The last entry played the meta card way too much. Riddick was too much aware of his image in the public eye and played it too cocky too many times, appearing silly more than badass IMO.

So you never played Butcher's Bay? That Riddick Video Game was a good as Pitch Black, maybe better.

Try Dark Fury. It's a bridge between Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick is voiced, well... by Riddick.

Dark Fury is good, but there's a weird change in animation styles partway through that always throws me off.

Escape from Butcher Bay and Assault on Dark Athena are fantastic. Some of the best first person action games of all time.

I sadlt never got to play Assault on Athena.

I never got to play through all of Butcher's Bay, but I did Dark Athena.  Athena wasn't bad but I seem to remember that there was a lot more variance in Butchers than there was in Athena.  Like actual sidequest and stuff. 


But it is also entirely possible I am misremembering.

That makes sense. Assault on Dark Athena wasn't originally intended to be a full game. They couldn't get backward compatibility for Butcher Bay, so it was supposed to be a remaster for the X360. They expanded it and turned it into an expansion campaign which acts as a sequel.

I love the Riddick franchise, especially the first game.
This franchise is really in need of some good Expanded Universe.
There are no comics and only 2 movie novelizations.
I have even toyed with the idea of creating a website for this universe but there's just too little content.
