I'm very late to this discussion, but I agree that the MAX-like element could offer something we've rarely seen in an
Alien game outside of the arcade iterations. Having a mechanical suit completely envelop the player seems like a natural progression and expansion of what made
Fireteam Elite so enjoyable for me too, ie tinkering with the various weapons, classes, and ability trees.
Imagine being able to equip different weapons to each arm, along with shoulder, back, and even leg mounts. Then a whole expansion of the perks grid on top of it, and the ability to apply decals directly to the suit itself. All the more baffling that they seem to be abandoning that entirely in favor of
Aliens: Warframe.
In terms of other elements, I don't mind the idea of it being set in an 'upmarket' space colony for a change (as we haven't really seen that outside of the odd comic series), and the prospect of using Engineer tech is intriguing. I wouldn't even mind 'zombie' aliens if they're framed properly (easily done as an extension of what we've seen the black goo do in
Prometheus and
Romulus), while having the Drone as the new base alien would up the stakes appropriately given the increased lethality and durability of the suits.
