Cool in a vacuum

Maybe a proto alien.

I was using these for my RPG stuff as far back as 2012, so definitely been around online for a good while. I'm a big fan of the art, although perfectly happy for it to never get near any official releases.

Never liked the extra long Resurrection style fingers.

Yeah, they really amplified the "goofy rubber suit" effect.

Artistically I like the original giger hands. The knuckles always looked like little skull designs to me until I saw them really up close.

The most effectively used hands on screen would probably be the Winston/warrior hands. That shot in Aliens when the warrior grabs the APC door is well executed. Feels like the alien actually has a solid grip. Also the hand that goes around Hudson's face, evoking the face hugger to come.

The extra long digits do give a noodle effect.

I never thought of that !

I can portrait a practical suit of the Space Jockey having the head in the back.

Back to the actual Alien designs, yeah I guess they're just bad  :-\

The Queen looks like The Wife from Pink Floyd The Wall.  Which worked in Pink Floyd The Wall...

Having the head in the back of the Alien is an interesting idea, but the designs - nah.  Never liked the extra long Resurrection style fingers.

They should use these in a new AVP Extinction game.

At least the Queen.  :P

I know it's just concept art, but even on that level I can't wrap my head around so fundamentally redesigning the creature.

The whole point of AVP is to see the iconic creatures going head to head. Changing the whole look of it spoils that.

Yeah, they did the rounds a few years ago.

Terrible, terrible designs.

I'm sure we've seen these before but...

QuoteI didnt know today is Alien Day......i kept seeing all these Xenomorph Alien posts and figured ill share in the love for Alien Day as well......attached r designs i had done at Steve Johnson's edgefx around 2001 when we got a call to put in a bid for Alien V Predator.......did these rough ideas back then to help get some ideas off the table for discussion incase it went further....becuase it came and went so fast i only had a few days on this and was so excited to work on these icon creatures i was doing them inbetween actual paying jobs.....the great thing about Steve is he never got angry if i felt passionate about something and then showed him designs before he mentioned anything...it was fun times back then....i re-layed some of these quick design sketches we wanted to try and explore but still keeping faithful to H.R. Gigers designs....Both Alien and Aliens r icon for me as a kid as im sure for allot of creature designers out there...inspired me in many ways as a creature designer........in my humble opinion H.R. Gigers Xenomorph design is still the best and transcends time.......please stay safe.
