Looked like both actors having some fun with the audience - a joke that didn't quite come off.

Hilarious, you do realize they play opposing roles with different motivations in the film. So its just a play on their characters, plus they were probably promoting the film and she was invited to this appearance as Paul's guest. Their riffing just makes their characters on film that much more interesting. That is all.
