So, I just finished listening and it was kinda awful.
It didn't feel like there was much of a sense of direction, a lot of the characters sounded too similar, and there were simply
too many characters.
The new parts of the story were well acted, specifically from the woman who played Anne Jorden. I liked the depictions of daily life on the colony and the addition of "space madness". The sound effects were nice but were recycled from Out of the Shadows and subsequently, Isolation.. which ends up being a distraction. Also, it really just wasn't as
fun as Out of the Shadows. I liked the characters in that story. They were just as strong and memorable as Ripley was to be honest. They were smart and well fleshed out and I was really rooting for them. But that didn't come across in this audio drama.
The characters felt pretty empty most of the time as most were just a cookie cutter Marine. Russ Jorden's pitiful jealously when Brackett shows up on Hadley's Hope was dumb and shouldn't have been part of the story at all. And the cuts to Ripley's first days on Gateway Station were too much, especially with dialogue that wasn't nearly as well acted as it was in the actual film. It really bogged the story down.
Mostly disappointing. Mostly
