Right, but we aren't talking about zombies or Resident Evil.

I think the 28 series Infected full fills several zombie tropes.

I was making a point that zombies can be more than just being a reanimated corpse

Considering the fact that the Resident Evil "zombies" act and look exactly like a typical zombie, while the 28 days, weeks and years later infected are just humans that have gone feral because of rage, it's pretty clear which ones are supposed to be zombies and which ones aren't.

Sure, but the new movie takes that and twists those tropes to be something different. This movie doesn't follow the rule book, meaning the series isn't tied to the tropes.

Well given the "Infected" and the "Zombie" both hunt non-infected. Can turn non-infected into more Infected/Zombies. Both are created by a virus. Both have memories of being humans. I am not seeing a whole lot of differences here.

That's the bare minimum of similarities, also of course they infect people it's a virus.

28 Weeks Later proves this isn't the case. And it's not exactly the case in the new movie either.

I mean, you can talk zombies all you want with the comparison of different stories and how they handle the idea of infection, but we are here in this thread to talk about 28 Years Later. Maybe break off to a new thread and make one about zombies in general if you want to have that conversation?

Yeah I will go do that and head back to the Biohazard/Resident Evil thread.

That movie was pretty good. Some experimental shots/cuts felt a bit weird, but most were pretty nice and refreshing. In general I loved the cinematography, especially the red tinted shots felt very threatening/demonic. Those running naked infected gave a "Attack on Titans" vibe as well. The scenes with Fiennes were great, same goes for the child actor and change in tone for the ending...so over the top, I immediately wanted to watch the next part.

Just wanted to check:

Spoiler
The baby doesn't die, right?

After having kids that's a line I'm still struggling with. Not a deal breaker, just something I'd rather be ready for.

Haven't seen it yet, but every spoiler I've seen implies it's handed off rather than meeting a bad end.

Days was pitched as a more believable take on the zombie genre, which was its strength. Weeks gave us asymptomatic carriers, which retained a good dose of plausibility. Years stretches the bounds of evolution too far for me, and pitches the franchise back into fantasy territory, which is a bit of a shame.
