Don't think that counts as a rip-off though, it might have some inspiration but it is its own movie.

The 2002 British werewolf flick, DOG SOLDIERS, with a platoon of Brit soldiers on a training mission in the Scottish Highlands. Then fighting for their lives against a pack of ravenous werewolves. Along with influences from ALIENS and THE EVIL DEAD, has a strong PREDATOR vibe throughout.

Speaking of the furry folk. In the Disney animated series GARGOYLES' Season Two episode "Eye of the Beholder". One of show's femme fatales, Fox, receives a wedding gift in the form of near priceless item called the Eye of Odin. Little did she or her fiancee know. It possessed magical properties which during the night, turn her into werewolf like beast. On top of the episode using the City Hunter's roars from PREDATOR 2. There's a chase, fight scene in a meat packing plant, like the flick's third act.

OH???

Where was this said? Starlog, Starburst? This is SUPER important

Spoiler
in PREY, Naru stabs Feral with one of his own fangs - just like Theseus kills the Minotaur using one of the beast's horns. I mention this in the podcast, but had NO IDEA that the Thomas bros likened the original Predator to a Minotaur. This is WICKED!

Yeah actually, there are readings of King Kong that establish the ape as a symbol of primal masculinity. I specifically refer to the ID monster because it's what people refer to usually (Winston makes direct references to the ID monster when talking about Pumpkinhead, for one)

Quote from: SiL on Aug 08, 2022, 08:03:53 PM2) what did the Predator movies take from Forbidden Planet? An invisible monster? That was hardly unique to that film.
The Predator is an ID monster in the ID forest, much like the sheer majority of popular 80s creatures. The first iteration (in films) of an ID monster is... the ID monster from Forbidden Planet

the satirical tone is also tons RoboCop - Harrigan punches a Detroit journalist in the face, basically

Ohh yeah, of course. Sorry I was thinking about the original.

Yeah, Predator 2 definitely rips off Robocop. But it's not as good or as funny.
