Yeah that face is definitely modelled after a particular Alien.

Wweyland

This is a welcome surprise.

Ok, I'm in for this.  I guess that means no Alien Romulus "Origins" from Titan..

Speaking of Titan, ehem, novelization.. hint, hint...

Mike’s Monsters

Don't believe a novelization or art book is on the way. We'd had heard of it by now.

Nightmare Asylum

I just want an art/making of book... :'(

Mike’s Monsters

As do I...

Nope.
Awful. This is so Marvel. Not into their take at all.
Just my opinion. Marvel have no subtly or style

Oh, that's really sad.
I fully expected that a making of or art book would come. Maybe there is still hope and they want to wait and see how the film does at the box office.
I definitely think that's better than a making of being released earlier than the film. This was the case with Alien Resurrection in 1997.
The making of came out earlier than the film and presented the design of the Newborn in all its glory.

Somewhat similar situation with Predators, received a prequel comic but no novelization.

Alien: Romulus sequel comic featuring Goro Alien confirmed, then.

That was the sequel though! But I'm all for Alien: Romulus Aftermath (bot no need for Glow In The Dark Aliens).

Hence me saying this the existence of a prequel, a la Predators, confirms the inevitable existence of a sequel as well. ;)

Hell, Blomkamp already made their job easier for them!

God this design looks so good, but it is ruined by the two extra arms. Why would you put two extra arms? It was already good in the first f**king place. Why would you also make the Derelict to be made out of human DNA and make the xenomorph capable of building ships, even though they never been shown to be that intelligent. WHY NEIL BLOMKAMP!?!?

Nightmare Asylum

My only guess is, the intent with the four arms was going to be to have it molting into a Queen. But who knows for sure.

As for the Derelict being made out of "human DNA" by the Aliens, it's silly/out there but also, it's the element from Blomkamp's overall concept that I found to be the most interesting. I'd be curious to learn more about that piece of the puzzle. I'm sure it wouldn't have been particularly good, but it's way more interesting/wild a concept than I would have expected from a movie that otherwise seems to have had the aspiration to be an adaptation of the Kenner Aliens stuff, more or less.

I respect your opinion, personally I just found a silly/dumb with all the Kenner stuff and outlandish ideas even more than the other silly shit that was shown in the movies. Like we get no hints that they are able to build any kind of structure that can be remotely resembled a vehicle, but all of a sudden it's revealed  they can do it? It just feels so out of place. The Kenner stuff doesn't help with this too. The Biomech is just silly to me there no way around it.

Add that to the fact that this director wanted to recon 3 and Resurrection because Newt and Hick Died. Even if those two later, movies weren't as good as the first two and the third one isn't that bad with inclusion of the "Directors" cuts.
