Nice!
Omega, have you heard of Story of the Year? If you like Cryoshell and Three Days Grace, you may like them as well. Some good songs to start off with would be Until the Day I Die, Terrified, and Anthem of Our Dying Day.

Not what I expected, infact, vastly superior to their previous albums. Slayer crashed into Arch Enemy via Disturbed. Me gusta.

I'm not too fond of AC/DC, actually. They have a few songs that I like, but by and large, the sound just isn't for me.
Hmm, the ones I've been listening to, I've really liked. Back in Black, Thunderstruck, For Those About to Rock, and a few others.
Oh, I'm also wandering around youtube listening to some Black Keys. Good stuff.
Black Keys. f**k yea. Great band.
And you gotta listen to Floyd, man. You gotta.
Actually listened to Wall, I think it was called, about a half hour ago.
Recommend me Floyd some songs :)
Floyd is more about the album than the song.
Since you've already listened to The Wall (which happens to be my favourite album of all time), I'd recommend Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here.
Animals is great as well.
Thanks for the tip. Gonna have to hunt some of it don't, listen and see if I like it :)

The best songs are "double cross" and "all eyes". If you were in hell, the song "all eyes" is probably what you'd hear.

Right now, I'm thinking
These Days. But I really love the whole album. Might try to pick up a few more of theirs, if I can get them for cheap :)
Glad to see you listened to that, Nightmare. You should check out they're earlier stuff, too. It's much more bluesy.
Personally, my favourite track off of Brothers is Unknown Brother.
Zola Jesus - Stridulum II. Incredible. It's been a while since ive been blown away like this.

I never understood the point of stuff like Cannibal Corpse. It seems so infantile and shock for the sake of shock.
But I just had a read of their wiki page, and they say it's just the musical equivalent of a horror film - which I can understand.

The wiki page pretty much has it straight. Although its not even the horror film equivalent. More like gore porn/snuff film equivalent.
The music is more important than the lyrics with CC, for sure. The songwriting on the new album is excellent

Well its the 1980s, artists could still play their instruments and people had a longer attention span than the talent show generation of the 00s do haha.
I just listened to Houses of the Holy and Physical graffitti by LED ZEPPELIN. Great stuff.

Wonderful. Simply wonderful. All that I was hoping it would be. 45 minutes of fantastic music, punchy, with a strong beat, danceable and beautiful. Full of melodies and rhythms at once unique yet somehow familiar.
This was my most anticipated album in quite sometime, and damnit, it lived up to the hype.
Depeche Mode - The Remixes (3 disc set)
Some songs from these CDs sound 10x better than modern technology produced music... DM are still far ahead of their time!

New Order - Low Life album
The most upbeat album they did, The Perfect Kiss being a stapled classic!
New Order- Republic album
It has been stated this album was focused on USA charts, so they changed their sound but keep the basics. My goodness, it is wonderful, pure New Order with A LOT of keyboards and great lyrics. This CD has been in the car for about a week straight now and I just don't see any reason to change it (unless it's Tears For Fears friday ;D )

9/10 My personal favorite album of TAPP, the cover/back cover are very artsy in a modern way.
Difficult to judge the best AP Project album. I think every album has the odd track or two that let it down. I listened to all of them incessantly except perhaps Vulture Culture and Gaudi about 20 odd years ago, and recently started listening to some of them again. Eye In The Sky is otherwise really solid but let down by Gemini and Silence & I, and Step by Step is neither here nor there. The Eagle Will Rise Again is kinda meh on Pyramid. There's some good stuff on Eve, but I find it to be pretty sexist. For mine, their best albums are Turn Of A Friendly Card (if only for the guitar solo on Nothing Left to Lose) or Ammonia Avenue.
And as for DG - About Face. His first album showed how much he needed Roger's help, and On An Island was more mature, but needed some more grunt here and there. More tracks like Take A Breath.

Turn... is a great album from beginning to end. I've had weeks where the CD never left the car's CD player. Still have yet to hear Ammonia Avenue, so I will listen to that one today!
You are spot on about DG too. After hearing the self-titled again it is apparent he needed more help in the songs.

Pet Shop Boys - Electric (2013)
An album full of energy, dance and beats being produced by Stuart Price! PSB show they still got it in today's music world, abolishing all boundaries and Chris Lowe shows off his best skills while keeping it in his talented fashion. Neil Tennant's voice has a distorted sound throughout most the album, but is a welcome change (even though his normal singing is top notch). Highlights include Axis, Inside a Dream, Bolshy and my favorite track, Fluorescent. Maybe one day I will see them in concert (if they make it around besides NYC and Hollyweird).
10/10 for the 9 tracks

Pet Shop Boys - Bilingual
I have listened to many other PSB albums lately, but decided to review this one. Starts off with
Discoteca, a disco dance themed gem that leads into
Single (
Bilingual), a drum based track with a nice, different keyboard tossed here and there. Next up is a true PSB underrated classic called
Metamorphosis. Some popular singles after that include
Se A Vida E and the future of equality's hope in
A Red Letter Day. After that comes
Up Against It with Johnny Marr as a guest guitarist/vocalist (background), definitely my favorite track from the album. The album concludes with
The Survivors,
Before (great track),
To Step Aside and Saturday Night Fever (disco heavy). One B-Side that I really enjoy listening to is
The Boy Who Couldn't Keep His Clothes On (from dancing all night long) from the
Format album, another dance floor beat filled song with PSB humorous lyrics that only Neil could ever pull off. Overall it is a very good album, but far from what they could (and did) produce in later times.

My favorite and regarded by many PSB fanatics as their greatest album. Recorded in Munich, Neil and Chris weave their finest musicial webs of genius in this 10 track album. Starting off with their landmark track,
Being Boring. A perfect beginning to the album. The next track,
This Must Be The Place I've Waited Years To Leave. , features Johnny Marr on guitar and Chris's beats accompany it in fantastic ability. Used to be my favorite PSB song, but is in the front five now. Next up is the sedimental
To Face The Truth. This one has been a builder for me; I used to skip it, now I find myself really enjoying it. Following is
How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously? . A ballad of beats, synth, vocals and even a rarely seen guitar solo. Just great in every way. Next up is the fan favorite
Only The Wind. A slower, milder song that also gets better with age.
My October Symphony. follows that, another just great song. Then we have
So Hard. , a song that is also a builder nowadays. A peaceful track,
Nervously. , is next. A song that just makes you think back to all those awkward and scary moments in relationships. Building up the tension after that is
The End Of The World. Chris Lowe seems to know just when to place those beats in the synths' pauses, I have no idea how he does it. To finish off the album is another fan favorite,
Jealousy. Overall this album still withstands time for the past 24 years and will for many more to come. To those who have not listened to Pet Shop Boys, I highly recommend this album before any others. Behaviour is not just a blissful music experience, it has the power to change lives imo.

2014 Remaster edition
Usually when a classic/timeless album gets remastered, it will either impress greatly or make you throw it against the wall. Never inbetween. This 2014 remaster by Stephen Wilson, is the single greatest remastered album I have ever heard. It seems to keep the original 1985 sound while maintaining a "current" feel. The vocals are barely remastered, just the way it should be. The guitars, drums and synths are smoothly polished up but NOT enhanced or put ahead of the vocals like so many remaster failures. As a diehard TFF fanatic, I could go thru every track, but I will not. Instead, I ask you to go out (or online), pick up a copy of the single disk, the two disk edition or like me, the deluxe 6 disk box set. I am still in awe of what I just listened to. Hopefully you will too.
A true 10/10 for this remastered edition classic album
Can't wait for the next 5 disks! ;D

Pet Shop Boys - Introspective (1988)
This album takes on a new direction for PSB back in the later 80s. While the previous albums were mainly electronic pop, Chris Lowe takes his keyboards and hits the dance floor for an all-nighter while Neil Tennant takes a few drinks of sarcasm and sings out some of his most witty lyrics yet. Containing 6 tracks, each clocks in at nearly 7 minutes or more each. Left To My Own Devices (original version) begins the album with a sympanthonic tone and then the beats kick in. A great song, followed by a straight forward, cold dance sensatiton I Want A Dog. This maybe my new favorite PSB track, absolute dance perfection. Domino Dancing arrives next, another great dance song. I'm Not Scared is next, yet another near perfection dance song. The album continues with the classic PSB track Always On My Mind/In My House. Finally the album concludes with It's Alright; a fantastic finish to an unbelievable album. While I do not suggest to start your PSB collection with this album (Behaviour and Actually are the ones I suggest for that), it is an album that signals a new beginning of the timeless band's limitless electronic talent. After a day of constant listening, it did not get old at any points and had me coming back for more. Some diehard PSBers have this as their favorite album.

AFI - Burials
Love their new(er) sound! Has a The Cure-Iron Maiden-AFI blend of sound. Also, every track has a different sound and feel. Very refreshing. Davey reaches for a wider range of vocals instead of the chorus-y tunes from December Underground. Still have not listened to Crash Love (previous album before Burials), but read that I am not missing anything. Jade's guitar riffs are very catchy and varied. Hunter's bass work is much more in front too. Drums by Paget are great as always. Highlights include I Hope You Suffer, 17 Crimes (classic yet new AFI), The Conductor, Rewind (possibly my favorite track), Wild, Greater Than 84.

Such a shame he never sorted his problems out before it was too late. When you consider he wrote or co-wrote all but three or four of the songs Thin Lizzy
ever did, he really was a musical genius.

I've heard a few of the songs, I'm just filling in some of the gaps in my Metallica CD selection. It really is true that you can't hear the bass. Poor Newsted.
Yeah, the mix on that album sucks, which is a big shame.

Yeah, the only Load/Reload songs I've heard are on that album... and maybe some on Guitar Hero Metallica, but it's been years since I popped that one in the old PS2.
If y band ever covers any Metallica songs, they would be off Load/Reload as they would probably fit my band more.
Listening to Motorhead : Aftershock, in tribute to the late great Ian "LEMMY" Kilmeister, who passed away yesterday at the age of 70. A tragic loss to Rock and Roll
I did get to see Motorhead in concert in 2003, they were first. Then Dio second. Finally Iron Maiden third. Not gonna top that lineup anytime soon. :(
Listened to Alternative by Pet Shop Boys (collection of B-sides from 1984-1994). AWESOME!
David Bowie - Let's Dance (3X in a row): 9/10
David Bowie - Hunky Dory: 9.5/10
The Cure - Show. Best lineup ever of the band.
Tyketto : Dig In Deep
The Script : Science and Faith
Been listening to Bowie all week. From the 60s to the present. The 70s stuff is definitely my favorite stuff. "The Man Who Sold The World" album has been spinning for days now. R.I.P. Davy "David Bowie" Jones.

This probably is their most, dare I say, "mainstream" sounding album. However, I consider it their finest. Disintegration of course is a cult classic, but this album has a general happy feel that will pull you up when you are sinking. I certainly could go over every track, but I'll condense it to my favs and highlights. The first track, Open, is still my favorite beginning track by the band, total A+ work. The next track, High, is a slower relaxed song that certainly has that, um, high feeling. Track 6 is without a doubt my absolute favorite Cure song; Doing The Unstuck. Possibly one of my favorite 20 songs of all time. Directly following is the mainstream classic, Friday I'm In Love. Best one-two tracks ever? Nah, but def. up there. Overall, I can not say enough great things about this album. A MUST listen for all music lovers out there.
an easy 10/10
Mainly been listening to my Fan Versions of albums and acts really:
1, Guns n Roses - Use Your Illusion (Edited from the two albums into one concise album)
2, Iron Maiden - Fear for the Dying (No Prayer for the Dying and Fear of the Dark edited into one single album)
3, Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell III - Bad for Good (My version using only Steinman written tracks from Bat III and other albums and compilations from preceding years)
4. Queensryche - Millenial Tribe (Q2K and Tribe edited down into a single album, including Justified from the Sign of the Times Best of, as that was a Tribe leftover)
5. Paramore - Paramore (Edited Version of the album, but with Monster added)
6. Meat Loaf - Bad for Good (All Meat Loaf sung versions of the songs that were on the Steinman album, including a Live version of Dance in My Pants from 1987 and the Steinman sung version of Stark Raving Love as Meat Loaf never sand that song)
AFI - self titled (The Blood Album)
After almost a four break, AFI return with their new album, The Blood Album (or self titled). Some typical fans are bashing it already, but MANY are praising it, I also shall endorse it. Jade produced the album, so there are almost no exceeding music or vocals, they are at a 50/50 sound mix, love it. As for the music, well, let's just say I am jumping for joy inside! A perfect blending of all of their previous five albums (from The Art Of Drowning to Burials), but with a newer sound and mainly focusing on Sing The Sorrow days. Davey is right on with the vocals, Jade has a new level of solos and blending of guitars, Hunter is as great as ever on bass and the drums are also great as ever. One of the songs sounds exactly like a tribute to The Cure, but I will not spoil it past that. Needless to say, this could very well be AFI's crowning effort and I highly recommend it! Shame they are not coming to Pittsburgh or else I would certainly see them...
10/10
Black Sabbath - Reunion
I thought i'd listen to this after being at the final gig. from Both discs all but four tracks were played in the Final set (Two of those being the studio tracks, Psycho Man and Selling My Soul lol)
Iron Maiden - Best of The Beast Volume 2
Just a two disc thing i put together for a friend, done in the style of the original Best of the Beast Greatest Hits from 1997. So its essentially tracks from Virtual XI to The Book of Souls
Assemblage 23 - Endure.
I waited for a year and a half to be released. At first, the only song I like was track 4 - Salt the Earth. But later some time later, I kicked back, played the entire album, made a few lyric songs from that album. Good stuff.
L.A.M.F. by Johnny Thunder and the Heartbreakers
After seeing the breaks in posts, I realize that I listen to countless albums and never seem to recognize that "Hey, I just listened to 10+ albums this week!" Anyhows...
Tears For Fears - Songs from the Big Chair 11/10
Tears For Fears - The Seeds of Love 10/10 (my favorite tff album, absolute masterpiece)
Madonna - Vogue miniCD 8/10

Finally, the review. The return of the Ukrainian Pagan Black Metal legend after eight years. Varggoth's writing has taken a more natural and mythical route on this album. The tone is very folky, native, and extremely heavy. The vocals varied from clean to beyond angry. The album overall is a delight to the ears. I could go over every track in extreme detail, but I don't think there is a need to. I will mention the departure of Saturious is noticeable, but damn, NM fails to disappoint yet again. The box edition's bonus items are an exclusive treat, especially the cards autographed by band members! 10/10
Summoning - Minas Morgul 11/10
Summoning - Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame 11/10 (I should mention Summoning is my most treasured band, aside from Genesis and Tears For Fears. Their music is just magical.)
Menhir- Ziuwari 9/10
Equilibrium - Sagas 7.5/10
Metallica-Master of Puppets
Summoning - Dol Guldur 12/10
Summoning - Nightshade Forests 12.1/10

I love me some Summoning.
Nightmare Logic by Power Trip.
Even though I don't listen to Black Metal anymore, Summoning will ALWAYS be one of my absolute favorite bands ever. My Cd/LP/merch collection certainly proves it
Finished listening to Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion. Easily my favorite DM album, but not their best.
Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime
With the state of American politics at the moment, i couldnt help but think of this album
Def Leppard - Slang (Limited Edition 2 Disc version)
Bruce Dickinson - Tattooed Millionaire (2 Disc Remastered Version)
Queensryche - Empire
George Michael - Faith
One of the greatest solo debut albums ever. No other words needed.
Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime II
You can so tell that only Tate, Stone and session players do this album, even with some great songs.
Bon Jovi - Lost Highway
Queensryche - Mindcrime at the Moore
The Mindcrime II songs sound so much better with the actual band playing them. Rockenfield's drums are so distinctive. Its a much better whole Live
Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (Mono version, 2007 remaster edition)
Since this was one of my fallen friend's favorite albums, I had to give it a spin on what would have been his 33rd birthday. The Piper has been one of my top 3 Pink Floyd albums, and I just love it from start to finish. LOTS and LOTS of hazy, smoke filled memories with this one  , so it also touches my heart even more. The mono version is very spacey and echo filled, making this hallucinating album even more bizarre and at points, insane. I can not recommend this album enough, especially if you had some, um, mind altering substances. Those days are over for me, but the music is a trip all in its own. My friends favorite song was The Gnome btw. Mine is probably Bike or Astronomy Domine.
11/10
Rush - Signals
I have to start by saying I am one of the extremely few people who love the keyboard heavy era of Rush. That being said, the opening track, Subdivisions, is my all time favorite Rush song, and is a great great beginning track. Some of the tracks are not very inspiring, but New World Man and the ending track are absolute classics in my eyes.
7/10
I've never really got into early Floyd. It's their later stuff that does it for me.
Finally got round to listening to the original Welcome to my Nightmare by Alice Cooper. Its a great album and much more in vein of the disconnect of some dreams than the sequel. Vincent Price just rules in his appearance
also
Technical Ecstacy by Black Sabbath. Now while this isn't classic Sabbath, its still a good album. Some great songs here and they are all on top of their game, just trying a few different things. Bill Ward's got a good voice as well
"Dirty Women" is awesome (apart from the fact it fails to make the most of that incredible riff in its middle section).
True, it is a great way to close the album. Sometimes that happens I guess

Ironically, early Pink Floyd (up to Meddle) is my personal favorite era, however, all eras are great in their own ways. Today's playlist included:
Tears For Fears - Greatest Hits 83-92 10/10
Pink Floyd - Relics
A collection of the singles and Bsides from The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, with a couple of new tracks too. Another great psychedelic treat!
9/10
Pink Floyd - A Saucerful Of Secrets
The first album post Syd Barrett and the introduction of David Gilmour. The album is a major step forward overall, the Gilmour presence is really noted. Another trip-tastic album, with the final track being a nodding farewell by Syd Barrett.
10/10
I think I am just going to go thru the discography now, why not eh?
I'd add 'Obscured by Cloud' to that list of early Pink Floyd but it certainly marks a turn around for their work. More or less anything prior to 'Dark Side of the Moon' has great appeal - everything after that just doesn't interest me.
I really enjoy the heady spaced out psychedelia of their late '60s / early '70s.
Lately I've been giving 'The Madcap Laughs' a few rounds in the stereo. Barrett was such an amazing talent and loopier than a bowl of Singapore noodles; with both qualities clearly present - and balanced - in this album of recordings. It's a series of one crazed childlike recording after another. Almost like 'Play School' on an acid trip.
-Windebieste.
I'm HTML-stupid, so in lieu of a picture, I'll just say that I listened to the Mothman Prophesies Soundtrack, which is as spooky and awesome as the movie it's derived from.

That reminds me, I need to open my DVD of La Vallee (soundtrack of Obscured By Cloud)! I also have The More movie, need to watch that again too. Syd's solo work is just nuts, glad he decided to continue for a few albums after PF.
Rush - Grace Under Pressure
No mainstream blockbusters, but many hidden gems, esp. Kid Gloves.
7/10
Pink Floyd - Ummagumma (studio album)
Talk about experimental, PF perfects it here. Includes the gem Grandchester Meadows and the one track everyone talks about simply by reading its title:
Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In a Cave and Grooving With A Pict
By far my favorite track is The Narrow Way Parts I and II, Gilmour's guitar expertise on full magnificent display in Part I and Richard Wright's eerie yet enticing possessions of his keyboards in Part II. I remember reading that the band really didn't like the album and considered it a disaster, but this fan adores it.
10/10
'Ummagumma' is a great double album. 'The Narrow Way' is definitely a great piece. Well, a great piece in several pieces. :)
I named one of my old AvP2 maps after it.
-Windebieste.
I view Dark Side through The Wall as Pink Floyd's best work all around, with The Final Cut a lesser but still pretty good coda. Psychedelia is a tough sell for me in general, so I've never really gotten into their early stuff.

I will say that era was definitely their most appealing and talented era, before Roger and David got public with their personal issues with each other and things got ugly. TDSOTM is and always will be one of the greatest albums ever recorded, and for me that was their beginning of the end. The Wall is, well, great of course, but it just gets a tad boring at times. Anyways...
Pink Floyd - Ummagumma (Live Album)
I have reached my all time favorite Pink Floyd album. Recorded in 1969 at Grandchester, this album just blows me away every time I listen to it. This album shows the extreme progression of David Gilmour as the lead guitarist and the band's ability to blend together perfectly in harmony. Every track is an extension of the original version, so there are bonus riffs, solos, and melodies (or in some spots, bizarre melodies). Worthy of a track by track breakdown...
1. Astronomy Domine - Credit given to Syd for writing, this live version is just absolutely perfect. The additional tweeks and keyboards make this one heck of a ride.
2. Careful With That Axe, Eugene - Slower in tempo than the original version, the additional parts and Roger screaming give it a rising comparable to the first vibes of an acid frenzy.
3. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun - Again, the band slows the tempo just a tad and lets atmosphere take over. Gilmour's extra sections and solos make this track unreal to listen to.
4. A Saucerful Of Secrets - An instrumental track worthy of the highest praise. Every instrument is magnified by their player's talents and timing, especially Richard Wright's keyboards and Gilmour's otherworldly petals.
If I had to listen to one album before I died, it would probably be this one. While Genesis (the Gabriel era) will always be my favorite band, both talent wise and overall, nothing I have ever heard will replace this album. Pure Psychodelic Perfection by the masters of psychedelic rock. Listen to this immediately if you have never done so.
Infinity/10
I mentioned it before that I'm a complete freak and consider The Division Bell to be my favourite Floyd album
I know I've always been in the extreme minority with that, but to me (and not just saying this to justify my opinion :P) Floyd are one of those bands where it doesn't matter which era you like most - they were just incredible and iconic throughout.
The Division Bell is a great album, Momentary Lapse Of Reason is as well. Also agree with your any era comment, Pink Floyd have something for everyone! Got a tad delayed, so...
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother
For me, this is the baby steps to their signature sound and movements. The title track is possibly the best on the album, with all parts combining oh so well. Summer 69 was my brother's favorite track, which was saying a lot since he didn't listen to Floyd
While I think of it, so many Richard Wright tracks are so awesome (such as Summer 69), his voice is so calming and music so calm and soothing. The final track, Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast, ironically got listened to early morning on the way to school, and I can't figure out how a band can make bacon frying, water dripping, and juice pouring into rhythms!?! I will also mention the cover of the album is one of my absolute favorites of all genres. So simple and awesome altogether.
11/10
Pink Floyd - Music from the film 'More'
A mix of earlier album tracks with new ones for the film, all of which are fantastic. Cymbaline, A Spanish Piece, Dramatic Theme, and Green is the colour are the best highlights of the album.
10/10
Pink Floyd - Obscured By Clouds (music from the film 'La Vallée')
All new tracks for this film, and boy are they grand. From start to finish it is a hidden masterpiece, especially free four, when you're in, wots... uh the deal, and absolutely curtains are must listens. I need to watch the film, even if there are m/f sex scenes.
11/10
Pink Floyd - Meddle
And we have reached the point where I believe the band not only reached that specific sound they were searching for, but their end of the psychedelic era as well. The iconic beginning track, One Of These Days, is a sure way of the band saying "we are here, we are gonna make music, and we are going to blow your mind while doing so!". Possibly their greatest opening track has everything one could ask for, including only one vocal line: One of these days, I'm gonna chop you into little pieces. The next four tracks go into different feels, especially the hilarious track 'Seamus'. The album concludes with their finest moment (imo), Echoes. This 20+ minute track has me awe inspired every time I listen to it, with some of the most epic and I mean EPIC guitar solos by David Gilmour and eerie moments of what seems like whales communicating by Richard Wright and Gilmour. Goodness golly gee, this album is uncomparable..
12/10
Genesis - Duke
Genesis - Calling All Stations
The album and all 8 of the b-sides/unreleased tracks. There are some brilliant songs here that deserve more love like There Must Be Some Other Way, The Dividing Line, One Mans Fool and Nowhere Else To Turn. Still annoys me that Rutherford decided he didnt want to do another one while, Wilson and Banks were all for it.
Calling All Stations - Fan Version
A alternate version i created using all the tracks, where i made what i feel is a more complete album
Quote from: FiorinaFury161 on Sep 09, 2017, 01:22:42 AMPink Floyd - Obscured By Clouds (music from the film 'La Vallée')
I completely ignored that one for years because no one ever talks about it, and was really pleasantly surprised when I finally got it. I love "The Gold, it's in the..." I always enjoy it when Floyd just genuinely rock out.
4 months between posts?!?! Well, here are some of this previous week's albums:
Rush - Power Windows
A personal favorite, still love the keyboards era Rush. Big Money used to be my fav Rush track, some real underheard ones here.
8.5/10
Weezer - The Blue Album
Awesome. Just awesome. Top 10 album from the 90s decade. After Pinkerton, everything went south, just not in a hurry fortunately.
10/10
Rhapsody - Symphony of Enchanted Lands Part II
Back when the band was great. Truly a movie without the pictures, shame everything went bonkers for them after this album.
10/10
Pet Shop Boys - Electric
PSB are a little off in this album, but always on cue. Certainly not a good starting point, but still good. The final track, Vocal, may be their best newer closing tracks, and it was just nuts seeing them perform it in person at Madison Square Garden last year.
7/10
Oasis - What's the Story? (Morning Glory)
This album is simply a must own for everyone. Possibly the greatest album from the 90s, imo. Just wow.

There are many reasons why Genesis are my favorite overall band... this album could be the number one or two reason. Many of the band members were going thru interesting points in their personal lives, especially Peter Gabriel, when they were writing and recording this double album. PG announced he would be leaving the band, and Phil jokingly said "Well, we will just become an instrumental band (laughs)." It is a concept album about a juvenile Puerto Rican youth named "Rael", and his insane adventure in (then) 1970s NYC underworld. Some people describe this album as the monumental "Acid Rock" album
Spoiler
And I can confirm this after tripping on it :o
and it is surprisingly looked oddly at by the band years later. When the tour for The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway began, the band played the entire album every night (they were exhausted when it concluded) and did not know what to expect from the fans coming in expecting to hear classics from Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound, etc. The band was shocked to learn everyone really enjoyed it and did not mind missing the classics. After playing the album, the band would end the concert with inter-tying tracks of The Musical Box and Watcher Of The Skies. While no full concert footage exists, many hardcore fans created what they could with bits and pieces of footage that was recorded.
Much like the synchronization of Pink Floyd's Darkside of the Moon with The Wizard of Oz, someone mixed TLLDOB with Disney's animated classic Alice In Wonderland and it works too. My friend burned me a copy on DVD and I am very glad he did, as it was taken down a few months later and has never returned since.
So, I certainly could go over every track (23 overall), but I will not. All I can say is this album changed my life forever and holds a special place in my musical heart. If the band could have ended Peter's time in the band perfectly, it is this album. Simply mind blowing music by the band and hauntingly real lyric (and flute solos) by PG. Classic tracks like The Carpet Crawlers, The Lamia, The Colony of the Slippermen, Counting Out Time,
it. and so many more. When I saw Steve Hackett (the guitarist) live in 2010, he shockingly played my favorite song (posted below) and I was in bliss to hear it live. I was literally feet away from him too in the first row. While I highly doubt the band will ever tour again, to hear what I could live with SH and the Canadian cover band The Musical Box (the only authorized band by Genesis to recreate their 70s era concerts) I will always treasure.

Yep. Here it is. IMO, the greatest album of Progressive Rock ever. Worthy of a track by track breakdown? You bet.
Dancing With The Moonlit Knight - Holy shit, this is amazing in every sense of the word. Outstanding, euphoric, everything.
I Know What I Like - Only PG can write lyrics about a lawnmower and a lazy guy and make it sound fantastic.
Firth Of Fifth - Some of the greatest keyboards and guitar solos I have ever heard all bundled into one song.
More Fool Me - Who knew what was to come with that drummer taking the lead vocals...
The Battle Of Epping Forest - Now here is a quite interesting song. Tony Banks has said he never really cared for this song, but the story and music are great.
After The Ordeal - Pretty much a complete Steve Hackett solo as a song. Bliss.
The Cinema Show - How can a band round out a perfect, unbelievable, unforgettable album? By creating the most epic song ever. The final four minutes of this are just insane to think one person is on keyboards (Banks). Why aren't you listening to this album yet?!?!
Aisle Of Plenty - Again, Banks has said he doesn't care for this song and thought of it as filler. Blending into TCS, we are revisited by hints of Dancing With.. to complete the album. Wow.
As you can tell, I adore and treasure this album. Highly likely this music is what you hear in heaven.

Another Genesis album worthy of a track by track breakdown, but I will sum it up in one sentence:
From the beginning chords of Watcher Of The Skies to the final moments of Suppers Ready, it is a euphoric experience comparable to morphine.
Legendary Prog Rock classic in its finest moments.

Genesis lost Anthony Phillips on guitar and picked up some guy named Steve Hackett. Oh, they also replaced the drummer with some homeless looking guy named Phil Collins. Think it turned out okay. ;)
Although a tad uninspiring, but they all so young and were just finding their signature traits. The Musicial Box and The Fountain of Salmacis are two of my top 8 Genesis songs, which are present here.

Their unofficial debut album, is a heavily underrated piece of art. Extremely mellow and folky, it has an atmosphere they were never able to repeat, which is ok. White Mountain, Looking For Someone, and The Knife are great listens, especially during sad times. Interesting to think how the direction of the band's sound would have been if Anthony Phillips stayed in the band...

A revisit to my Pagan Black Metal days. Kinda sounds like they had Summoning - Lugburz on their mind when recording, as it sounds like Lugburz Part II. Which certainly is a good thing! Good stuff from Germany.

Foxtrot is really where they came into their own.
But don't forget the From Genesis to Revelation album. which is technically the debut
The Eternal from Sonic Youth
Sigur Rós - Heima
@ Whiskey: FGTR is their debut, but many unknownst people think Trespass is their first true Genesis album (even tho it isn't :P )

Their first live album, and dayumm it is great. Great recording and mixing (especially for 1973), shame we didn't get Suppers Ready bc the cover shows Peter in the Magog costume, but that's ok.
Spoiler
Rumor has it some original copies from Belgium DO have the track...???
Absolutely fantastic in every way, even further listening proof Genesis is my favorite band of all time.

People just want to forget about Jonathan King lol

Finally got a chance to relax driving in the mountains with this album blaring. I was kinda expecting to hear "Old Mornings Dawn" Part II, but I was wrong! This album takes a much more atmospheric, dark approach (as if that's even possible with Summoning :P ) and it blew me away! This may be their best album since LMHSYF, fantastic work, Protector and Silenius! The bonus two track album from the box set is also ace, the final track being an instrumental masterpiece. Summoning does it again, only this time, its truly unforgettable on every track.
11+/10
Really dope hip hop record. Came out a few years back but if your into lyricism about conspiracies and topics about space travel, early civilizations etc. Then check it out. Gore Elohim - Electric Lucifer.
We All Bleed - by Crossfade
Starts off a bit old school crossfade, but it's just got everything and keeps getting better as you go, especially after "Dear Cocaine", which seemed like the weakest tune. Overall a stellar album.
Listened to it with the headphones on and the movie audio turned all the way down while watching Covenant and I actually really enjoyed it. Particularly the song "lay me down". Just felt perfect for this movie.
I do this with some movies. Whenever I watch the first Underworld movie I'll just loop Theory of Deadman's self titled album. Really gives the movie some extra power. It's like being lost in a crow flick. A dark musical wasteland.

Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence
This is my favorite album by Lana Del Rey. Music filled with sadness.
I will cry while listening to these tracks. Music for my aching soul.
I'm so grateful for Lana's music.
October Rust - by Type O Negative. It's my favorite album and I get my username from one of the songs.
Been listening to a mix of Marillion, Meat Loaf and Foreigner this week
Old school today ;D
