So Weyland is collecting something that has been named by scientists in this fictional future as Eitr, referencing a mythological poison that is produced by a serpent and is the very first spark of life. This ties into so many of the themes that have been showing up in this film. Serpents, poisons/acids, creation myths, Loki/Prometheus.

The question is how did they get it if the Prometheus Project has not yet launched? The page mentions that Weyland has received message from deep space, so maybe these messages contain instructions on how to formulate it?

Yeah, I noticed the 'Cosmic Call 2' detail as well, although I have no idea of the implications...
It was transmitted to different five Sun-like stars during the same one day (no Z2R was here, though!). Probably some of those stars will play a vital role in the film, that's what I'm guessing, but I'm not sure  :)

Nice find, 180924609 and Cavalorn!

Thx and I second the praise.  :)

Those stars are approx 40-70 lightyears from Earth so I guess they (and their potential systems) are all candidates.

Regarding Eitr - could it be the vital element needed to produce functioning androids? I mean, the mythic substance is also refeered to as 'creating life' or something like it? The white substance that flows in their veins wink wink..?  ;)

Love the connections to Norse mythology. Now why didn't I pay more attention in school...?! I live in Scandinavia for Christs sake...  :D

Carmot = Philosopher's stone -> ...It was also sometimes believed to be an elixir of life, useful for rejuvenation and possibly for achieving immortality.

There are way to many small references for this to be coincidences...

Jeeez it's late - gotta go to bed. Goodnight people!  :)

In Norse mythology, the god Loki was bound to a rock. Above him is a large serpent which drips toxic venom upon him. His wife collects the poison in a bowl, but must empty it every time it gets full. As she is in the process of doing this, the snake proceeds to cover Loki in poison. Just as Prometheus gets his liver eaten only to have it grow back again, Loki is temporarily saved from venom only to have it drip on him once more.

This all just made me think of the first trailer (not the International one), we see Holloway looking at a bowl.

Is the the pyramid shot based on Gigers Dune concept art, or the other silo painting? Can someone post comparisons?

http://www.meridian.net.au/Art/Artists/HRGiger/Gallery/Images/giger-dune-ii-medium.jpg It looks like this but backwards, without the face and arms.

I think it's reminiscent in outline shape. But nothing more.

To say that the complex looks giger-esque... well... I really don't think so. There is nothing bio-mech and illogical about it and that is after all his style. It simply looks like rock that has been crafted and eroded, with some interesting patterns here and there.

I think that Ridley is clearly giving H.R. Giger the attention that he should have got with Alien. :)

Because of course he didn't get any attention with exposure to a worldwide audience in a smash hit film and an Oscar to boot.
