Title: The Official "What was that Movie?" Thread
Post by: DUB1 on Nov 15, 2014, 02:48:20 PM
Use this thread to ask about the titles of movies you have vague memories about. -Omega

I believe it was from the 90s, and on the cover, there was a man with empty eye sockets and a snake, or snakes, coming out of them. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and if so, what was the title? Thanks in advance.

No, it had nothing to do with Jason Voorhees.

1976 rather 1990s perhaps?

I feel like this will be a useful thread. The trouble is when my memory of a film is such that I can only remember obscure details, I have trouble explaining it so that anyone has any idea what I'm talking about

I got one...

It takes place at a wedding and one of the characters makes a remark to another guy asking if if he's the wedding planner. The guy comments that just because he is gay doesn't mean he's the wedding planner. Immediately after; the wedding planner pops in and says in a flamboyant voice "did someone say wedding planner!?"

I was looking into Alien 3 and it's production story with the wooden planet and monks and somehow i ended up looking at the Legion novel which was use to create the Exorcist III. At the end of the book there's this little piece.

Quotehe believes the Big Bang was Lucifer falling from heaven, and that the entire Universe, including humanity, are the broken parts of Lucifer, and that evolution is the process of Lucifer putting himself back together as an angel.

And i remember seeing this same specific thing in a movie that i dont think was the Exorcist III.
What i barely remember about the movie was that there was a group of scientist studying something. Maybe some church relic? It was some sort of super thick substance? And i think the container that was in was leaking and made people to mad?

Anyway, at the end that idea i quoted was said. That Lucifer was the universe trying to put itself back together.

So what film was that? It wasnt the Exorcist III, right?

That has got to be Prince of Darkness (1987).

I've got one. I'm pretty sure it was a kids movie, set in medieval times. There was a kaiju type monster in it that was pretty clearly a rip-off of Godzilla and Spacegodzilla in design. I want to say that the monster started small-ish and then grew to Godzilla size, but I might be misremembering.

Ive got a very hard one because Im looking for it for a decade. Its a low budget flick, probably 80s. Horror. Small meteor comes down into the garden where an old grampa is sitting on a chair. Whatever was in the meteor approaches the grampa underground, making a visible path on the grass/ground. Since then the grampa is getting younger everyday and eventually becomes a young stud, but is different, travels around seducing women then murders them .

Any ideas?

Haha sounds like you watched The Blob, Tremors and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button then somehow mixed them all up in a blender.

So no, no idea :)

Rightio - this is a film I thought was one of the various Body Snatcher films but I was just looking through the film adaptations and it certainly doesn't appear to be one of them.

It's set in a rural house and the family are taken over/replaced by aliens. You can tell because they had little spikes coming out the back of their necks. The aliens lived in in a cave somewhere nearby. And that's all I've got. Spikes coming out of the back of their necks.

That sounds like Invaders From Mars.  The original was in 1953, Tobe Hooper did the remake in 1986.  When the aliens took over someone they had a spike in their neck.

Okay here's a toughie. I remember this being on Channel 5 in the UK once or twice and I really enjoyed it.

The Gist of the story is that a team of engineers, archeologists or such, land on a moon or asteroid and begin digging, they then find a bunch of strange carvings and tehn blow a hole into a chamber. Which of course unleashes an unstoppable creature, that kills them one by one. In the end three people escape on a shuttle and theres a gag about a game, that's been the running joke through the film.

One death scene I really remember is the hard as nails woman on the team goes to take the creature on as part of a plan with a futuristic Screwgun. The plan fails. The Creature pins her down and the gun goes off, shooting her in the side of the helmet and we watch at the screw, goes into the helmet, then her head as she screams for help.

I think this is late nineties or early noughties

Two films. Both pretty old.

First one: I would had to have seen it on television in the late late 70s. Like, 1978 or 1979. Movie could have been from the 60's for all I know. All I remember is an ethnic boy, East Indian looking, Two giant, spikey, horned monsters which blew real flame out of their mouths on on top of some mountains. They did not move much. Just roaring, their mouths opening and closing, flames spewing out, lots of smoke, maybe some limited head turning and arm moving.

Turns out these things were fake even within the continuity of the film because I remember the kid running around inside of them. Lots of HUGE gears turning. Big steaming pipes, and chains.

That's all I got for the first one.

SOLVED! Arabian Adventure. A Christoper Lee flick. The chances of Christopher Lee being in this film were pretty high anyway since he made about a million movies.

The second one I must have watched on HBO back in the early 80's because I remember it being on a lot and it was pretty violent for regular TV. It starred an Asian man with a mop-top hair cut, dressed all in black and he may have worn an eye patch. (He reminds of Sho Kosugi from Ninja 3: The domination)
Spoiler
[close]
He had some white allies with him. One of them female. Also enemies. All seemed to be converging on some lost city in the jungle and then they seemed to be underground in a cave a lot. Not a lot of dialogue. Vague memories of there being gems and artifacts involved. There seemed to be a mystical quality to the film because at some point towards the end he is possessed with some great power that helps him take out all the bad guys at the end. His skin gets all flaky and wired. His eyes are white and he shoots beams and shit out of his hands and face reminiscent of the spectral chain lighting that kills the Nazis at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. That's it. :([/s]

SOLVED: Treasure Of The Four Crowns.

lol ... The man guy who I thought was Asian, dressed all in black, and had an eye was not Asian, wore a red jacket and tan pants, and did not have an eye patch.

Once upon a time, maybe even 10 years ago, I stumbled upon a movie on TV that was so bad it was incredibly entertaining. I went from "What the hell is this crap, I'm skipping channel immediately" to not being able to look away. Unfortunately, it was late at night and I fell asleep during the movie. It's been on my mind ever since.

Since it was long time ago, I forgot almost everything. But I believe what I do remember can be of great help. So this is what I remember:

It's a sort of fantasy movie. The main character is looking for some magic book to destroy some evil witch(es). Most of the movie is set in a desert like location. There are also some sort of teleports involved.

I'm not sure, but I believe the main character had a scar and some teleports went to preset time. But this might be some other movie.

I'm sure if I just got a screenshot of a movie I'd be able to recognize it.

Thanks.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't see the Sticky Thread above for these things.

Found it. By found it I mean a friend found it for me.

It was actually Army of Darkness.

There was this old 80's horror movie I remember catching some of as a kid on tv but could never remember what it was called or find it since.
It started out with a killer in black chasing down a woman in a park I think. He is some kind of vampire who instead of biting her, sticks a plug socket into her neck which drains the blood through a tube into a bag in a briefcase he is carrying. It cuts next to a woman who is caretaking the mans house and is walking around naked.

I've got a tough one, a TV movie I think, maybe from the 90's or early 2000's. The action took place in a town where a family moves in, and the town is "too perfect" for them. They became suspicious and they realize that there are no black people, mexicans, gay people etc, only white straight catholic couples... In the end they realize that the town is ruled by a psycopath priest who is kind of a guru, and that he had everyone in the town under his power, and that he made kill everyone who was "different" and did not fit in his vision of perfect society. There's a memorable scene in the end, where the priest grabs a AK47, and says stuff like "this holy AK47 has been given to me by the Lord ! Amen !" and then he blast away at the "hero" family, without killing them,
Spoiler
the good guys win at the end,

but that was a fun scene !

Here's 2 that's been bugging me for years.

1st film is a low budget Sci-fi film around the 90's maybe late 80's. They is this spaceship that is somehow damaged and the crew is basically f**ked and are on borrowed time. I remember a woman going out to do repairs on the ship in her space suit, but she ends up getting killed. (Maybe hit by micro meteorites?) I can't remember how many were in the crew, but by the end of the film they are only 2 crew members left. 1 is a older scientist type of guy who comes across as someone who can't be trusted. The other is a guy who looks abit like a younger Bill Paxton. (Don't think it actually was Bill Paxton just someone who looked like him) By the end of the film they is not enough oxygen left to keep both guys alive. So the both play short straws to see who will commit suicide by using something like a cryotube to do it?  The older guy tricks the younger guy in to losing so the younger guy accepts his fate. But the is a twist, the older guy actually saves them both because he had a plan all along but he was not sure his plan would work however he needed the younger guy to lose the bet.

2nd film.. this is very hazy I was really young when I seen this. It might not of even went like how I'm going to describe it.
This film was made anywhere between the 70s early 80s. It was either a foreign film that was dubbed in to English or a English film with bad audio. The was this woman, who I think murdered her husband and buried him next to some lake. Either weeks maybe years pass (can't remember) and this stranger turns up at her door. (She might be renting a room out?) she ends up falling in love with this stranger. But he turns out to be the dead husband that has came back to revenge his death in someone else body. I remember at the end of the film the house is on fire. And it's not Hellriser.

There's these two movies that are tugging at my memories but I can't for the life of me remember their titles.

I will put them in Spoiler tags so as to not make a huge post, but I remember quite a few scenes.

Spoiler
The first one is about these two, a man and a woman, both had black hair. They were a couple and I remember one scene of them having some mad sex to the point of where they fall right off the side of the bed and continue f**king like rabbits on the floor. One scene is them taking a bath together and she takes a moment to suck his big toe (don't ask. )

Anyway, the main plot of the movie is that these two were criminals. They kidnapped this blond man and a blonde woman. The black haired woman in one scene is stepping on the hands of the blonde woman and I recall another scene where the blond man is tied to a chair and she kinda sits on him and grinds her hips against him.

Another scene is the black haired man brutally raping the blonde haired woman while the black haired woman watches from the shadows curiously (might've happened before she went to grind on the blond guy.)

One scene in the movie has the blond guy dreaming or remembering having sex with a very large fat woman who was wildly riding his tiny skinny body.

Another scene is some dude getting slowly crushed by a huge truck, first his legs (agonised screams ensue) then his body (more screams) and then his head as the truck is moving in reverse.

I think at one point the blonde woman was being covered in food by a mob of people almost as if being prepared to get eaten.

And the ending of the movie is the black haired guy seemingly defeats some person and turns around to see the black haired woman, she watches in horror as his opponent rises and shoots her boyfriend in the back with a shotgun. She then kills the killer and walks away from the scene, the last moments of the movie is her silently walking down a street, ignoring the public as she has a sad look on her face and is in the moments of crying.

Does anybody remember this f**ked up movie? I never saw it fully, only some scenes.

Same for the next one below.

Spoiler
All I remember of this one is that there was this woman with short white hair and some guy seemingly obsessed with her.

One scene, she is driving and he just jumps in her car and begins taking control of the wheel and harassing her.

Another scene is she walks out of a shower naked, seen by some other man who then jumps on her and begins forcibly kissing her all over before they both fall down on the floor and he stops when she covers her face and is likely crying.

And the last bits I recall is later in the movie, the guy who was seemingly obsessed and harassing her (car guy) now seems to get along with her and both have some passionate sex in her car with no roof or something.

These scenes have stuck in my head since my very early childhood and I am now genuinely curious to see the full movies and what the hell the plots were about because I am interested in the characters and their motives.

Has anyone seen these films or know of them?

QuoteThat sounds like Trapped In Space. Based on an Arthur C Clarke story. It's on the UK Horror Channel this week!

I just typed that film in to YouTube and the full movie was there. I've just had a little skip through it, and it seems like it's the same film.  ;D I'm gunna watch it again within the next few days to see if my memory remembers it correctly. I'm sure the will be afew parts were my imagination just ran wild when trying to remember it. Anyhow thanks for the reply I'm sure this is the one.  ;D ;D  8) it was 1997 when I last seen this thanks for the reply.

There's another film I remember quite vaguely.

It had this humanoid monster, probably with very dark green skin. It was sort of reptilian.

In one scene, it was in a cage and managed to escape and the human characters find it nearby in some forested area eating a person.

Then later on in the film, they're all on a ship out at sea with the same creature on board the ship hunting them down one by one. I recall one person walked down the ship corridor and the creature just snatched him out of the way mid-walk with a very loud echo roar.

Another scene is of the characters looking at the CCTV camera and seeing the creature standing very still in a corner of the ship interior, slightly slouched.

And I think there was a part where one of the characters is sneaking around and an oven opens with burned human limbs falling on him.

I also have a tough one, I have been searching for this half my life.

I remember 2 (possibly samurai) armies fighting on a green open field.
Some of them use guns. It starts raining, the guns get wet and the possibly one side loses because of this.

Some dudes go on a quest to get water-proof guns (or possibly cannons) and get back with them in the end of the movie to have another battle.
That's all I remember.

I remember this from some kind of B-level zombie movie from the 70ties or 80ties.
There was a zombie outbreak in a small town and an onlooker spots a kid eating his dads intestines inside a car.
This has haunted me for a long time.

I got two darn films stuck in my head, one is an old comedy and another is cheap horror. It can be such a headache when you are trying to remember these things  :P

The comedy: From what I remember, its about this man who taken in as baby by his uncle after his parents ditched him, he grows up to be a photographer/journalist/investigator or something. He is clumsy and his uncle has to constantly put up with him. The uncle in question is bald/balding with a moustache. In the intro, he was like a hippy as I remember a particular funny scene when he is handed the baby and it urinates on him and is response is something like "Not cool man".  I also remember another scene where the uncle has an headache or something and a faith healer tries to "help" him by smacking him in the head. "lose satan!" or something he said.

The horror: This movie was likely a low budget rip off from what I remember of the quality, it had alien bugs that sucked the life the out of people, leaving them like husks, and another Alien that was fighting them that was a predator rip-off, only he was friendly.

Any of you know what these movies were called?

I doubt anyone knows about this one but: There was this movie on TV in the 90s, or tv show, I don't know, about robots that looked human but had guns behind their eyes. like the left half of their head would flip open to reveal a gun behind their eye. One of them gets gunned down by an old lady after an argument.

Found it. By found it I mean a friend found it for me.

It was actually Army of Darkness.

What are you trying to say by saying that ?  It needs to be announced like  " Army of Darkness " , with some sort of golden shine . Literally one of the coolest movies , i.m.o. at the time . Switching channels , no way !
*irony off*

It makes part of the Evil Dead Trilogy ( and no , no , no  you don ´t want to count that fourth part called -which is really EVIL, a bad ass travel to nonsense itself - in )

I have been trying to find out the name of a cartoon or maybe it was an anime.

I vaguely remember small details on it such as a flying creature that had no legs, it was a torso with a head and skinny arms and had wings. It was yellow or orange and it kept observing the main characters at a distance and talking to itself.

And during some episodes, I think it was at the end or before ads would play on TV, but during these moments there'd by some kind of humanoid creature inside of a pod filled with yellow liquid and had tubes coming out of its body. The scene would focus on it for a bit before things would fade to black or go to the next scene.

I'm sorry I have so little to remember but this cartoon stuck in my head ever since really early childhood. Do any of these details sound familiar to anybody?

This was either 80's or 90's film about going undercover in some notorious biker gang. The only thing I remember is? The lead character (maybe a cop) gets his biker jacket urinated on by his mentor. The cop is like WTF, why you piss all over my jacket for? The mentor says something like, you will have to smell like them if you want to blend in and not stand out.

Any help thanks.

I just checked the trailer out on YouTube and I'm not 100% sure cos I would of thought I would remember Lance henriksen since I was big on Aliens back then. I will have to check this film out, to see if it is the same film as you said. If that film "Stone Cold" has that scene I described earlier about getting his jacked pissed on? Then it is probably the same film. I'm just shocked I forgot Lance was in it. However if that scene is not in this film then it must of been a different film.

Ok here's one for you "older" folks:

All I can remember is it was set in some kind of ancient church or castle

The two scenes I remember clearly was a dead dog found in a tree and a guy who had been found crushed behind an ancient door.

It's an old 70s movie I think.

-A movie set mostly or entirely in a trailer park. Wasn't drama, comedy or horror. More one of those regular movies. It was about the different relations between the inhabitants.
I'd guess it's an 80's or 90's movie.

-A horror I'd guess that features the dialogue "It hurts? Ofcourse it hurts. It's supposed to hurt. It's supposed to hurt."
I'm pretty sure I heard I saw the movie. Heard it as an outro of a song later on and it's stuck with me ever since.

Anyone remember a game show where contestants were given a long sequence of numbers - they were able to take them home to memorize the best they could, come back on the show and recite as much of the sequence as possible?

It was Swiss made and I can't remember if it was in German or French. It was about a doctor who managed to get a job on a freighter bound for a colony so that she can see her sister. While she is on 'watch' and the rest of the crew is in hyper sleep she begins to think someone else might be awake...

Sounds similar to the Michael Moorcock novel "The Black Corridor", looking for adaptations might help?

Ok i saw this movie in the 90's as a kid. Possibly on a german channel (doesnt mean its a german movie). It must have been a big Alien rip off as all i can remember is our characters are on the highway during night, escaping and they find a cow on the road and something bursts out of the cow or just did before they found it.

Looking for a movie where the hero is handcuffed and being chased by bad guys. They send some dogs after him and the dogs run after him in the dark. We hear a struggle and then the dogs come running back out, their collars cuffed together with the handcuffs.

A fairly well known action movie, I think, but the name escapes me.

A-Team.

Looking for?

Older film black and white sci-fi film, probably made around the 1950's maybe set in england. has a scene were group of people that are in a room in the middle of nowhere maybe a building in the woods ect. Then these flying Brain things come smashing through the window and the people in the room are shooting at them. The brain creatures were stop motion if I remember correctly and look kind of creepy for a film made back then?

Can't remember much else.

A short film about 10 to 15minutes long that was on one of them cable channels in the UK back in the late 90's. Use to get repeated several times a week between shows at night. Anyhow, the short story was about this man who after a night out with friends is hungry and decides to finish the night off on his own at this random Indian restaurant. He sits down opposite this other man who appears to be very drunk and half a sleep with his head and arms resting on the table. The man who's hungry go's to make an order, only to find he is skint and can only afford a small poppadom. However Opposite him the other man who's drunk
and still has his head resting in his arms on the table, has this big Indian full meal Infront of him thats hardly been touched. The man who is hungry can't help but ask him if his eating it? and if not can have it? The drunk man who's half a sleep with his head still resting in his arms, sort of nods his head as to say ya he can have his meal. The hungry man thinks his hit the jackpot, and grabs his food and eats it all up with a big grin on his face, like it's the best free Indian meal he has ever had. After eating the drunken man's Indian meal, he says thanks and tells him it was a good tasty meal. The drunk man finally lifts his head up and says something on the lines of ya it was good I've already eat it once. In horror the man who just eating his meal see's the sickly spew staines running down his shirt and suddenly realises his been eating sick.

Lol would love to see that short again.

Remember a quote but can't remember the movie.

One guy says to another "That's a promise. From me, to you."
And later on the other guy hears that line again in his mind. "From me, to you. From me, to you..."

The Hard Way with James Woods and Michael J. Fox?

Fun film. Stephen Lang is excellent as the psycho villain.

[Found it — Galaxy of Terror]
Need help with a Horror film I watched as kid, probably around 1985-1992 at the most, the film itself could be from the 70s, early 80s.
There were some armed guys, maybe military or just explorers... they were crawling through narrow tunnels inside a strange building, like a pyramid, and they were getting killed.
The only clear scene I remember is one of the men getting killed by vines/strings. They came out of the floor as he was crawling and tied around him, cutting through his skin.

The Keep (1981)?

Haven't seen it myself but it kinda sounds like it.

Oh wow, thanks, it really looks like it is the one. A Roger Corman's film and a shameless Alien rip-off on top of that, it will be a great watch.

I did see the poster that looks like a totally different movie.

Yeah, none of that shit happens in the movie

It's not in any way a good film, but it is a fun film if low-budget horror exploitation is your thing.

I watched it tonight and there was an actual alien rape, although the scenery and the creatures are different from those in the poster.

James Cameron's directing career got started because he got maggots to move in that movie.

Also what the f**k happens to Robert Englund's character?

It's not really my thing but sometimes I can appreciate the effort, the story or certain elements.
In this case: I read they used the pyramid design from the original Alien script.

Tbf it's not mine either, but it's definitely one of the better low-budget sci-fi horrors I've seen. It's schlocky as hell, but it is quite entertaining.

Plus, you know, a woman gets raped by a giant space maggot.

The Creature Below (2016) is a decent English horror made for  about  £12,000.
Probably the best movie with the lowest budget I've seen so far.

Also has faulty posters that give the impression of a totally different movie.

Probably a bit of a long shot this one, but back when I was a kid I remember seeing a movie on TV that totally ripped off the score from the Lethal Weapon movies. It definitely wasn't one of the Lethal Weapons, but it had an almost identical soundtrack, with the distinctive combination of electric guitar and saxophone. Beyond that I really can't remember anything about it, other than it was probably an action thriller.

At first, I was thinking of the 1988 film 'Deadly Pursuit' (AKA Shoot to kill) based on the saxophone in the soundtrack but I could be completely wrong.

Is there nothing else you can recall about the film at all?

Afraid not. The only memory I have is of the score being such a blatant ripoff of what Eric Clapton and David Sanbourne did in Lethal Weapon.

I remember seeing a movie many years ago on TV. It involved a family man who gets contacted by an assassin who tells him he's been hired by his own wife to kill him. Soon the two men meet, but the hitman is killed by persons unknown before he can divulge any further information. Subsequently the family man's wife is kidnapped and murdered. It eventually transpires that it's the work of a police detective with a grudge against the man for an accident wherein his son was crippled some years before. Can anyone help me with the title?
