Netflixed me some 80's sci-fi/horror

Breeders: 3 out of 10 - not so sure what i was expecting, but it certainly wasn't anything resembling a good film. An alien rapes virgins b/c he needs their purity to reproduce. The concept is novel enough i suppose. I'm pretty positive it could also double as soft core porn. Chicks just be getting naked. Also, except for a bit part here or there no one in this film is older than 25.

The Stuff: 6 out of 10 - it started off solid, but eventually went of the rails entirely when they brought in the local anti-communist militia lurking down in Georgia. Definitely interesting and entertaining, but it's only so good in the end.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Special Extended Edition

Much like FotR, I now don't think I can go back to the theatrical cut of this. The added scenes were simply great, fleshing out characters and filling in plot holes. The best scene by far was of Boromir and Faramir in Osgiliath. The insight into both character's motivations was just wonderful, making them all much more sympathetic and and full

As a child, I always liked this movie more than Fellowship. Now, I don't think I could possibly choose between the two of them.

Next up, Return of the King.

Yep, the scene with the brothers should definitely have been included in the TTT theatrical cut as well. It's that essential to bring you a deeper understanding of their family relationships and overall agenda. Peter Jackson, I love the LOTR films to death, but dayyymn....

Somewhat unrelated, but has anyone else but me, seen William Wylers The Collector from the 60s with Terrence Stamp and Samantha Eggar? It's completely different than this film, tonally speaking, but thematically you can draw a loose comparison with the plot revolving around a sick individual 'collecting' other people.

But yeah, the Boromir/Faramir scene was something I'd heard about and was eagerly awaiting to finally see; two of my favourite character, on screen together. Was just wonderful to behold. The brotherly love combined with the rivalry brought on by their father. Those were all things I'd supposed before, through many viewings of the theatrical cuts, but it was great to finally see.

Crocodile Dundee (1986)

Excellent movie. Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski have great chemistry on screen (apparently off screen as well) and they really make a good job of showing the beautiful side of Australia in the first half of the movie. While still good, the second half (from the arrival in New York and onwards) isn't quite as interesting to me.

Completely agreed. I think the same goes for the sequel. In their New York settings, they become borderline slapstick comedy on repeat. When they get to Australia, the film suddenly comes alive and probably the best tourism advert of Australia ever made.

Indie Game: The Movie

8.5/10

All around great Documentary...could have been so much more if it didn't just focus on Super Meat Boy, Fez, and a bit of Braid, but it was good to see what at least a few indie game developers have to go through. Sweet moments with Super Meat Boy if you ask me, and Fez had like a ton of issues to go through, loved every bit of it.

I thought The Guard was great. I loved it. It has that same delicious British humor and wit in films like In Bruges and Snatch. The Change-Up was decent, some of the jokes fell flat, but good lord was Olivia Wilde a fox in that.
