Question:
What should have come out of the pod at the end of The Predator?
Option 1: Predator Killer Suit
Option 2: Dutch
Option 3: Royce
Option 4: Isabelle
Option 5: Xenomorph
Option 6: Ripley
Option 7: Newt
Option 8: Hybrid
Option 9: Harrigan
Most think that the Predator Killer suit was a piece of shit. We've now seen some other options they were thinking of using (Ripley & Newt).
It could quite easily have been a Xenomorph, Dutch or Roye coming out of the pod and made much more sense so I don't know why none of these were considered for filming.
But which of these do you think should have come out of the pod?
Elvis.
Honestly, there should have been nothing. The entire idea of a "Predator Killer" should have been scrapped. I don't like the idea of a macguffin or person, that's going to be the key of winning an upcoming war. I'd rather have the friendly Predators back, that help the humans get outfitted with their own Predator gear. Or the humans themselves could have simply tried to reverse engineer the gear. The Predators certainly left enough of their **** behind.
I agree with Dusk. It's just a bad idea from the start, and it'd be silly no matter who or what popped out of the pod. If I have to pick one, then Royce makes the most sense. but it's all still a stupid idea.
Well all jokes aside, Isabelle would have been the most interesting choice and it would have set up the obvious result of Royce's return in the sequel. In hindsight perhaps there should have been 6 pods with an entirely new alien species... ah but that would make this movie a Predators sequel I guess.
Ok the plot is that fugitive stole something from the hybrids... shit the DNA serum that they use to enhance themselves would have been my black goo... oh...right.
Well f**k it, I'm out. The entire thing was stoopid. You know what the Predator Killer suit is better than any person and it's not the suit (in and of itself) fault, entirely, the whole scene was god awful. Although it surely is all Arnold's fault since the cameo role had to have been him inside of the pod, of which he turned down. Really makes me think Black and co. had no back up plan at all and just assumed Arnold would do it. Crikey ripe bloody fools.
None of the options are good. I definitely think any of the alien characters would be silly, and having a xenomorph in the pod only means that once again an alien is in yet another bad movie.

I'd be OK with Royce or Isabel. It would have been interesting to finally see a Pedator movie tie in to a previous installment in the franchise, and I personally would have found Royce to be less cheesy than Dutch. He was at least off planet and
trying to return home. As far as the other options - absolutely no aliens or tie-ins to Alien though. AvP should be set in the far future, in space.

You make a really good point about the concept of a direct tie-in to a previous Predator installment. Plus Adrian Brody's in his mid 40's, pretty sure he can still kick-ass if needed, where as Arnie... well everyone gets too old to battle intergalactic baddies eventually.
Yea, and if they did it that way it would have elevated a previous installment, which would have been good business. Opportunity missed but I really think they just put all of their eggs into one basket with Arnold. :P
We actually discussed this in the other thread. I'd vote for both Royce and Isabella if I could, but Royce for certain.
This would be the most logical reveal. If Royce survived this long, it would mean he has been killing Predators on that hunting reserve planet for years... a True Predator Killer ... substantial enough for the honorable Yautja clan to notice, realize he deserves his freedom, and come to the conclusion that he can help teach the human race to defend themselves from any dissentient, blasphemous Predator clans if necessary. This would have been an A ending in my book.
Or an A+ if this happened:
- Quinn Mckenna : (slightly mocking) You're the "Predator Killer"?
Royce punches Quinn in the jaw, sending him tumbling to the floor.
Royce: Shut the f*ck up. I'm talking now. And you all need to hear this.

Royce wakes up suddenly and assaults the science personnel that are working on him. As the guards move in, he takes one down and grabs his weapon. A stalemate ensues. The guards are screaming, but Royce remains silent. We see over McKenna's shoulder as he walks towards Royce, then stops.
McKenna: "who the f*ck are you?"
Focus on Royce's face as the predator bongo's slowly begin and we cut to black. The fading echo of the drums carrying us off into nothingness.

Well if you guys like that... and considering that this is a film about genetic engineering then
get ready for the big reveal.
The fugitive Predator was Royce! He was genetically altered/mutated into being a Predator. Just like that dude become a bug in District 9. Oh you f**kers know that Neil blomkamp had to have whispered something in Black's ears.
Although really, if we were going to go to the shared holy f**k universe there was only one real choice. One that could have at least made some sense. It should have been an engineer inside of his sleep pod. Yea boy, let's get Prometheus all up in the house!

I doubt Black had much to do with this one at all. It reeked of studio interference.
I definitely prefer the suit ending out of the 3 options that got filmed, I'd have preferred it just ended before that with the "come and get us motherf**kers" line like it did in some of the tests.
But if they had to have something come out of the pod at the end, it should have been Royce or Isabelle. That would have been relevant to the franchise and might have given some lore implications about the clan conflicts.

I wrote a theory for Gary's return as a floating head. It's somewhere out there in the pages of AVPG history. I remember it caught some folks off guard.
Found it:
"I just figured when Olivia is looking at the predator masks behind glass, the camera will keep panning to the left until you see Gary's head sitting there like one of the masks. That's when jr. will say, "and this is dad". Gary's eyes pop open, and he floats out to meet them on a tiny little hovering space platter. Then he takes her on a tour of the whole place and shows off all the cool predator gadgets while constantly saying "remarkable weaponry".
The capsule opens up, and there's a DVD collection of all the past Predator movies.

All the options are bad. The pod shouldn't be something that was meant for humans neither a human character. Because why? Why would the Fugitive just happen to have a human stored in there?
The best idea would be no pod at all.
Indeed. It should've just been that fugitive is being hunted by hybrid as a punishment, not for stealing anything. Like a death sentence. He got a head start and was hunted all the way to earth. The humans were just caught in the middle. There was no plan to help anybody.
And fugitive should've had a chance. It would've been nice to see how a predator handles being hunted, what traps they would set, etc. Not just missing point blank and charging like an idiot. A cat and mouse game between the two of them over the course of the film would've resulted in a better viewing experience for me. Of course, you'd also need to remove the kid and the looney angle as well.

I voted Xenomorph, but an actual Facehugger in an electronically sealed Lab Jar. Maybe the Queen Alien Superfacehugger design from ALIEN 3.
But again that would've gone down like a lead baloon with mainstream audiences who think AVP can't work.
Royce would've confused people as he isn't well known outside of AVP-GALAXY. Also in supermarkets no-one stocks DVDs of PREDATORS like they do with PREDATOR.
People would be "why is The Pianist inside a predator capsule?"
Might as well have been David Dunn from Unbreakable... oh hell just plain old John McClane.
There never should've been a pod ending. Fugitive never should've been trying to help us. He should've just been on the run for different reasons that had to do with his own wellbeing. I'd rather predators didn't make nice with humans.
I think a film with a feud between predators could've sufficed. Have a group of people stuck in the middle of it and also bring back OWLF with Sean Keyes in charge and have them doing their own shenanigans. It really didn't need to be complicated or have stupid gimmicks like "what's in the pod?".
