It's what I've been told by Fox and the Bros. No novel.

Were there reasons for that? That could make it the only film of either franchise not to have any.

I'm sure I can think of a few...but I am already branded a hater...so I will keep them to myself... ;)

Wuss :p.

-- No one wants to do it

-- Fox doesn't want to pay for someone who does

-- Not enough story potential

-- Hesitation to invest further for fear that the movie will flop

-- Lack of foresight

I think it's just the inherent fear that they have with most of their films having info leaked onto the Internet. They had a projectionist fired by his employers because he saw FF2 a few days early and gave a review. The depths to which they'll stoop to make sure this film has as little information dripped is unfathomable.

It'll happen, but I doubt they want bad press if the fans don't like something and have an actual novelization of the film to base their anger around.

Don't forget

-- Crappy-ish story, trying hard to get anther Ripley character

-- Already trying to bring in a new Newt(There was only one Newt)

BONUS:
-- Directors who have called themselves fans(Paul Anderson called himself a fan)

The movie is just a slasher from the looks of it. Don't think you could churn out a novel from it.
Get Stephen King to write it?

Lol indeed, all his novels get made into "B" movies for some reason.

But I remember someone else saying that the first Alien is a slasher film covered up with a great story and visual storytelling. Can't AvP:R do the same thing?

Probably not. The thing with the old school horror mentality is that it was more story minded and classical. This enabled it to be blended with scifi to become a hybrid, something not slasher. Nowadays horror is completely cheap. Thats why I always thought the approach to these films MUST not include "were going to make a bloody monster picture". Bad connotation, slippery mindset. Make a gritty scifi film plz. And not a NERDY scifi film like A res either lol.

Now that there is no novelization, I am starting to question this film even more now. I did like the new interview and a small mention of an attempt at story, but dont they all say that?

No novel = another eerie coincidence, and I dont like it.

If they did one for 'Predator 2', which they did, they could probably do one for this.
