How reliable is this site?
Very reliable. They got the last release date move before anybody else when it moved from March to February.
Oh for Christ's sake. If they wait for the right window, they might as well never release it.
Yes, how dare they move the film to not have to compete with a Marvel blockbuster.

April has X-Men The New Mutants and Rampage with Dwayne Johnson.
May has Avengers Infinity War and Han Solo.
June has Deadpool 2, Bumblebee, Incredibles 2, and Jurassic World 2.
July has Ant-Man 2, Purge 4, Skyscraper with Dwayne Johnson, The Nun (a Conjuring spinoff), Alita Battle Angel, and MI6.

I agree. What do they have in August that'll be their biggest competition? Meg again? The Equalizer, maybe. Still early to see all the releases of August 2018, but it's a good month.
Well, no rushed post-production then. But still... fuuuuuuuuuuu...
Jesus, I didn't realize the field was that crowded til August.
Competition in August includes Scarface (which is probably gonna get delayed), Meg and Holmes & Watson, as well as an Untitled Disney Film and Amusement Park.
Plenty of time for Dutch's role to be expanded . :P

Yeah, Homes & Watson might get some money from the Adam McKay crowd and Meg will probably be like Warcraft Box office wise.

Suck it up guys, we all want this movie to make a lot of money for the franchise to go on. If the studio thinks delaying this movie will bring in a lot of money i'm fine with that. We don't want this movie to flop , if it does, it leads to one thing and one thing only, the end of predator franchise.

I'm fine with a delay as long as the film makes it better and/or to heighten the chances of it being a success. I always suspected a delay, with a week before Black Panther and filming less than a year before release.
Well isn't that annoying... but maybe a good thing.
Its been confirmed by other places now. Looks like Fox is announcing dates for lots of stuff today
Oh well. Predator has always been a summer movie.
As long as it's to give them more time and/or a better release window and not because of troubles behind the scenes this is probably a good thing as others have said.
Now I wait in hope that we'll get a first image of the predator for the 30th Anniversary!
I mean you guys realize several Fox movies had release dates moved right. It wasn't just The Predator. It has nothing to do with the movie's quality. They're doing what's best for their movies.
That sucks, but it's good they have more time to work on it. ;D
Oh Bother, well here hoping this insure s that the movie isn't rushed.

Disappointed I'll have to wait, but oh well. The original Predator was shut down halfway through production, so I'm not worried that this will be indicative of the film's quality.

Let's hope the marketing team does a good job on this one now they have the time. SDCC is a month before it too so they could do something special there perhaps...
I don't think that's a bad date. August is around the time where Summer vacation is technically ending. A good way to end it with a Predator movie. August releases for films I feel tend to fare better than the middle of the summer

Yeah, the book is pure cheese! How the megladon is killed is really out there. The series has garnered a very large cult following. I've never read any of the other novels. I expect it to be a cross between
Jurassic Park and
Jaws. More of a
Jurassic Park feel though. It will probably be PG-13 as well which could hurt
The Predator at the box office.
I just don't see a Jason Statham shark movie of a middling book from the '90s being a huge threat in August.

Got to admit a little bummed it got moved to August 2018. I'm hoping this gives a chance for a better story or better character development. If this helps the predator franchise I'm all for it.

I'd rather they push it back and give it the best chance -- be it longer production, post-production, or less BO competition -- than doggedly stick to a release date.
Seems like the overwhelming consensus is that this delay is a good thing. I have to wonder if they'll be extending the primary shoot since they'll be getting extra post time. I know that would increase the production budget so I'm guessing the primary photography will go as scheduled.

Chances are they will add some bigger movies to August as 2018 draws closer but slating this at the end of the summer is a bold move and shows some confidence. I haven't seen much of anything on 'Meg' but it sounds like it could either be a fun thrill ride or a total disaster that bombs hard. I thought Eli Roth was supposed to direct it but I guess not.

Lol!!
Thank GOD!. Hopefully it's a script rewrite for the god awful plot leak we had a few months back. They completely went off the rails and failed the distinguish the tenacity of the predator and failed to display his ferocity by "1-upping" him, similar to Predators.
It's not too late to cut back or drop certain things. I'm hoping they just try instead of leaving it as is.
That and they spend some time with the CG. I prefer practical effects, especially if they can't hire a good CG company that's familiar with Predator. (Even great CG companies can screw up a movie if they have no idea what the character is suppose to be)

least Stephen Kings It is out soon that will keep me going. Isn't the predator set in Halloween?
I don't think this delay has any impact on the actual shoot though. For everyone hoping that they fix the script just remember they're filming it right now. I can't tell you how much of a nightmare it would be if they just ditched the script mid-shoot. They'd essentially be filming action sets with no real direction. If that were to happen it could bury this franchise forever.
It's Black and Dekker's script - they're not changing it unless they have a problem with their own story. More likely the delay is a) avoiding Marvel and possibly b) more time for action/FX work or whatnot.
I've shared two articles on this thread explaining that the movie release was because of the other big movies coming out from Feb to July.. no I don't like having to wait 6 more months, but I agree that it will fair better from tickets sales in August

I know people who work in practical effects for tv and movies and they do change pieces, add things, etc... So it can happen if they decide to do it. I don't think they are going to revamp the script or change it completely but it's still very possible to change or cut things. That's what I said earlier and what I'm crossing my fingers for now.

Yeah I can't wait for IT, Never really liked the last one but understand why people like it. Watched a movie called the void should check it out.
I hear The Void is fun. I missed it at a festival here in town last fall and do want to see it.
It looks like It is sticking close to the Cary Fukunaga screenplay from before he left the project; given that it looks more impressive than I expected without him. So I do have some hopes there.

I definitely enjoyed it. Reminded me of the thing with touches of hellraiser, currently watching get out? So far so good.
There's also Saw Legacy and a new Cloverfield movie out this fall.
I just wish we were still getting a new Friday The 13th film.
Also, I was planning on see The Void a few weeks back, but ended up seeing Colossal instead. I think its on Netflix though.
I have seen the script for the film that became "Cloverfield 3" and all I can say is I hope it was considerably reworked.
There are and have been many attempts at a new Friday the 13th over the last couple years. The one I absolutely loved - from Nick Antosca, a writer for the Hannibal TV series and the co-creator of SyFy's Channel Zero anthology series - was part Richard Linklater-style hangout/coming of age piece, and takes a long time to build characters carefully and then begin to kill them unpredictably. It's funny and sweet and also very dark and violent and unsettling, and it's unlike any other film in the franchise. That got rejected.
There's also a draft I saw from the writer of Prisoners which basically tries to fuse both prequel material (with the Voorhees family) and the first two F13s all into one new movie, which I find rushed and too much. So F13 is back in dev hell at the moment.
The Antosca draft, which is now online I believe, was pretty cool. Really dug the ending. But can we please stop with the '80s songs every 8 pages? This goes for the Antosca and Guzi drafts.
The Guzikowski draft was like three different movies! Great beginning and ending though. The bell was a nice touch. Apparently Vera Farmiga was in talks for Mrs. V. Bette Midler too. The latter I'm not so sure of though.
Have you read the Naing & Goldberg script?
And last I heard, Cunningham wanted to produce the next F13th himself, and not just collect a paycheck. Lol!
The '80s songs make the Antosca draft. Like Linklater's movies, it's a tone poem!
The Guzikowski draft is all over the place. But I need to give it a fairer shot and really read it close as opposed to glancing through.
I don't know the other draft you mention.
well that is retarded but understandable, the crappy childish, disney mcu movies (i am a Marvel fan btw, but not of the bad stuff) make a lot of money at the box office and they could not handle that kind of competition, still they have to release it when the movie is ready and not like six months later

Where are you finding drafts and such?
WHO ARE YOU?! WHERE ARE THE DRAFTS?!!!! SWEAR TO MEEEEE!!!!!

Haha. I think you'll still find Guzi's draft a bit disjointed upon a more discerning read. I expected more from the Prisoners man. Why did she have to get addicted to drugs? Predictable.
It was the found footage draft. I don't think it was any good though.
It feels like some studio exec told him to mash three different Friday movies (including new background mythology) together into one draft and that it needed to be under two hours. I can't believe that was by choice.
I thought Dan Farrands wrote the found footage take. I would be keen to see it.

In the immortal words of Paul Verhoeven's
Showgirls: "Different places!" But unlike
The Predator most stuff I am potentially willing to share.

Okay cool, I'd like $2000 please and a script of the Last Jedi too.

I have seen the script for the film that became "Cloverfield 3" and all I can say is I hope it was considerably reworked.
You referring to God Particle?

I left it at the dry cleaners.

Yep. In fairness I believe the draft I saw pre-dated it being snapped up for
Cloverfield, and I assume possibly re-worked.
I just hope that when Paramount loses the F13 rights, Blumhouse will pick them up and do something similar to what they're doing with Halloween.
Also, what is the Naing & Goldberg script, Bishop?

Yeah, I think Doug Jung was brought on to re-write it just before filming began.
I think between the two drafts Bishop and I discussed Paramount had everything they needed for Friday - there were good ideas in both, and I love the Antosca draft. If they don't see it that's on them.
The scripts John Carpenter and one of the Halloween novelists worked on for Part IV back in the day are floating around too, before he abandoned the project (at which point I think the Akkads lied and told Donald Pleasence he was still involved, which led to the sequels we know today). I need to read them, as I am curious if they pertain to the new film at all which Carpenter allegedly also has his hand in. I am a huge Halloween fan. I still kind of wish Mike Flanagan was doing the movie, but David Gordon Green and McBride are very talented.
Flanagan would have been awesome, especially after Hush and Oujia Origin Of Evil.
Also, I found an article about the H4 Carpenter treatment:
http://wickedhorror.com/features/script-pieces-carpenter-etchisons-halloween-4/
Yep. There are two drafts of the Etchison/Carpenter script and they're floating around if you know where to look. I haven't sat down and read either yet.
I think Flanagan is so talented - I worked a little on marketing for on his first post-Oculus film a few years ago which I think is still on the shelf and had several title changes. It wasn't great but it was solid, and Hush is great. Ouija saddled him with a cheesy prequel plot to a bad movie but he still made it fun and scary.

How could you man? Now go and get it before some random customer picks it up!
Was told Karyn Kusama(The Invitation) turned down Halloween before McBride and Green pitched.
That would've been amazing.
I think the Etchison and Carpenter draft only got to the treatment phase (according to the article), but I could be wrong.
I think Before I Wake (or Somnia as Flanagan prefers to call it) will get picked up by Netflix, since Relativity Media is all but dead and he's doing Gerald's Game for them. Heck, they're releasing it worldwide except for the US this Friday.
Anyway, I'm glad horror is finally getting back on track with folks like Flanagan, James Wan, and Adam Wingard, among many others. I hope Halloween will begin the return of the slasher genre.
Speaking of slashers, wonder what's going on with the Nightmare On Elm Street reboot with David Leslie Johnson writing.

Man, I'm disappointed that didn't happen.
Ah well, at least she's doing Breed at Fox.
Nope. Two drafts. One Carpenter worked heavily on.

What is it he did again?
He wrote Orphan and Red Riding Hood, and co-wrote Wrath Of The Titans, The Conjuring 2 and Unforgettable (that came out Friday). He's also worked on The Walking Dead and Mob City, and is one of the writers on the Dungeons & Dragons reboot, and was attached to Aquaman before Will Beal came on board.

good. maybe they're reconsidering some of the nonsense in the current script.
Im working my ass off to get this result. This is the last chance for the fans.
How are you doing it outside of complaining in this forum, exactly?
I wish I could tell you more. But we have a large number of deep-cover operatives involved. You know how it is. We all have a job to do. Now, I'm sure we can respect each other's situation and act responsibly
So, nothing. Got it.
Enjoy complaining about a movie for an extra six months.
Dont be jealous.like I said cheerleading bring nothing but crap to the table.
In your opinion.
Best of luck with your undercover operation.

Back on topic...
I'm not too bummed by it being delayed. I'd rather see them take their time with it than rush it to meet a release date.
a little concerned here. Late summer is where movies usually dump their trash (that and early jan/feb), holding out hope that this thing will be good.
I watched Iron Man 3 last night and one thing I thought Black handled very well were the scenes between the boy and Tony Stark. While I was weary of the material little boy in The Predator. I think these parts will come off just fine. Most of Black's scripts have always had interesting kid characters in them. My favorite being Danielle Harris from The Last Boy Scout.
Arnold teasing his return :)
Why would he quote from Dutch if he's not coming back? Its funny by the way.

I hope the new early august date give them time to reconsider things if needed.
Its finally will be a summer event movie as Black mentioned last year.

Spoiler
The kid is lame in the script
.But in the past he used to handle the kids pretty good, agreed, add Last Action Hero and The Monster Squad to your list.
The main kid in The Nice Guys was lame tho.I guess he lost his touch recently.
I like Rory in the script just fine.
Spoiler
Rory is the name of Tremblay's character?
Yep.
...but does he drop a few F Bombs at least? :P

I say August is not bad. It's the end of the summer and more time to work on the movie.
