Sorry if this has been raised before in another thread.

All things considered, what would have been the impact on the stories of Prometheus, Covenant, Romulus and the upcoming Earth if these stories had all been set after Alien 3.

We could list out story elements that would have to change. But my feeling all  would  work just fine with minor tweaks to the scripts.

e.g. Peter Weyland in Prometheus could have been in stasis even longer, managing the company through his dreams for a century.

You could still have had the retro feel in Romulus by stumbling across an old derelict which is what happened anyway.

I've always felt Prometheus would have worked better as an Alien 3 sequel. I appreciate the original intent might have been different, but given how things currently stand there's absolutely no need for it to be a prequel at all.

As for Romulus, I think the whole story was built around Alvarez wanting to use the retro look of the first film and nothing else.

Prometheus and Covenant would still have sucked.

Quote from: Local Trouble on Mar 03, 2019, 02:22:15 AMHell, even if the story was relatively unchanged it could have still worked.  Peter Weyland needn't have been the founder of the company, but rather a descendant of the founder who sought immortality.

No more conflict with AvP either.

We needed the AvP conflict though; erasing AvP from Alien canon was worth it alone 🤣

But then the PredAlien wouldn't be canon.

I'm not against the idea of AVP, I just didn't like PWSA's AVP. Removing his AVP would be fine. Removing all of AVP, I would be sad since Alien and Predator go good together like chocolate and peanutbutter or peanutbutter and jelly or cereal and milk.

Alvarez decided to make Remus an old station to justify the Alien-era tech. So it would have made no difference to the story. It's just an even older station that's been out of use for a few decades.

Even that wasn't really well transcribed in the movie.

Remus wasn't out of use for a few decades. It's where they brought the alien cocoon on board and where they had been printing 3D facehuggers.

True. But it's conceivable there could be an old station that's still being used a full 60 years later. The facility on Fury 161 looked even older than that.
