It probably would be seen in poor taste to celebrate I think, considering the death and tragedy the world is currently experiencing.
Unfortunate since the things that I love are what help me cope in times like this.
I get that. I really do. For me too. But "Come celebrate" anything commercial might be crossing that insensitivity line at the moment. At least that's my guess.
It's safest to assume that summer is basically cancelled at this point.
They had been intending to do some stuff for AlienDay, but I've no idea where it stands now. I see Voodoo's point, but I'm also on the side of Buddy too. In these shitty times, our interests are what keeps us insane inside our house, and even if I can't go out to buy anything in person, I'm quite happy to order some stuff to my door to keep that sanity.
I don't know what's planned, but Alien Day 2020 is still on!

I always thought Hicks was just perpetually teetering on the precipice of insanity. It's never occurred to me that all of this may have already pushed him over the edge and we've been dealing with an alternate personality for the past few weeks.

Safariflage was a commercial camo pattern that came out well after the movie was made. In the early days of USCM costumes, many people decided to use it since the colors were similar to the ones used in the movie. Years later 'Men At Arms' made screen accurate camoflauge, and he had 3 different versions. His 2nd Pattern was the most accurate - of which I have a set. He then seemingly disappeared.
Since then, I had taken on the task to reproduce the camo, and I drew it up in AutoCAD over a period of months. The camo that was used in the movie, was made specifically for the movie. It did not exist anywhere else - even though there are some similarities to various camo such as EDRL. My own brand of camo, I called HORPAT. Unknown to me, Spat Cave Studios was also working on reproducing the camo, and sometime later Chef's Creations also got into the game. Screen accurate camo is available to people that want to buy it. It's not safariflage.
I like these but not as much as the back to the future 2 sneakers.

It would be nice if they would just produce these regularly. I have a pair of blue ones that are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I hardly wear them though because I'm sure I'll never have another pair to replace them with.

I'm not keen on the new trainers - if I'm gonna get a pair of ridiculous retro movie-inspired shoes, I'd rather they just looked like the ones in the movie - but I'm glad they're doing at least something for Alien Day this year. I imagine stuff like physical merch is probably too far along in development and production to really cancel anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if the event's a bit more low-key though.
And going back to the shoes, I hope for anyone interested they don't get scalped as bad as the last few releases have.

Very little unfortunately. Just had the email with everything. The only new products are the shoes, and 2 new Reebok shirts. There's also going to be some discounts for Aliens vs. Pinball and Alien: Blackout. Oterhwise its pimping existing releases like the Mega Construx eggs, the Lanard figures and some release dates for the other books out this year.

To us OG's of ALIENS early releases these were the story ideas that should've, logically, came after aliens in movie form but which we didn't get. I guess the question is, are these audio books actually successful? If so, presumably there would be more.
Also, presumably Titan is aware of how popular Cold Forge is. So one would hope that would be the next book go get the audio treatment.
I've always been of the mind that authors and artists should take their time and put out a better finished product. Cold Forge is a longer book so it would stand to reason that it takes more time to produce the audio version. My two cents.

Well, for the Alien day Ill be rewatching Alien for the first time in over 3 years (Covenant repelled me from the mythology for those years like Resurrection did in 97 for around the same time too). Im genuinely excited and been gearing up for some time to do it at the right time

Disney are stopping independent cinemas from showing ALIEN or limiting cinematic re-relases unless sanctioned by Disney.
There was a debate over whether this "vault" would extend to limiting the supplies of newly pressed Blu-Rays, but doesn't mean ones manufactured would be pulled from the shelves.

Anyway I decided last week to give the Zulu Hendricks quadrilogy a chronological re-read so I read all of "Defiance" on Sunday, read through "Prototype" over the course of the week and this morning I finished it off with "Resistance" and "Rescue". Now I'm gonna give the prequels a go.

Even though it was quieter there was still some nice artwork and shares going around.
Hicks' Alien Trilogy stream inspired me to mess around with some emulation for the game, and I must say I got it looking pretty good! Hopefully a 'Let's Play' for that one is in order.

I was pleasantly surprised! Without any official announcements, it was still a very busy day! I was glued to the Twitter feed and it was always active. It was really nice to see it trending. Alien still makes some noise!

Yeah, the footage you sent me was much nicer. I was always keen to just do it "authentically" but I just think better looking is more preferable now.

I hate to be negative, but I tried listening to the AVP Perfect Organism podcast and I couldn't get through 15 minutes. Not only do I not agree with their opinions, the other guys on that podcast are pretty annoying to listen to. Hicks, you gotta make some more on your own.
I think Hicks is doing his best. As usual.
As for PO guys: I haven't listened this commentary yet (there was surprisinhly a lot of content yesterday) but I found the first episode of their so called Shit Show about AvP to be fun and engaging. I guess, I just enjoyed their more light and positive approach 'cause whenever I hear someone talk about AvP lately It's mostly giving the movie shit about how dissapointing it was.

I totally agree. Hicks was just a special guest on this particular podcast, and I thought he did great.
The other guys were annoying.

I don't think they were annoying, they just didn't took it as seriously as people here do because they're not fans of the initial premise ( Alien versus Predator, I mean). At the end of the day, site's called AvPGalaxy so AvP as a concept is taken into consideration as well as Alien and Predator while their show's called Perfect Organism which implies Alien, only Alien and nothing apart from Alien. So when they eventually get to talk about something else they just don't hold it to such high standarts. I had a lot of fun listening to them.
To be quite honest, AvPR commentary that Hicks and Co did while was quite enjoyable and fun left me a bit pissed off at the end when RidgeTop tried to evaluate the movie saying that it at least better than The Predator with what I just cannot agree. Sorry, RidgeTop, nothing personal, just difference of opinions.
But I agree that they need to do more of these.
