Okay I have been thinking of this for years and have developed my own headcanon on the many different variants of xenomorphs. I'm referring to the species rather than the different xenomorphs caste whom despite looking different are all technically part of the same species.

Baseline/True/Mainstream/Vanilla Xenomorphs (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3)

Praetomorphs aka David's Xenomorphs/Planet 4 Xenomorph (Alien Covenant)

Protomorphs/Deacon (Prometheus)

Auriga/Clone-Hybrids Xenomorphs (Alien Resurrection)

Romulus-Remus Xenomorphs (Alien Romulus)

Predator-Bred Xenomorphs (Alien vs Predator, Alien vs Predator Requiem)

Neomorphs (Alien Covenant)

Okay we have the Mural Xenomorph, too me it kind of resembles the deacon. Whether the engineers were trying to recreate this creature is unknown.

The Deacon also known as the Protomorph is probably the first deviation of the Mural Xenomorph created by the engineer or just a fluke of the black goo.

Then the Engineers or Space Jockey came by and created the xenomorphs we all know and love.

The Yautja get a hold of some xenomorphs and through selective breeding or genetic engineering make their own variants. Hence why they resemble Clone-Hybrid xenomorphs.

David arrives on Planet 4 and attempts to recreate the xenomorph and through his earlier experiments either creates the Neomorphs or the black goo naturally makes Neomorphs on its own.

Romulus-Remus Xenomorphs were created through cloning a baseline xenomorph Big Chap, possibly genetically altered.

Auriga Xenomorphs are made from cloning Ripley's blood which was contaminated with the xenomorph DNA via carrying the queen chestburster.



Not sure if I should include more here, given the Anathema and the Hammerpede were pre-existing lifeforms modified by the black goo. I'm contemplating whether to include advanced hybrids like the Newborn and the Offspring. What do You guys think?

Okay I made an up to date chart. After this I'll make an expanded universe, a black goo adjacent one, a caste chart and finally a complete chart with my own speculative ideas.

There is a lot of speculation always, but you might want to go into more detail there. An adult being connected to an adult in those simplified lines, isn't really the whole story, it's Queens being connected to Queens in some of them. For instance, the Auriga adult xenos aren't a predecessor to the Newborn, they're more like cousins or sisters, since the Auriga Queen is the common node between them. The Neomorph to David's Alien needs a few more lines, especially from the book Davids Drawings and the Advent special features stuff. he basically combined the native spiders/crustations + native plants + Neomorphs + Engineer fetuses + Shaw's bodyparts to get a genetic mix that resulted into the creature in Covenant.

Also, the Deacon is in no way a predecessor to the Perfected. If you're going by the RPG, they're both coming from the goo. The Perfected is a special stage further from the Fifield monsters and the Deacons are a sister line, a dead end by the RPG and comic sources.

Thanks for the input. My speculative evolution chart is incomplete at the moment. Yes I did simplify some linages, yes I have the Auriga xenomorph adult represent the Auriga linage but that includes the queen for simplicity sake. I'm not suggesting the Newborn comes from the adults. It's just the Auriga Queen and the Auriga Drones belong to the same species so I didn't feel the need to brand the Auriga Queen as a separate species.

I'm currently working on the black goo mutations. The xenomorph family tree will get more complex as I work on it more. Thanks for the feedback.

Okay fixed some things, what do you think so far? I having been thinking of including the Auriga Queen but cladograms are supposed to be simplified versions of biological family trees.

However I will include a more detailed chart on how Hybrids are created. Once I'm done with my Black Goo chart and Xenomorph Caste chart

There's different type of aliens in the fireteam elite game that I'd love to see expanded on in some form in the EU. Neca released 4 in their line and while I'd love to see more its unlikely that they will at this stage.

The four released are

1 Runner xeno. Very similar to the dog alien seen in alien 3 they hunt in packs and dont have the spikes on their backs.

2 Prowler xeno. These have a crescent shaped head with a rustic red coloring. They circle the perimeter and can take you by surprise

3 Burster xenos. They only think of the safety of the hive and have a carapace that bursts into acid when hit. They dont think of their safety only to protect the queen and maybe a king alien

4 spitter aliens are variants of burster who attack from distance sending streams of acid at their targets. These are one of the only known alien who don't get too close to a target.

There are also praetorian, the Queen and I think a king alien.

In terms of how these aliens evolved I'm not sure how much is out there on them but I enjoyed facing them in the game.

There are also the traditional drone alien seen in other aspects of the franchise and are a lot tougher to kill in the game then the 4 types mentioned.

If you are a neca collector it's worth checking out the 4 they released.

Xenomorph castes were my next project. well I might as well just go and make a Caste chart of the mainline xenomorphs.
