BUILDING BETTER WORLDS

So Ridley is connecting this to Cameron's Expanded Universe?

THIS IS AWESOME!

Well I guess that answers the question regarding Prometheus being compatible with the canon of the AVP films, though it's curious why they used "Weyland Industries" for the website address.

if peter weyland is the founder of weyland industries that means avp is completely dismissed as canon.

Right that's what I mean, this essentially dismisses the AVP canon, just is odd that they'd use "Weyland Industries" for the website address.  Also, in Peter Weyland's bio it leaves it vague by saying that his father was a "self taught software engineer," perhaps one could come to the conclusion that Charles B. Weyland was married to a British woman, but that would be quite a stretch. AVP's canon is essentially in contradiction with this as most here suspected it would be.

1+

I never really even thought about the fact that 'Building Better Worlds' was from Cameron's pen. Awesome.

Then how is Peter Weyland alive in both 2023 and in Prometheus?  Maybe they already invented cryotubes by then?  On a side note, it looks like Prometheus isn't ignoring the AVP films after all if Ridley is still using the title "Weyland Industries." :)

QuoteSir Peter Weyland was born in Mumbai, India at the turn of the Millennium. The progeny of two brilliant parents; His mother, an Oxford Educated Professor of Comparative Mythology, his father, a self-taught software Engineer, it was clear from an early age that Sir Peter's capabilities would only be eclipsed by his ambition to realize them. By the age of fourteen, he had already registered a dozen patents in a wide range of fields from biotech to robotics, but it would be his dynamic break-throughs in generating synthetic atmosphere above the polar ice cap that gained him worldwide recognition and spawned an empire.

In less than a decade, Weyland Corporation became a worldwide leader in emerging technologies and launched the first privatized industrial mission to leave the planet Earth. "There are other worlds than this one," Sir Peter boldly declared, "And if there is no air to breathe, we will simply have to make it."

Mmm, that retcon tastes delicious.
Mm!! PLEASE RIDLEY, CAN I HAVE SOME MORE!?

When did they claim that Peter is the founder of Weyland Industries? ???

but if peter weyland is the founder of weyland industries that means avp is history, and not part of canon.

edit:

his father is a software engineer like the site says. charles bishop weyland isn't a software engineer.

Read the description. It says in honor of their 50th anniversary they're showing his 2023 speech. Making the year in the film 2073.

Or he borrowed the only good thing from the AvP films and made it his own....I personally hope those are the only 2 links to anything outside of "Alien".

He may be using only the name, but the existence of Peter Weyland, plus his biography contradicts Anderson's Charles Weyland. And after watching that video, Anderson could f**k off.

Actually, the bio says that Peter only spawned an empire; this may not necessarily mean Weyland Industries.
