In gold spirit he is happy to not be involved.
I hope some of you feel relieved now :)

No.
Predator 4
Director: Robert Rodriguez
Rotten Tomatoes: 87%
Imdb: 7.9
Its ok though, I mean I would of loved to see a Noland Prequel which was the next intent for the sequence. But I'm ok with a new director taking the helm. I'm always up too different directors take on a franchise with a cool pro folio background on there credit. Which Shane Black has, which Nimrod Antal had, John Mc, and Stephen Hopkins. I'm up for this film. I wanna say though try doing suspense in a different way this time instead of laying off the creatures for 40 min again. it worked for Predators because Predators was a cool sort of reboot?sequel for this generation and it worked great with the scary planet setting.
I am SO F*CKING GLAD.
Could not have had better news this day.
I absolutely abhor Predators.
I kinda wish though that Nimrod Antal was involved with the new movie some how since he hasn't had any work since Predators and he just did a Metallica short film, but thats nothing really. He also has expressed loving to do another one again since he had fun doing Predators, and he made a badass film. Predators is essescially Predator 3 Nimrod said so in a Collider interview same one above. Anyways I think a Noland prequel would of been badass. Like amazing... But I'm always open to new stories and I love this franchise and I'm so grateful to be seeing it again. Films these days take too long to come out thats why you got to appreciate what you get good or bad film. I loved Predators though, I think I watched it more times than Predator 1, thats saying something.
Rodriguez not being involved is perhaps the main reason why I am being so cautiously optimistic about this. :)
Since he started doing kids' films, Rodriguez hasn't been the same :(

The only movie of Rodriguez's which I actually enjoyed was the Faculty.
Ah, From Dusk Till Dawn and Desperado are two of my all-time favourites.
In fairness Sin City was also pretty awesome.
Not unexpected. When a direct sequel to Predators didn't happen right away I figured we wouldn't be getting one.
Can't say I'm bothered either way. I liked what Predators was going for (even though it was pretty lacking in some areas), but am also interested in seeing the series change hands. Just hoping for something fun.
Had RR & Nimrod got on the project as soon as they finished Predators, there would of been a sequel at least one before the chairman of Fox quit because I recall RR saying Fox said lets do some other ones what other ideas do you have. in other words Fox confirmed a sequel 3 years ago but Robert and Nimrod never got on it. He claims he did in 2011 but I don't know.
All I can say is.. I hope this is not set on the Predator Homeworld. Just seeing Predators getting killed on their home turf doesn't sit very well with me, and I hope that's not the direction we're going in. Thing is.. we almost had that with PREDATORS.
I always liked the idea of maybe 3 o 4 stories a la Creepshow the movie or Twilight Zone the movie- taking place in different time periods/locales
That's too experimental for a film like this. Besides, given the nature of the beast it would just be bite sized, cliff notes versions of full Predator stories.

Predators in time! (Instead of Turtles in time!) They have to make a beat 'em up video game based on that :D You could choose between:
- Cowboy Predator
- Viking Predator
- Ninja Predator
- Futuristic Predator
Yautjabunga!!
So this means no Super Black Outcast Predators?

I agree.. I vehemently agree with this.
Personally, I don't see the appeal in the Super Predators.
I knew he won't be back given that he seems to be busy with other projects. It took them almost 10 years for Sin City 2 to happen and he still wants to do Machete 3, the last time I checked. Fox seems to move this movie forward fast, I guess we will get a director (hoping Shane Black will) soon and they might casting soon as well. It would be cool to have both Prometheus and Predator 4 in 2016.

I would think that Black is already attached to direct. Everything out there seems to suggest that he is the chosen director already but things are too early to call and rightly so. Maybe we'll hear something at SDCC.. Keep an eye out.
i do think the 'super predator' was a f**king stupid idea.
I feel almost guaranteed that the Super Predators will return regardless of Director...
i feel you are wrong. this would more likely have a hunting clan like at the end of predator 2. i think shane has his own ideas, none of which will involve super predator . it depends but this movie could end up better the anything we've seen. it could also elevate shanes status as a film maker if he succeeds. this is a huge jolt of life to the franchise . i didn't realise new management at fox was responsible for this happening i bet they throw much more money at this then predators.

People are obsessed with money. The first
Predator was a pretty low-budget film. They spent well over twice as much making
Predators, and it certainly wasn't twice as good of a film. The budget isn't that important if it's done right.

i think in this case it can help. it depends on the script. the scale and size of locations, what kind of money the actors get paid. if they can hire the right people and make a film better then avp, avpr and predators with 40million then great.... im just saying id rather they hire the right people and give them all the time and money needed.
i dont hate im disagreeing with him. what a tremendous exaggeration of a post. ::)

But money in no way equals a great movie. Many of the greatest movies have been made on limited budgets, purely because it forces people to be more creative with what they have.
Give a production unlimited cash and you get the latest Transformers movie.
im not disagreeing with you . im saying in these cir cumstances it needs more then 40million . i understand what you are saying, you dont need too repeat yourself soo much. avp. avr and predators look and feel cheap. maybe money could fix that?

AVP cost $60 million to make, and it still looked kinda rubbish. If they can make
Predator look as good as it did with just $15 million, they do
not need a heap of cash this time. They just need to put in the effort.

How could something be exaggerated when it has no substance to begin with...
15million us dollars in 1986 was a ton of money. the value of american currency has been greatly damaged over the last decade and most everything in america has become much more expensive since the 80s. you haven't changed my mind but time will tell . also 15million us dollars in mexico in 1986 was like billions of pesos .

I liked RR Predators film. Shame we won't get a sequel.
Predators doesn't look cheap at all, it's actually a beautiful looking film on DVD and especially Bluray the budget was same as Avpr and that film looks cheaper than cheap but considering Predators was made in less than year is fascinating. Robert is smart when it comes to those things.
PRI Hudson same here I didn't like it I loved it. It's so awsome from the trailers to the tv spots to the actual film itself. Sometimes I think it's my fav Pred film sinse I watched it more times than P1 and P2 combined although I do love those films as we'll. But I can talk about Predators all day it's truly one badass film.

i ment parts of predators looks cheap. the overhead shot of the chained up predator roaring looks very fake. the predators faces in predators didn't look right in the mouth area. it has some beautiful shots and looks fine in parts and in other places it feels independent cheap borderline made for tv direct to dvd feel imo.all those films have moments of goodness.. even if only for a frame or two

It was below the average.

It doesn't work like that. Everything - labour, materials, equipment, transport, etc costs a lot more now. You couldn't make Predator for $15m these days. That's why Pauly went to Prague to make AvP, and made it look like a lot more than it cost.
Given Black's newfound clout, I'd be very surprised if this cost anything under $80m.
i hope he gets whatever he needs to make this a great movie. im done having this conversation for ever more. 15million us dollars in the 1980s is a ton of loot.
that movie looks very cheap avp is soooooo cheap looking with the exception of some cgi and props and such booooooooooooooo

I know. I meant that RR won't be doing a sequel to what he made. I really thought RR did a solid job with Predators. Sure, it had some issues, but I liked it overall. I liked the "wolf vs. dog" predator rivalry.

Average movie budget around that time was about $18m. Not a ton for a science-fiction-action-effects movie.

I'm sure on some level that sentence makes sense. Not sure which level though.

AvP was hardly cheap looking. I thought the special effects looked pretty good.
In terms of design the first AVP does look top, in that regard. I think some of the color grading takes out a bit of the life in the sets, though. If anything makes AVP look cheap, it's the way it's edited and shot. The slow-motion, and motion changing nonsense just reeks of amateurishness. This gets really bad during and after the first AVP slug-fest. Some of the shots just... No. If they had been filmed more classically, I think it would have looked a lot better.
