Breaking!! Is it true??
I just heard as well.
It's on variety. It's real.
http://variety.com/2017/film/news/bill-paxton-dead-dies-1201996712/
"It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery. A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill's passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family's wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father."
RIP if true, and damn due to complications from surgery...
Game over man, Game over!!!
Genuinely one of my movie heroes growing up thanks to 'Aliens'.
Game over man, game over...and rest in peace :'(
Yes, I am afraid that it appears to be true.
Can't believe it.
I found out on Twitter that Bill Paxton passed away. A quick Google search showed he passed away on the 25th. Quite sad. :'(

No way... sad news.
RIP.
No way. I am absolutely gutted.
What a legend of a man.
RIP
Rest in peace, Bill :(
This is a shocking tragedy.
May he rest in peace!

Heartbroken.
When most of my classmates went nuts for Arnold, Rambo or Van Damme, Hicks and Hudson were my heroes.
My dad even had the "Game over, man!" sound bite for turning off his computer all through the nineties, before I even saw the movie.
I just saw him seemingly healthy on Training Day...so sad. Thoughts go out to his loved ones.
I hope heaven's cryo rooms have warmer floors for you good sir.
RIP
RIP
Damn.
I often have this song in my head that mentions Bill Paxton

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wtf?! No. That's terrible news....
RIP Bill. What a fine actor. Famously the only actor to have been killed by The Terminator, The Alien and The Predator.
Man this one really hurts. :'( So many classic roles. My favorite being Chet from Weird Science.
Ah f**k! Not Bill Paxton.... :'(
The only actor to be killed off in the Alien, Terminator and Predator film series'. Obviously, Hudson was the role I'll remember him most for, but also loved him as a sleazy car salesman in True Lies. 61 is no age at all, horrible news...
May he rest in peace, the guy was a great actor. There aren't many characters cooler than Hudson.
Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
Oh my God that's a blow. RIP friend.
Wow I'm gutted, wasn't expecting this at all.
I'm pissed off and I don't know why, furious even.
RIP Mr. Paxton, you were f*cking awesome...
I feel like part of my childhood just died.
Rest In Peace.
No way! Totally gutted. He will be missed.
Woke up and read this. I feel absolutely sick to my stomach
Very unexpected indeed. I wonder what he was having surgery for.
He was a great actor. Had some of the best lines from Aliens.
Terrible news. I was very fortunate to meet him last year at Comicpalooza in Texas for the 30th Anniversary of Aliens. Looking back, he was vibrant and sharp, not so different than the roles he played. Watching him reunite with Michael Biehn and watching them embrace, share stories and play catch up while I waited for an autograph (as they're booths were adjacent) was one of the coolest actors-in-real-life moments I have ever experienced.
May this be a solemn reminder to not shrug off time with loved ones or taked the things we have for granted. We never know when our time here is up, so make the most of it. Find your higher calling, never say never, and live like your loved.
Very sad news indeed, he will be missed. RIP
My gut just hurts now.
Childhood hero and the character I model my FPS gaming on.
I quote his lines daily.
This sucks.
Bishop should go.
Goddamnit. So young.
RIP im really really sad ):> i will miss u
...shocked...
sounds weird but im 29 and just now occured to me that death is a real thing as people i happend to know personaly or via media are passing away year by year people who i grew up with so to speak. cant really explain it a way not to make it sound weird but ...
may he rest in peace

Complications from heart surgery, I believe :-[
This is so much devastating, he was only 61! Back on 30 year Aliens anniversary he's been in a good shape and so enthusiastic, I enjoyed one of the most recent his performances in Edge of tomorrow. There was still so much in store for his acting career!
Just cannot believe it happened so all of a sudden, it's sad and unfair... R.I.P.
Really sad to hear... Like Henriksen, the guy's left behind a huge volume of work, both serious and comedic. It's difficult to imagine many other actors making a character like Hudson work.
A friend of mine observed, "He finally got out of that chickenshit outfit. :("
I like to think Bill would've laughed at that.
He was a great actor
Wow, very shocking and sad news. :(
I think I may need to rewatch Aliens in his honor.
R.I.P.
Really really sad news. I recommend everyone listen to this talk he did with Marc Maron earlier this month. seems like such a great dude!

Wow... :'(
Truly butt hurt about this one
Devastating news. What a loss. He was such a genuinely talented performer who was doing terrific work right up until his passing. Man, this breaks my heart. RIP

I'm deepen the great lost of an actor that who I have grown up with ... the first I seen Bill Paxton was from Aliens ( bunked off from college To higher the film from the video shop to watch )
Then I kept on seeing Bill in load more other films witch was great to see I'm in. What an age to lost Bill at 61 .... he still has so much to other!
My heart go out to he's Family friends and he's fans. Bill Paxton you are a great lost. RIP 😥

Im absolutely stunned. He was such a nice and really good guy, and so young! Jesus..
no effing way =( RIP Bill, see you on the other side.
This is really awful news. So sudden and unexpected as well.
No doubt many people will remember him for Hudson, but I'll always think of his equally amazing turn in (the equally Cameron-directed) True Lies. "Would a spy pee himself, huh?!"
Rest in piece.
DAMN!!!!! This sucks.
A great actor and a talented director!!
Game over, man. Game over. You were great. You will be missed. RIP :(
Man oh man.... I did NOT want or need to wake up to this news. Carrie Fisher, John Hurt, and now Bill Paxton. And it's only FREAKING FEBRUARY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeezus. Game over indeed. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
He was one of these non aging guys, as he always stayed true to his characters and the not so serious kind of grown up persona.
One of my favorite ALIENS actors.
I guess it was always easy to identify one self with his acts.
I hardly can imagine the heartbreak for his loved ones and all relatives left behind.
RIP Hudson.

this is depressing!
Oh my f**king god!!!!!
Is it check out time for all the good people???
I cant believe this... rest in peace childhood friend!
Ah this f**king sucks.
The amount of times I impersonated his "GAME OVER- MAN" line (ALIENS), "this guy is a few cans short of a 6 pack" (TERMINATOR) is too many to count.
So many great movies and so many great memories.
- TERMINATOR
- ALIENS
- PREDATOR 2
- TRUE LIES
- APOLLO 13
- TWISTER
- TITANIC
- U-571* (*under-rated WW2 Submarine film from director who would later do TERMINATOR-3)
Of course he'll always be known as HUDSON the "ultimate bad-ass". Never forget the birtday party when my Father painted a generic lead space marine figure (which looked like Hudson) with the looney toons eyes on his back as a Birthday cake decoration.
Someone fetch the man his slippers. :( RIP Bill
I came out of the cinema and my phone kept buzzing with messages about this. Completely unexpected and absolutely devastated. It was bad enough we lost John not long ago, now we lose Bill. He was only 61. :'(
I had the chance to meet him a couple of years back and he was wonderful. His booth was just so busy and he had a smile on his face the whole time. Such a gent.

Here are some lovely words from Charles -
QuoteI crossed paths with Bill Paxton a couple times over the years, with our most memorable encounter being the day I interviewed him for my documentary SUPERIOR FIREPOWER: MAKING ALIENS, which was followed by a roundtable cast commentary with Michael Biehn, Jenette Goldstein and Lance Henriksen. What I immediately noticed was his fierce protection of the other actors and an enormous sense of pride in their work as a tightly-knit ensemble. As the commentary got a little loose and boozy, he always tried to keep things respectful, only occasionally dipping into the more jocular tone of the others. Basically, on this day, he was the straight man. The exact opposite of his famously quotable character, Hudson. Even afterwards, he pulled me aside to make sure that I wouldn't embarrass anyone by including some of the more off-color commentary recorded that day. I was a little concerned that he was going to be just as formal during our on-camera interview, but fortunately, once he realized we were all there to do good work, he loosened up and shared some truly entertaining and detailed memories with me about not only his time on ALIENS, and working multiple times with Jim Cameron, but also before that, during his lean years as a struggling, hard-working filmmaker and actor.
When you look at his body of work, the range is pretty staggering. He made the no-budget music video for Barnes & Barnes' FISH HEADS, which was a staple for me as a kid, growing up during the era of Dr. Demento...but then he also appeared in the massive big budget box office phenomenon, TITANIC. And there's so much to enjoy between those two ridiculous extremes: ONE FALSE MOVE, A SIMPLE PLAN, FRAILTY, WEIRD SCIENCE, THE TERMINATOR, STREETS OF FIRE, NEAR DARK, PASS THE AMMO, TOMBSTONE and my most recent favorite of his, the highly underrated and terrific EDGE OF TOMORROW...just to name a few. There's so much more.
It really became clear to me last year that I'm of an age when so many pop culture icons and personalities I grew up with are going to start leaving us. But at the young age of 61, Bill Paxton has left us far too soon. Whether as the fool or the hero, the actor or the director, he had so much more good, fun, crazy, edgy, serious work to do.
This is the kind of shit that makes me leery of surgery.
Still, sad to lose Paxton. He was the best part of Agents of Shield when he was in it.
WTF!?
Wow Corporal Hicks you must have some very important text messages in combo with "wife is in delivery room" , "little joey just got 400 points on angry birds" , "such and such actor has past", "rrsp due for contribution" ,, "dog just layed quiet the poop".
Sad news, I know what I'm watching tonight
Quote"I've been reeling from this for the past half hour, trying to wrap my mind and heart around it. Bill leaves such a void. He and I were close friends for 36 years since we met on the set of a Roger Corman ultra-low budget movie. He came in to work on set, and I slapped a paintbrush in his hand and pointed to a wall, saying 'Paint that!' We quickly recognized the creative spark in each other and became fast friends."

James Cameron's tribute.
RIP
'Tis a shame. As an icon, he framed and refined a character archtype and film personality that would be sorely missed in the coming years of cinema. But he was also a good man.
Well...there goes another piece of my childhood. :'(
He was one of my heroes in the 80s. Same with John. Somehow it's harder because we remember these people for their roles in the alien/aliens movies. So time stands still for them until we hear this terrible news.... (does that make sense? Aargg... Just so gutted atm)
I can't believe this. I'm still in shock. All I can say is Paxton's many performances are something that my family and I have quoted and laughed over MANY times. His dramatic performances were also excellent. RIP Hudson/Lambert. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
My brother bought a pickup truck because of twister lol.

I am crushed! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
So sad. This is a terrible loss. RIP.
Gonna build a fire. Sing a couple of sad songs.
:'(
Godspeed, private Hudson. See you in heaven....or space :'(
Damn, this came out of nowhere. Very sad. RIP. :(
This is a celebrity death that really got to me. Y'know one reason I love cinema is how much it can inspire, awe and entertain me. Bill Paxton as Hudson embodied all that to me. This one brilliant actor who I'll never meet bought me such joy for the talents he displayed.
Really guys like Hudson and Lambert are supposed to be annoying shits who you don't grow to like. Instead Paxton worked his magic and made gold. Hudson would have to be my favourite supporting character in movie history.
Man what a great lost. Love this guy in everything he was in. They dont make actors like him anymore....he will be missed. RIP to him and hope his family is doing well.
:'(
Oh dear Lord Jesus, this ain't happening, man... This can't be happening, man! This isn't happening!
Bill Paxton you will be missed. :'(
Damm dude....rest in peace.
too f**king soon.
Way too soon.
Fell asleep watching Aliens and woke up to the news. Heartbreaking. Rest in peace, Bill.
Game over man, game over :(
God damn it, too soon. :'(

I woke up this morning, opened up an app on my phone that I usually use to get some funny pictures for a quick laugh. And there it was at the top screen... "RIP Bill Paxton"
What a goddamn shame. First John Hurt and now Bill Paxton... I hope they put a "In memory of" at the end of Covenant... for both of them.

Sad to hear. I liked a lot of his movies.
I think that's Bill doing the singing. Sounds like him. Being directed by Cameron, no less.
One of his last known public appearances.

Surgery is brutal, man. They literally tear you open, rip your guts out and sew you back up again. Then you're in pain for weeks. Never mind potential complications.

Bill Paxton's acting performances were always top-notch. His role as Hudson in Aliens was really great, including his memorable one-liners, some of which he improvised on the set in a perfect way. It's very sad when such great and talented actors pass away.
Rest in Peace Bill.
I'm still hurting from this.

Lance Henriksen has played characters that were killed by a Terminator and a Predator.
Technically, Bishop is an android and cannot be killed, as is in evidence when Bishop survived being torn apart by the Queen.
Ultimately, Bishop 'died' when Ripley 'pulled the plug' on him.
So no, Bishop was not 'killed' by an Alien. Just Predator and a Terminator.
[EDiT]: What a shitty start to the year this has been.
-Windebieste
And Hudson was merely dragged away, and the T-800 just knocked out the punk.
Ya. Arguably, Hudson was killed by the detonating processor while being cocooned. We really don't know his fate.
Unless you think 'A:CM' is canon.
-Windebieste.
After not seeing him in much for a while I didn't realize how much I missed him until I saw him in edge of tomorrow. Only going to miss him even more now :-\
He was my favorite in Aliens. Ironic he died on my birthday... I loved him as an actor in the many movies I loved to see him in. I honestly don't think I can have another birthday and not think of his passing. RIP you ultimate badass.
61 is so young. Devestating :( he seemed like such a top top top bloke, only evidenced by the flood of tributes.
I'll always remember him warmly from Twister, proper childhood memories.
And Hudson, simply the best.
Much love Bill.

Quote from: SuicideDoors on Feb 27, 2017, 08:06:03 AMI'll always remember him warmly from Twister, proper childhood memories.
Yeah, I used to love that film. Not watched it in years. Might have to give it a spin tonight.
RIP Paxton.
Twister is an often overlooked gem. Jurassic Park with storms.
Shit. *shakes head*
DAAAAAAAMMMMNNNN!
Every Alien flick has had one or more comic relief character and I have got to believe Paxton was the best of all of them.
I knew he was getting short, but that was just too damn short.
I loved the way he redeemed himself, for being such a blow hard coward earlier, during his classic death scene in A2.
RIP
Not sure I've seen anyone mention the completely overlooked One False Move in this thread yet. Great starring turn from Bill, excellent film that's been forgotten over the years, and well worth a watch.
When i saw this on the news yesterday, it completely shocked my dad and I. Such a talented man.
After 2016, no wonder he wanted out of this Chicken-S**t Outfit.
Farewell
wonder what Lance has to say, they were great friends and i always think of the two together a la Near Dark.
Bill's resume was staggeringly impressive, i loved more lesser-known stuff like The Dark Backward and The Vagrant, he had such an amazing full-on comic talent as was as for just the one-liners. even in small roles like Haywire, he was great.
Devastated. This man was a national treasure. I can't imagine what it would have been like growing up in the 80s and 90s without Mr. Paxton.
My favorite Aliens marine just died, I loved him in so many movies. RIP Bill Paxton, you will always be remembered.
Bill was a freakin LEGEND! It's so sad that I just saw Aliens in the theater a little over a month ago. He was the gift that kept on giving. I really am going to miss him dearly. All the movies and games that He was in will never be the same.
:'( :'( :'(
what f**king surgery ! still cannot believed ! still hurts ...
i've been a huge fan since i saw Near Dark and other early stuff. i've "known" the guy for over 30 years now, it's almost like losing family.
The man was so full of life, never thought he'd go :( I really got into the Training Day series on CBS, but I don't know how that show can possibly continue without him ???
Shame.... :(
Man. It's Monday. He's still gone...
I haven't really put my thoughts into articulate words yet. I think I'm mostly distraught because Aliens has been my favorite film for my entire life, for different reasons over the years. He played my favorite character. The movie has profoundly influenced the trajectory of my life, to the point that it would be stupid to say that enlisting in the real-life US Marines wasn't in part a result of my obsession with the film, and his role featured prominently means that he has been a part of that. I suppose, Paxton being 61 and me being 28 meant that there was always a chance that my life would outlast his in terms of the year we died. I'm just so shocked that I got to spend less than 30 years of my life watching the path his career took. The dude was a master, a true craftsman to observe in the same way that I think Gary Oldman and Johnny Depp have been. The man could transform himself from one role to another. It's amazing to watch the same guy as Chet and then as astronaut Fred Haise. I should've been more diligent about making it to a convention that he appeared at. I feel like looking back I made excuses to avoid it. I could've met him. I should have tried at least.
I wish I would've been a closer fan in terms of seeing everything he's been in over the years, because now all the catching up I have to do on seeing all of his different appearances have a depressing overtone. I think I'm looking forward to watching Big Love for the first time and also One False Move, which I haven't seen yet. But I'm happy to have seen him pop up in Commando or The Terminator, or Titanic and I've always been a fan of Twister, Predator 2, True Lies, and Apollo 13 among other roles. I thought he was good in Nightcrawler and I recently saw Near Dark for the first time a few years back, perhaps as recently as four years ago for the first time. Classic. And always Aliens.
I can't believe it... I'm still reeling from the news. We just loss Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds and John Hurt. Now Bill Paxton? This doesn't seem real. Bill was an amazing actor and such an awesome individual. He will be sorely missed. :'(
Rest in peace, Private Hudson.
I was on my way back home from an internet-free weekend away and checking my friend's phone for some music when I randomly saw the news on a Google search and dismissed it as obviously not real. Then I got home and found out it was. :(
I know it's always surprising when a celebrity you've "known" for years dies, but this one really did come out of the blue. He was always one of those people I liked seeing in anything he was in, and was happy when he'd pop up out of nowhere in something I was watching, like Edge of Tomorrow recently. Of course Hudson will pretty much always be his most famous role, but he was great in many other things too. I always thought A Simple Plan was a very underrated film, and he completely carried that whole thing.
And he always seemed like such a nice guy in real life, always going out of his way to give a "game over, man!" to an appreciative convention crowd with only good things to say about his fellow actors and movie makers. Really sucky news indeed.
Thanks for all your great work over many years and many movies, Mr Paxton. You will be missed.
My sister tragically passed away around the same time Bill Paxton did. It was hard trying to escape reality by going on AVP Galaxy to escape my sister's sudden death.. However within 24hours of my sister passing away I suddenly find out one of my favourite childhood actor's also died.. :( RIP Bill Paxton.
Man talk about having a shitty week. :( Btw I am not looking for any sympathy I just find it surreal how life can kick you up the arse when you are not expecting it.
At least the new trailer has put a tiny smile on my face.
I am sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it is to lose a close loved one. It has a way of really reminding a person of just how fragile and precious life really is.
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Thankfully the trailer gave you a smile back.
Cheers guys much appreciated.
I just notice I put in my last post "one of my favourite childhood actors also died." I was meaning to say, one of my favourite actors from my childhood. Dam predicted text on my phone.
Not his time at all </3 really hate this, Hudson was by far my favourite character out of all films I've ever watched :(
RIP Bill

R.I.P you were my favourite actors and I will miss you loads you were one the best actors of all time
Was thinking about watching Twister tonight, and I could hardly believe he's been gone 4 years already.
Unreal.
Yeah... How time flies.
I greatly miss Bill Paxton, especially when I watch Aliens and Predator 2. :(
Bill Paxton's Family Reaches $1 Million Settlement With Anesthesia Firm Over Actor's Death (https://deadline.com/2022/02/bill-paxton-death-family-reaches-million-dollar-settlement-with-anesthesia-firm-1234959760/)
QuoteBill Paxton's widow and children have reached a partial settlement of their wrongful-death lawsuit, with an anesthesiologist medical group agreeing to pay $1 million.
Attorneys for Dr. Moody Makar and General Anesthesia Specialists Partnership filed court papers Wednesday with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Steven Kleifield seeking approval of the accord between the Paxton family members and the company. Makar works at the firm and was the anesthesiologist during heart surgery Paxton had less than two weeks before his death on February 25, 2017.
According to court documents, General Anesthesia Specialists' lawyers said the company "denies liability in this matter" but said the settlement deal will "reasonably compensate plaintiffs and avoid exposing defendant to an expensive and time consuming litigation."

Interesting. I'd guess that his death was unavoidable (who wants to be the guy that killed Bill Paxton?), and that the anaesthesiologists were doing all they could.
I'd say a settlement implies some guilt, but given the complications of the American legal system, it was probably cheaper than to drag it through the courts.
Can't imagine anyone is exactly pleased with the outcome, though.
Bill's absence in Netflix's The Movies That Made Us -Aliens is felt. I can imagine him saying with his passionate voice, "Game Over Man! Just Game Over!" Boy the loss of Paxton is still stinging my soul.
