No need to admit it, this shot is great, as numerous others are in Prey.

SiL

The shot of his cloak deactivating in the smoke is also great.

Highland

QuoteHe realises he's not cloaked beforehand. His cloak turns off, he rubs the ash, he walks into the trap

I mean he wasn't going to just shit himself and bail.

Predator cloak getting found out/disabled is pretty much a staple of the series.

Within the Stars

JH and CH also walked into Traps, JH does it multiple times infact, first time he squeals and starts randomly blasting around with his caster

BigDaddyJohn

But the first time you didn't even know where he was until he got caught in the net very close to Dutch's ass. That's some sneaky hunter right there.

SiL

Jungle Hunter avoids the tripwires and Arnie's attempt to lure him at the end.

City Hunter realises a trap has been set and adjusts accordingly.

Neither just lumber forward with no apparent situational awareness like Feral.

Feral is my third favorite personally, right behind Jungle Hunter and Wolf, PussyFace has the worst designs for me, armor and weapons, and he feels redundant to some extent.

Having a go at a feral berserker type predator was a blast and fresh, the face design is horrendous sadly.

So I'm very eager to discover the one in Badlands, even if he seems more like the stereotypical hunter with honor type, maybe his "young age" will allow for a more "edgy" and moody character..

CH did avoid the trap in the slaughterhouse, what are you refering to ?

Quote from: Mr.Turok on Apr 11, 2025, 06:39:14 AMAm I the only one who realizes that Feral is an individual that has his own hunting methods that are just simply different for both fun and characterizations sake?
No, you're not special.

The problem is the film removes so many things about the Predator that they add up to something else.

Change the appearance, or change the behaviour, or change the armour, whatever. But when you change everything in one hit, you're left with very little to connect it back to the title character.

Remove the cloaking device and three point laser targeting and you could drop Feral into an Asylum Predator knockoff and nobody would bat an eye.
I say this because seems like you just don't like that he isn't a copy and paste personality of the original Predator.

The biggest difference, perhaps the ONLY difference, between JH and Feral is that Feral thinks he is that guy, while JH is a veteran who knows when to regroup and rearm. He still stalks, he still observes the various life forms on Earth to determine who is worthy to take down, he travels through the trees, has the thermal vision, and all that jazz. His character, his very name Feral, describes him as such. A powerhouse that is here to test your might. He reminds me of like one of those young hotheaded MMA trainees that thinks they got it just because they won a few rounds against their own peers until he meets a real hardened and experienced fighter and get's their ass handed to him in the octagon and humbles his ass. He is still a MMA trainee, just a strong but idiotic one. A personality that is one of many in the training gym. Feral was that one guy who thought he was all that in his clan and paid dearly for it.

Let's also be honest for a moment, if the new upcoming Naru were to fight and defeat an experienced hunter like JH, people would be up an arms about how such an inexperienced hunter covered in plot armor defeated a centuries old hunter that should have known better. And that is putting it lightly because you know there are those people would say a whole lot more about that...especially about her gender.

It fits with the theme of brain over brawn, he is the perfect foil to Naru. Feral thought he can muscle his way through and paid for it. Even the other characters emphasis this with her brother and his tribesmen had shown that throughout the film. Taabe doubting Naru and the other tribesmen believing that she lacks the bravado grit for it. Yet, despite their speed, skill, and strength, it all failed them in the end. They all fell to Feral when they faced him head on, because he can do what they do just much better. Having an Predator like JH would have severely undermine that premise: being a good hunter means being a smart one, not just a strong one. Perhaps in a probable sequel in which we can get one like JH that can be a great test for a battle tested post-Prey Naru can greatly fit better to her strengthened character.

I've made it abundantly clear I don't want or expect copy pastes so I'm not bothering with the rest of what you've written.

If you like him you like him. I don't. I explain why and defend my perspective when questioned.

That's all.

Quote from: Titus on Apr 10, 2025, 06:05:01 PMMan I'm not liking the sound of this so far. I don't want to sit there and root for the Predator or "bond" with it. The Predator is a "bad guy" character. Its a killer Alien that hunts for sport. You're not supposed to see it all the time. This to me just sounds like another attempt are making it into some kind of anti hero.

I'm afraid that we represent a small minority.I don't mind playing the avp arcade game and slap aliens and colonial marines for fun, with a fun Aliens setting, but the movies are a different kind. The Predator movies are serious business in the sense that there were a combination of a lot of talented people, from the mannerism of KPH to the presence of Arnie, the writing, the predator designs, the sound design, the music, the photography, Oh My! And the souvenir.

It's been 35 years and nothing was good. The fanfics people took over like when Deckard became a replicant just because of lot of fanboys wanted it, even if  it's not intended, even if it sucks ass. This is the spoiled little kids wish era, and Dan wants his own wrong looking preds, because , Rodriguez, Shane Black , Anderson, The Strause and whatnot, did it too. Hokpins was a mature guy, he did the job well, he made his own pred but he respected the spirit. He respected what made them iconic.

So this time we're getting a skinny pred sporting a cape and a mask, teaming up with a blonde girl, there will be entire scenes of pred dialogues in pred language, there will be pred bikes, this is so bad, it's lasagna in a can bad.I would even bet on a kiss between, them at the end, I sh!t you not.Execution isn't going to save this. Not surprised anyway, my insider wasn't too far from the final product.

Killers of killers should've been great, it was as I said earlier, a cheap way to get the old design back.
They should've used the WW2 Thomas bros script, instead you get the 3 stooges as predators, one lost his hairpiece by the way.

What's depressing is that there are talented writers and directors out there, but they won't get the chance to shine because of politics.Bummer.

They did and i thought Feral looked kinda the same where they're like literal linebackers but their heads are even bigger!

I'd like to get to know how the intricacies of a plasma caster, the circuitry that is set inside and cpu that runs it is crafted by hands that look as though they have as much dexterity as the creature from the black lagoon. I mean Yaujta Prime has a body shop for the ships with a mechanic predator fixing them .   I just don't see how a predators hands are that of a surgeon. I used to ponder this in 1 when jungle hunter was bumbling round with his medi kit and plasters for his wounds - looked troubling for him so to asssume his race can construct the inner portion of a thruster on a galaxy traversing ship has me stumped

First time posting. Hey, everyone. Do you think Dan Trachtenberg should direct the Alien Romulus sequel or let Fede Álvarez do it again?

Preydator

I'm not gonna lie I'd be really curious to see Trachtenberg's take on Alien yeah. But right now just let Álvarez do his thing, he's done a good enough, traditional Alien movie, now I wanna see how far he can go and what kind of story he can come up with.

But let's say his idea of an AvP movie co-directed by Trachtenberg and himself happens, I wouldn't be against them maybe not completely switching sides/monsters, but have a bit of a say in the other creature, be it design or something else.
