Title: Interview (no footage)
Post by: vehtam on May 13, 2009, 07:59:05 PM
Here's video interview from polish magazine CD-A with Rebellion guys. No footage though. Maybe someone finds it interesting. :)

That was actually way more informative than most of the current articles.

Looks good, but I hope that they won't just hype the game like insane, then report us that the game will be delayed with like... a year.

Oh, and the author of article saw footage of the predator gameplay. He described one of the predator abilities - you will be able approach the victim (marine) and rip out the head with the spine in the very gory way. Sounds awesome. That's the only new thing described though. He also mentions there will be footage shown during E3.

And there's Gemma Willocks (SEGA) quote about A:CM and Aliens RPG being pretty much alive and looking fantastic so far. I don't belive her though ;).

^Hell yes.

This has cured my depression... this game is just *wow* - I mean look at the atmosphere in those screenshots.

And I'm glad we're getting an interwoven narrative just like in AVP2.

We know they had, because of how long ago a certain director mentioned this. Can't agree on the other one having a great story, though.

Always wondered what a nest would look like in a jungle. :)

Bad news: Predators get human vision mode, again. Ugh.

Good news: They've done what I've been saying they should do, for years and given the Predator the ability to record and use sounds. Yay!

Predators shouldn't have a vision mode that looks exactly like human vision though.  It should at least be warped, desaturated, or something.

But anyway, recordable voices?  Oh yeah!

I don't mind getting normal vision mode for predators while having your mask on. When the mask is gone, I think it should force the predator to have significant disadvantage, by giving Predator 1 movie type of vision. Not even so sure what that vision mode presents, but has the movie authentic feeling in it.

unfiltered infrared.

Preds having yellow green short band makes absolutely no sense. It's pretty damn obvious a concession to casual "I don't know jack shit about the backstory for this game" players. Preds think they have the lagest penii ever constructed in a bipedal species; they have the EM modes they think are important and YGS isn't one of them.

They should definitely see in this should they lose their bio-mask. However I think the fact the devs are allowing Predators to see normally is fine, it makes it easier to play. Making it 100% movie accurate isn't always a good thing.

Thermal without the mask. Several vision modes with it - but none of them should look exactly like human vision. The one for seeing other Predators, in the old game, was pretty much useful for seeing things, in general, it's just that they made it fuzzy after a certain distance. Get rid of the range limitation and that would suffice perfectly.

Exactly. The only time I wouldn't mind it, is if they give the option for switching to a third-person view. You get the best of both worlds, that way.

Between this and deliberately downgrading Alien speed, I think we're all going to have genuine reasons to apply the same scepticism as we did for a couple of recent film directors' claims of supposedly staying as close to authenticity as possible.

The whole point of the first film, was that the very differences which made the hunter so alien, could be used against it.

If they have to grant these sort of unnecessary 'balancing' concessions, then they should only be present on easy levels. Normal and difficult should do away with them, so as to deliver a more realistic experience.

human vision for predators is vital, cause some people are sensitive to prolonged use of thermal versions.    also as humans, we can never fully grasp how the predator can understand the details of the enviornment in that vision.

like a trip wire for example.  in thermal we can't see them clearly, but somehow Predators can (see first movie).

it's one thing having a fish eye view for aliens.  but a view that inverts everything like thermal vision is uncomfortable and ineffective in some cases.    plus as a pred you can't fully appreciate the detail of their wrist blades and the gore of your target if there is no human vision mode.

the good thing is that people who  dont like human vision don't have to use it as preds.

It didn't stay in thermal mode. It probably had a vision mode similar to the "Tech" vision mode in avp2, which allowed the player to see guns, exosuits, and other preds.

Well on the vision mode thing. I always had the feeling that when we saw the Predator in P2 look once he had his mask off was a mistake when they made the film. It might not have been a mistake but if it is than that would put the whole natural vision back into speculation.
