Too bad the general has a very small apparition, Olmos rules. :-\
What a waste.
Playing a general of sorts... maybe?
LOVE the cast in this. ;D
Absolutely f**king great news. I love Edward James Olmos! This cast is just looking incredible and completely unexpected.
He will play a general named Woodhurst
How do I reach these keeds?
THis is great! Man i can't wait for a trailer
Yeah! For a moment when i read the article i thought he was returning for Blade Runner lol
sold
the rest of the movie can suck, this is too great
now that is a good actor for the movie, of course he is playing some kind of military character, probably on the hunt for a Predator or his technology
It's a good thing

Me neither. But judging by all the praise, I guess it's a good thing he's in it.
I looked up his filmography and it turns out I've watched some of the things he was in. I saw Blade Runner, The Road To El Dorado and the tv series Dexter. It's been years since I watched those so I don't remember him. I don't pay attention to the credits. ;D
the dude must be pushing 80 by now.
A lot of up and coming actors, and at least one veteran to ground the cast. Like Alec Guinness in Star Wars. Good choice.
So is he going to make an origami skull and spinal column? ;)

I think we can all agree that Thomas Jane is a veteran actor/known commodity at this point as well.
This is excellent. Big fan of his. Loved him as Lt. Castillo in Miami Vice, and also thought he was brilliant as Adama in the new Battlestar Galactica.
Very happy to see him joining the film!

Jake has been about for some time now and in a few big movies. Perhaps he could be considered a veteran

QuoteIn a recent interview with TheTrendTalk, actor Edward James Olmos revealed that he's to return as Gaff in Denis Villeneuve's belated sequel, Blade Runner 2049. Although the Blade Runner and Battlestar Galactica star was sworn to secrecy by the movie's producers until now, it seems he's finally allowed to talk about his role in the film - well, a little bit, at least.
"This is the first time that I'm telling the world that, yes, I am going to be Gaff in Blade Runner 2049," Olmos said, before talking briefly about what his appearance might entail.
He will send two veteran detectives to tail the Predator -- one in a black Ferrari Daytona and one in a blue Coupe de Ville.
It has been reported through feedback from the screening but
Spoiler
I'll leave it in spoilers until admin decides otherwise.
QuoteEdward James Olmos was cast in The Predator in March of 2017, however, as the September release date nears, the Battlestar Galactica star told /Film during the publicity rounds for his new FX show Mayans M.C. that he's been cut out of the movie entirely. The good news is that Olmos doesn't have any hard feelings about it, and cutting his character may turn out better for the movie.
The news of Edward James Olmos cut from The Predator came straight from the man himself. Olmos was said to play a military character, but the actor clarified that he would have played a four-star general, but ultimately his scenes weren't relevant to the story. "I'm not in the show though," Olmos said, "It was too long so my character, they had to take me out. They were like half an hour, 3/4 of an hour too long. So I understand why."
Director Shane Black surely had to make some tough calls. Thankfully, Olmos understood, "It was gracious of them to call me and tell me, 'Hey, we really feel bad,' you know?"

Well f**k me. I just made a post saying I'd hoped he was in it Because I'm loving the character in the novel. Maybe we'll get him in the directors cut
:( :-\ :'(
I don't think there's going to be a DC for this film, just a suspicion.
In hoping you're wrong. In the chance you're correct at least put the cut scenes as a bonus feature
So that's how the alliance predators get delete because the general was connection.
Completely removing an actor's entire role from a movie you specifically hired them for is, to put it lightly, kind of a dick move.
But hey, it always happens.

how is that a dick move? They didn't do all this just to cut him on purpose, and also I am sure they paid him. So I don't see where is the Dick move. In editing room when they see all scenes together and they begin polishing the movie they do find some scenes dragging too much, or they being asked to trim off the material to get in time limitations. So I still don't get where you ee a dick move :(

True. Even still, its Edward James Olmos! can't he be escorting some trick-or-treaters? Anything! such a waste
I love EJO... But, hey, if his scenes were part of stuff that didn't work, that's sad, but better for the movie.
Cutting him out is total horsedick.
Everybody say neiighh, neiiiighhh....
To cut him out they had to remove 45 minutes of film.... damn. That means they must have changed something very integral to the plot to be unable to save any footage of his character.
That's not what he said at all. They needed to remove 30-45 and he was part of that, not that they went through all that effort for him.
Oh, ok. But he did say that and it sounded like first person. :P
Is like they purposely are doing everything in their power to make this movie as bad as possible, so many reshoots and changes, if the movie is even decent i will very surprised.

The reshoots have only eliminated negative aspects of the movie. While many still remain, it's more along the lines of working it's way up to "decent" now. And it might even make it there. But without all of those changes, I don't think it was going anywhere but down.
I've been the biggest naysayer about this movie since the leaked pics of the friendlies. It goes against everything I know and love about this franchise. However! Edward James Olmos is a great actor and while reading hunters and hunted I'm seriously butt hurt his character isn't making it into the final cut. My perspective on the garbage script has been rotated 180 by the prequel novel. Pappy Elliott alone would be a great film the way Mr Moore wrote this book. My faith is completely restored from being the number 1 troll to I'm actually respecting Shanes decisions and bravado. Can't f**king wait for 9/14
At the very least he isn't making a film about Dutch Schaefer's grandson going up against the Predator.
Lineages are the height of the worst.

Per current trends, I think it would be more along the lines of Dutch's grand-daughter. Lydia Schaefer.
By cutting all that material, one could say that Fox...

Makes no difference to me, the concept of either is chilling.
Poor Edward James Olmos made it into a Predator movie.
That is actually a big loss. Loved his cameo in Blade Runner 2049.
Boyd Holbrook and Olmos both played in Narcos but their characters didn't meet though.

My faith will only be restored when they leave that stupid shit with the kid on the cutting room floor. I'm sure he's going to be as annoying as that tag along Suzie in the Lost World was. So many other things could have been done without having to write in some annoying kid who gets bullied. Bunch of PC garbage being pandered here with that.

Oh come on guys. At this point in time the movie looks to have potential. The predators look great, the supporting cast looks great together and there will be blood! I mean shit compare that to what we're seeing in the Terminator franchise and I swear Predator fans scored huge with the upgrade predator!
Yeah. When I read the script and my minds eye drew that thing.... Noooo.. Nooo... Bad bad bad news... The Upgrade came out pretty much the best it possibly could have.

But they took the silly movie with pussy jokes and a space rasta man and did silly things with it!
Predator is not a silly movie.
It has levity and humor, but it is not silly.
It's a Pop corn movie for sure, but it was made very well by the smart director.
talking about original Predator)
I disagree with the kid as well but unfortunately for some reason his autism is the plot device that Shane chose to go with. Pretty lazy writing imo but I can overlook that as long as it doesn't focus heavily on developing that in comparison to focusing heavily on the predators and action. I'm really psyched to see sterling k browns performance. He was very well written in hunters and hunted. Reminds me of Gorman from aliens. Sneaky deceptive Bastard you can't wait to see die

I think to call Shane BLack on lazy writing is a little bit off :) I mean he is one of the most interesting screen writers, and he knows what he is doing(talking about the writing part). Now is he good for Predator franchise or is his writing style fits the Predator frachise is another question, I guess it's very taste depending. What I come to think, that this movie going to be interesting and probably a good "MOVIE"(for sure better AVP, AVPR and probably better then Predators), not sure about it being a good "Predator" movie. Now what I got from the theme of this movie is that the imperfect part of human race with dissabilities and such got a chance to prove themselves and save the earth, so in this case having an autistic kid does have a sense.
It's the same as the rest of the cast, what happens when people who are typically considered- imperfect, flawed, shunned go up against the perfect Predator, one superior to our own ecosystem? Is there something in those "broken" individuals that the apex Predator can't anticipate?
The idea has a lot of potential, Shane Black is an excellent; top-tier writer so, I'm not willing to write this off until I see it.

Well I hope all his deleted scenes are on the DVD/Blu ray
Bit late to commenting on this news, but this sucks. From Gaff to Lt. Castillo to Admiral Adama, I'm a big fan of EJO and was really looking forward to seeing him in the movie.
As Whiskey says, I hope we at least get to see his deleted stuff on the home video release.
