I am so excited! We're seeing the netgun for the first time in the trailer! And what looks like an AA-12! Cannot wait for the end of March to roll around to play this Trial!

And you can free your mate from the net!!!

I saw blood when the netgun first hits him. I wonder if there is a timer where the net cranks and your teammate dies, or if you're just temporaily or forever immobilized by the net until freed.

Also I'm curious what the Partial Nudity is about. Skinned gluteus maximus perhaps?

P2 style netgun too, but silver rather than copper. No AvP wrist mounted version.

AvP2 used to just be trapped, with no actual damage. But I'd like to actually see it slowly damage over time.

Yes! Haven't had fun with the netgun since avp2! Wish those of us that downloaded the deluxe edition got a full week of play

Just look at that animation when he is hit with the netgun... so bad.
Might check it out later when it's been out for a while

A weekend seems a little too short to properly test the game, and it makes me worried the devs don't have faith in it being a success.

Hopefully there's an open beta sometime towards the end of March - early April.

We saw a "parry" prompt in an earlier trailer when a human player was being attacked, so I guess it makes sense there'd be some way to defend against a Predator just jumping right in your face and slashing away, so long as you're able to hit the timing (assuming that's how it's going to work).

Also, yes! New footage! Beta (essentially)! Netgun!

To be honest I wasn't really expecting a beta or trial or anything since I figured it would have been announced before now, so that's great news that we'll be playing the game in a month's time instead of two! And the netgun is a weapon I definitely wasn't holding out any hope for. I figured it might have just been too difficult to implement in the type of environments they're going for, but I'm very pleased to see its inclusion! I'm really glad they've got all the main P2 weapons in there, I definitely regard all of those as classics that deserve inclusion in any and all Predator games.

Animating that would be a hassle.
It either rag-dolls which creates awkward posing when hit or it cuts to what the net gun should ultimately do. Otherwise you're creating several different animations for the net capturing someone and that's time consuming because you have to account for a number of different surfaces to get stuck on and the posing.

I would prefer it had animations and the body conforming to the surfaces but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for the sake of game-play since this game doesn't have too high a budget nor the entry price.

Hmm.... A close combat kill has to be more points for the Predator than ranged right?  And they say the smart disc can get caught in a tree. I wonder if soldiers can recover it.

Customization of the weapon appearance would be sweet! But I wonder if that's too much to include, especially with the quick turnaround on this one. Perhaps something for a future update?

I suspect the Trial version is not going to be the completed copy. I mean obviously but....,
(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ERyd1vOXkAA0Xpj?format=jpg&name=large)
Hicks posted a twitter post (I presume from the event) that had the screen read "Pre-Alpha". So assuming this is what's been shown off to the public and the trial version is what's been shown at events so far I assume this isn't some sort of Beta. Which is both good and bad news because it shows some ballsy confidence that the Alpha is good enough it can be the trial version (and from what has been said so far it seems to be the case). But should something go wrong, well they put out a Pre-Alpha build into the wild and your average player might not realize this.

Now the most recent video doesn't state if it is the finished version or not but the article insinuates it's this Alpha version. That might explain the netgun animation but lets not get our hopes up.

Yeah I would have preferred the spear gun over the bow to be honest (which just seems a bit too "human" and cumbersome to me), but since it looks like that'll be a weapon that shoots similar projectiles and can also pin enemies to walls they might have considered including both redundant.

Would love to be proven wrong though! The spear gun was one of the most fun weapons in the old AVP's.

Honestly, I quite like the bow. You're completely right in how they're both functionally the same, so it's one or the other. But I've been wanting to see a Predator bow for some time and I've gotta say I like the addition.

An ammo type that turns the speargun into a shotgun. AvP 1999 had something like that, albeit it was a cheat. I like the idea of giving the player more options with the weaponry we are given.

The Predators have more than a few weapons that could be considered "too human". The spears, glaive, whip, smart disk too. Their smart disc is basically a returning chakram.

I'd imagine a scattergun would be more useful against a pack of Xenos. Broken Tusk used what was more like a hand held plasma caster with a shotgun-like mechanism.

Most of the time they have some sort of twist though that makes them feel not feel identical to human weapons, especially the smart disc. For me the bow just looks too much like "a bow."

Dutch used a handmade bow and It just seems like something only Humans would use. Seeing a Predator with a bow is just strange. Especially with no lore explanation.

In the case of the bow I think it's fine because it does retain the theme and bows already are kind of messed up hunting instruments. A cursory glance into it has the bow cause heart and lung damage which makes sense for the character as it wouldn't want to damage the head.

I guess maybe the weapon is a bit to normalized and explored but I wouldn't call it out of character for one to possess.

I think a bow is a pretty basic and fundamental hunting weapon. As much so as simply a spear. It's been something I've wanted to see done in a Predator aesthetic for so long and I think it works.

As Gr33n says, I believe the burners are more like handheld shoulder cannons than a shotgun.

The knifes and spears the Predator use are unique though, both in appearance and functionality. It's my opinion that the speargun, having already been in the games and in film would've been the better choice.

If the predators never figured out a bow, I would be pretty disappointed. A bow perfectly fits their bipedal form.

Assuming there are bipedal creatures capable of creating tools on other worlds in our reality, it's extremely likely they'll figure out or have figured out a bow. One could be bow hunting dinner right now.

You know I keep hearing about this mythos lore about the jungle being the hottest it has ever been in decades or something....yet I see no shimmer effect. We have shimmer in other games like RDR2..... just sayin I was kind of expecting shimmer.

Nice! Good to have an idea of how much stuff we'll have access to in the trial.

It actually looks like there'll be a lot more content than I figured. Three of the four fire team classes with unlockables and more Predator weapons than I was expecting, too. Gonna be fun getting to grips with both the smart disc and combistick. I wasn't sure whether either of those would be included, so that's pretty great.

I like that each fire team class has different passive abilities, that really makes them feel like actual classes rather than just different skins with different weapons. Was it the recon class that we read a while ago would be able to "tag" the Predator so that everyone could see him? Either way I guess we'll have to wait for the full game to give that one a go.

Cool to get confirmation that the missions are chosen randomly each time you play rather than being map-specific, too. If they were always the same for every map it wouldn't take too long for things to get samey and predictable for the Predator, so this is definitely the better approach to take.

Nice to see the "mudding up" has an actual animation to it, too! These videos have definitely rekindled some of the hype that's been dampened thanks to everything else that's been going on in the world right now.

The answer to your question is: very hard.

And yes, they have other opponents i.e. enemy faction to both player sides but their AI is not very sophisticated. And to make one resembling a human player as intended is not easy.

Even with my basic knowledge of game-development, it is very difficult. Creating a videogame is a difficult process and especially so when you have I.P holders who have to approve of what you're doing. 90 hours I believe is referring to a game on par with RDR2 and that's just not happening here and never was. Games like that also require a Hell of a lot of work and are extremely expensive to make. I highly recommend trying out Cry-engine or any other openly available software to develop off of because you find out real quick that game-development is a hard job.
Ilfonic is also a much smaller team that despite the backing from Sony just doesn't have the resources to do it. Ilfonic had attained the rights to do it and developed it during the transition from Fox to Disney which makes approvals even harder to get done as attention is focused elsewhere. Be thankful it even came out unlike Alien which couldn't catch a break. 90 hours is also extremely excessive for a Predator title and in-general.

After launch I'd expect something like a challenge mode being single-player but the main event is hunting other people and they've been more than open about this. Support the game to get it in the future because if not nobody's going to get single-player as despite recent references only one other developer (and rumored as far as I can tell) was interested in the I.P. Support what you have and could get, not a pipe-dream that was never going to happen a month before launch.

One thing I hope they don't do (just a thing that crossed my mind) is add silly attire for the soldiers like they did in Division 2

Keeping it real and keeping it serious i think brings alot to the atmosphere. So long as customization isn't cheap like Injustice 2 where you just swap one pallette for something else --at least the one half of  costume customization was like that  for that game.

Hawkins' original red beret as an unlockable cosmetic would be a nice nod.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention; stealth kills! Yuss!!

Chances are they'll only really be practical on the AI enemies rather than the humans, but either way that's another really cool feature that I'm glad is in there. I really liked the stealth kills and executions in AVP2010, so it's great to see something akin to those will be in this too.

Hopefully you can have customised kills for those like with Jason in Friday the 13th, since it still seems unclear whether or not you'll be able to do those sort of kills on human players.

Arkham Asylum has in excess of 300+ developer credits with 40-60 of which are Rocksteady employees over 2 years and then some.

The dreads look like they're clipping or have some odd physics to them. It should be expected and to be honest I kind of encourage it so it'll be more natural looking when the Predator moves outside of them clipping.

It may be because I just got done with some 501st stuff so I got armor on the brain but that back plate looks gorgeous. I especially like the little vent details on the backpack. Also the Predator has some thorny bone things coming out of the elbows. I love these little details on them. Even the odd wire from the backpack to the back-plate is just so much more than what I'd have expected. Even if the game doesn't turn out I want a figure or two of these guys the art team has done a great job.

One detail I noticed and was pretty cool is that your SHoulder Cannon shakes the camera the longer you take to fire. Plus there seems to be a  moving in zoom when you do activate it to aim which brings the action closer into view. Also very cool touch.

I'm still not down with the Disc throwing and camera that follows....when it strikes someone they should have at least  backed out with the camera and show a slow motion death effect.

Hot damn molasar!  Nice find!  So much awesomeness to behold!

The Predator feasting on a Boar!!
The Mini gun tearing up the leaves and branches of the trees!
Are those Predator mines??
The Female Predator in the second half!
Hot damn the Smart Disc is the best!!! Eat it Paul W.S. Anderson!

It also seems you can escape from the Netgun on your own. And how freaking cool was that where the stationary cloaked Predator was so close to the team but still not detected!

It all looks so damn fun!

This devs got money only for making an MP mode thanks to Sony. Otherwise the game wouldn't happen at all. So who is lazy then?

So many great little details there! Mines confirmed! Being able to eat boar to regain health! That isolation pulse! Billy's knife! Voice taunts for the Predator! "Long claim" executions confirmed! So many movie-accurate sound effects! OWLF files! And you can unlock a red beret after all!

Part of me didn't want to watch it since we're so close to actually being able to play it at long last, but I'm definitely glad I did!

Just 24 more hours to go!

A pre-load of the trial demo is available now on PC. Its size is 17.7GB

I have it installed now.

There is an offline tutorial in it.

Also it seems that you can start playing without other players just to mess around.

Also, I wonder if the trial is cross-play.

Random thoughts.

It already met my expectations. Especially gameplay wise. This arcade type one.

Yes, it is cross-play but can be manually disabled. Also you can create private matches. Choose a side you want to play as.

There are two maps. The same one from the pre-alpha demo called Overgrowth and another one Derailed.

And there is a communication wheel, so mics are unnecessary. A phrase 'get to da choppa' is there too.

I like distorted voices when you use a pred's vision mode.

Anyway it plays good and has that specific Predator movie feeling.

BTW, My Epic nickname is ScarfacePredator

Nice.

Yeah the graphics are good/great enough to ultimately have its legacy decided solely on the gameplay, and so far it looks great.

Sony slowed down download speeds to keep MP services online because there is higher usage caused by the virus thingy.

It´s f**king good. It has some matchmaking problems and stuff but that´s to be expected. They really nailed customization and gameplay flow. If it´s a longterm title is to be seen.

You need to press AND HOLD left mouse to stealth kill. Yeah this demo is a bit iffy and they didn´t explain everything but you shouldn´t quit right away. It´s really a fun game tbh
