead get a TV14 rating here in the US and depict pretty graphic deaths and sexual acts.
Alien would probably get a pg 13 if the chest burster scene was edited differently with alot less blood, it would get an R if it was as bloody as the 1979 theatrical release. Take most of the f bombs out've aliens and make the colonist chest
burster scene less gory it would get a pg 13 too. It wouldn't really matter in the uk as they would probably both get 15's if released today, the uks 15 rating is quite broad as long as it dosen't dwell on the gory scenes too much. Cloverfield is a 15 in the uk and a pg 13 in the U.S. The Dark knight was borderline 12a, Prometheus looks very dark and intense i think it will receive a 15 just for that purpose.
The only thing I hope for is that the tone is good. And to be honest Ridley has always always delivered on a dark realistic tone within the context of a given picture. Legend for instance is aimed at kids yet Tim Curry is really f**king scary in that.
Watching a film like Die Hard 4.0 you can clearly tell that it was trimmed to bring the rating down. I hope that Prometheus doesn't have really obvious cuts and trims to get the rating down.
A version 6 1 minute trailer sounds like something we'd see in while watching the super bowl. I'm wondering if the first trailer will be a bit longer?
The leaked one was a minute and seven, wasnt it? Unless its a new cut, should be the same, right?
Well there's been 3 that we know of.
1. Reported and described by a theatre owner who had Nielson kiosks.
2. A full description and partial video leak of a guy who was at a testing.
This person mentioned that it started with an image of Ripley and the jaw of an xenomorph and a tagline, "what if the beginning wasn't the beginning" or some shit.
3. The full bootleg leak

Where did the December 12th date for official release of the Prometheus trailer?
I thought starting a new thread was appropriate. If not, mods, please feel free to delete or combine.

If you don't like this date just tell me when it would fit, i can reupload the leaked trailer with a new release date in the info box :D
As excited as I am for the official trailer, I have to admit that it will mark the beginning of the hardest part of this marathon: a complete and total Prometheus blackout at my house... which primarily means avoiding this and all other related websites, since I know some of you cats are gonna figure out the whole damn movie from that one minute trailer! :D So just in case the trailer debuts before my next post, let me just say that it was nice chatting with you all!
Now here's hoping Fox has fixed that typo... :-\

Afraid so, but the rumblings have turned out pretty well lately.
From seeing the leaked version I already kinda have a idea of what this film may be about...and I personally think Fox and co are being very clever with how their promoting this movie...I simply cant wait! Granted, Its not going to be a movie with a Xeno or Xeno's running about, but its defiantly a solid Prequel, explaining the Space Jokey and crashed craft on LV, I could be wrong, but at this present moment thats what im thinking.

We tend to be much less strict than the Yanks here in Alberta. I find a 14A rating here is usually about an R south o' the border.

I'd agree, in so far as the US version, with the completely different soundtrack and absence of singing. The Tangerine Dream music gave it a far darker atmosphere. But the director, himself, preferred the other version, which always felt a lot lighter to me.
Both editions have their individual pros and cons.
Nerdwood is the best kind. Lol!

it's a teaser trailer, like the one from THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. the full trailer will come in february or march probably.
and some of the trailers on that list started to pop online.next weak we'll most likely see it
[citation needed]
citation?this is how trailers pop up.first teaser trailers 1-1.30 mins, then a month or 2 passes and the first long trailers is released, then another month and the second trailer pops out.after that 30 minutes tv spots ,or 1 featurettes show up online.noticed i said probably.
as for the other trailers battleship was released yesterday, the 3 stooges a couple of days ago and a few other ones,so yeah i'm expecting it next weak
The teaser trailer for TDKR showed WAY less then what was seen in the leaked trailer for Prometheus. It's likely that they're releasing the same trailer that we've already seen, which has the merits of just more than a "teaser trailer".
the tdk trailer was just a example of duration.i didn't give it for content. i was just trying to say that the trailer we will see soon will be a short one and not a full 2:30 min one.that was all
As much as was shown in the leaked Prometheus trailer, it was really like we were shown nothing of substance. Those images had no context in terms of knowing what kind of film we will be actually seeing. We saw a Jockey chair rise up, explosions, ships flying, people walking, running, screaming being held by a creature, a silver colored serpent with a human face and that's about it. We don't know anything. Do we? Or do we just think we do?

It's also why I've been warning others not to get too hyped up, because people got crazily excited after seeing the '
Requiem' advert and then utterly detested the finished product.
Also, I don't recall seeing anything which looked definitely like a 'serpent'.

You mean the gif with the guy jumping from above?! I'm pretty sure that the general consensus was that the "creature" at the bottom of the frame is another member of the human crew. Like ThisBethesdaSea said, a serpent is what he sees but I sure ain't never seen a snake resemble a man wearing a space suit so much. :-\

Keep an eye on:

Let's see how they rate the trailer - use the advanced search facility to check, I'd say it'll be up this week. I'm thinking, based on the Canadian rating, it will be a 12.
The BBFC are really liberal when it comes to ratings, but you never know - if it is a 15, then the PG-13/R debate is dead. It WILL be an R movie and a 15 at least in the UK.

What if the guy jumping is jump on the guy with the flame thrower? who has gone a bit loopy and endangering the other crew?

I would be very suprised that the "thing" jumping on the crew member is an actual creature coz from the shot it makes no doubt that you will be able to see it clearly in the HD trailer, spoiling one of the major asset very early seems unlikely.
My money is on a crew member (an artificial human maybe) gone rogue...
Thanks Engineer1, now I see it clear too, it´s that same space-suit person as in the CC leaks.
You guys think That's a guy in a suit below? Lolz. Okay. It looks to fleshy to be anything other then some kind of alien life form, but we won't know for a while.
Oh yeah, it's December 12th. NO TRAILER.

...Still no godamn trailer.
Man, this is getting old now.
Even MIB3 got a trailer release today.
It's very early in the day for Hollywood, roughly 9am or so. Give it time. Besides, we were not officially promised a trailer.

I know, it's seems pretty obvious to me but some people only see what they want to see. Hopefully when the official HD trailer arrives, it will have the same shots so that we can all agree that it's a human in a space suit and move on. Honestly, as if they'd show us a Space Jockey in a teaser trailer!
The same thing happened with Super 8, people were convinced that they could see the creature in the trailers. Guess what? You couldn't.
Nobody is really claiming it is a Space jockey in that gif tho, merely some form of non-human life form.
I have decided not to bother getting into a debate/war about it as nobody can really make any concrete statement about what it is or is not, due to knowing nothing about what it actually is , and nobody really has the right to disband anybodys opinion on what it may or may not be.
Why "LOL" at someone elses view, , and then immediatley post a pic up stating the exact same thing yourself?
Thats basically saying "That, an Alien? pfft no chance silly, now MY pic, what I think is an alien, thats more like it"
:-[
the one from mib showed up yesterday,gi joe today, who knows maybe by friday we'll have something to celebrate
At this point I'm sick of the fu€king secrecy already. Release the trailer goddamnit. If we end up seeing the trailer for The Hobbit before the official trailer for Prometheus (of which there are nearly 6 months between release dates) I'll be angry (not that it will get me anywhere).

Before jumping on the gun, just check the first post on the previous page.
I'm just copying the modus operandi of my fellow board members.
For fun. Not war.
Seems obvious to me that the images are from the same set and the same scene.
Just check the pictures i posted. But yeah we will see in the HD trailer...
As for the Engineer in front of the sandstorm.
It's not about seing what you want or imagining things.
There is a guy in a white suit, with strange proportions.
It will be very simple to see in HD that his gear is definitly not human made.
Am i declaring WAR on you saying this? No.
I'm just saying what i see.
Feel free to LOL me if i'm proved wrong ;)
Yes there's also irony in my post.
Engineer1 we've been over this with you before. It's the way you present yourself that pisses people off. Stop stating things as facts and maybe you'll get a bit more love and less skepticism.
That is not what we are talking here.
Our friend is asking me why i lol and i pointed him to your post.
Simple.
But i gather that if you lol it's because of the way i present them...
Well again what can i say, you see a creature, i see a suited human and i prove it by showing other pics from the same scene. Thats all.
Stick to your gun, me to mine.
No need for lolz.
We're cool.

So.. trailer..
I am hoping it will surface this weekend, and that someone does a proper recording of it. I am not sure whether it'll appear here in Sweden until next year (the trailer that is) or not.. but I guess it will take a few weeks longer than expected.
Now I'm just angry. There's no reason in hell for them to keep it from release. I said this in another forum, but if The Hobbit teaser releases before Prometheus does, something is really wrong. There's no need for secrecy anymore.

I've been waiting for a Ridley Scott directed film about the Space Jockeys ever since I first saw Alien in the '80s. That's a lot of waiting, 6 more months isn't going to kill me now.
^ Me too. I saw Alien when I was 7, now I'm 28. I can wait six more months.
It'd be great if Ridley himself played the Jockey.
"I've been doing it at home for about.....30 years, right?"
"So....Tony said...why don't you be Jockey....why don't you play him"
"Right so I practise walking on stilts..... and thinking like aaaaaan extra terrestrial right mate?"

Considering that was communicated through text, it's a pretty good impersonation of Ridley. Particularly the "aaaaaan".
Hahah, man I love Ridley interviews. Chomping on the cigars "So he's at the piano...aaaaaaaand he starts thinking about this UNICORN, right! Then later, our friend Gaff, the beurocrat with the orrrrrigamiiii, he leaves a UNICORN for Deckard on the floor"
"I always thought the original version was... pretty good..."
"prettay prettay prettay pretty good"
In my opinion, trailer for Prometheus is delayed because of The Hobbit and The Dark Knight Rises trailers.. These franchises are much more anticipated than the first Alien movie after 14 years. People will be divided between The Hobbit and The Dark Knight Rises. Fox wants for Prometheus full attention.. So the teaser for Prometheus can be released even later!

It was the 70's, and ratings were different. I was 8 when
Alien came out, and would have gone with my parents, but my brother and I ate all the cookies or some shit, and they made us stay home as punishment. Had to wait 'til '83 to watch it on video. :(

At that time ALIEN was certificate X in the UK (much more evocative) and I think the cinema manager who was at the kiosk certainly knew I wasn't 18 but wasn't too bothered because the issue over films being X rated was more to do with sex and language. At the end of the day, ALIEN was a hugely successful film and he probably just wanted to fill his cinema. Partly to do with individual local councils being quite discretionary in what they chose to show and how strict they were because the BBFC wasn't as organised then. Clearly the manager didn't think he was taking much of a risk letting me in.
Mind you, a few weeks later I went to see 'The Other Cinderella' so perhaps he really did think I was 18!
I was 9 when Alien came out. The week Alien was released or the week after, I went to the cinemas with my mum probably to see a sci fi film, and when we got to the cinema I could see life size standees of the Nostromo crew and a 7-8 ft standee of the Alien :D I stood right next to that thing, thought it was awesome and asked my mum if I could see the film, and of course she said No! The first time I actually saw Alien was in 1982 when ITV had the first showing of the film on tv in the UK. My bet is and has been Wednesday for a few days. That seems to be their embargo date. I mean, magazine pics on the 7th, teaser poster on the 14th so trailer on the 21th. Makes sense PR wise.
Also there's this guy (http://twitter.com/#!/Bobigol) from what I think is Fox Sweden, he's saying on twitter that they recently received two Prometheus trailers. One of them being two minutes long and for cinemas only.
Do those days work out because they're odd days (as opposed to an even number?) ?? ;P ;)
I still just don't understand the wait, there's no reason now, none at all. I can't wait to come back here and review the trailer still by still and get all excited all over again! ;)

Lol, no. Those dates are all Wednesdays. As I said everything that has been officially released recently was done in a Wednesday. It may be just a coincidence but I know that with other companies I've been in touch with they usually choose an specific day of the week for a particular project and often stick to that. Maybe something to do with marketing and demographics. Who knows. Just a wild guess anyway.
What is this Apple talk anyway? Perhaps it will be premier in itunes first?
http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/ (http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/)
Wednesday is likely, my bet is that Fox is going to have the trailer attach with the Darkest Hour and We Bought a Zoo. Both of those movies come out later this week and are released by 20th Century Fox.
I think we are some 2 days from official HD trailer now.
