A certain other forum member talked about having a thread for firearm appreciation. Here it is.

I hope that person will contribute to the thread.  ;D

It was Huggs, wasn't it?

I don't own any weapons at the moment. Definitely would like to in the near future. What do you recommend for a southpaw?

Yeah, it was me. I was going to start "The AVP Armory".

Still might. My plans are quite different, But I shelved them temporarily due to uncertainty about the political fallout. Nevertheless, a good GP thread is a must, and I look forward to spending a lot of time here.

Do you follow any of the youtubers Ahab?

You guessed right.  Depends on what you are looking for; pistol, rifle, or shotgun.

What i know about the weapons it's that they should not be given to me. Otherwise i would use it against anybody who disagree with me.

Really, when somebody pisses me off i just imagine using machine gun against him - it makes me feel better a little.

Which is why we do criminal background checks and have waiting periods for firearms here.  ;D

Just FYI, That kind of post can come back to seriously bite you in the @$$ in court someday. Even if the charge doesn't involve the use of a firearm. Always be careful about how you describe yourself on the internet.

Ha-ha! How you gonna get me in far far away country that you barely know anything about!

Seriously though thank you for good advise. I won't use guns against you in my imagination for now.

Pistol.

Glocks are a great starter pistol. They are highly affordable and come in several calibers and sizes.

Pistol.

Pistol is always a solid first choice because it automatically covers all roles. It is both adequate for home defense, and small and concealable enough to not be a physical/legal burden should the need arise to carry a firearm outside of the home.

The best thing to do is to go to a range and rent/try a variety of pistols to see which caliber and design suits you best .

Everybody has a perfect caliber . It's all a matter of finding it . There are simply far too many women who are led to believe they can only shoot a small firearm adequately, and too many men who get firearms in calibers too large for them to manage effectively in a defensive situation.

It's about what you shoot effectively and accurately. It's about being comfortable and confident in your ability with the particular firearm and cartridge that suit you best. Don't let anyone tell you what works best for you. Your body and the guns will do that for you.

Yeah, as long as you don't shoot lead or get them in .40   ;)

This is some solid advice, Rabbit.

TheSailingRabbit

I believe it. The shooting range was the one thing I looked forward to when I was in boot camp. The Navy recruit handbook said we'd be firing an M9 Baretta (I think it was M9 Baretta, I could be mistaken) and a shotgun whose make and model I forgot.
