Did you notice that at the bottom where it gives the release date ,it states that we are getting a vol 2 of the original series. I.e. Nightmare asylum.

I'm loving that cover. :D

They really seem to be milking the Isolation inspiration cow as much as they can with the way station and such, and I couldn't be happier.

Half Century War was fantastic. I'm loving the art on this, and it's nice to see that Dark Horse is still committed to making stand-alone Aliens comics. Also cool to see more of the old comics getting re-released!

Also, on a continuity note, 2295 CE puts us basically right in the middle between A3 and Resurrection, and 70 years past Life and Death. I wonder if we'll ever get far enough ahead to get a comic where the USM are the antagonists?

Oh shit, I just saw this and wet myself. Thanks Dark Horse. You made my day.

I'm really liking this James Stokoe guy! Dark Horse seems to be listening or just hiring the right people for Aliens.

Love the sound of this!!:

"Dead Orbit' mostly takes place on the space station Sphacteria in a rather forgotten and secluded area of space".

Give me dark space, an Alien and space stations all day any day! This is going to be a good one, liking his art too.

The Comic's illustration appear similar to those of the older comics. Though I agree with the predatory aspect of the xenomorph, I think regarding them as simply dangerous animals doesn't do them justice.

Love the isolated feeling that you get just by looking at the pictures of the previews. Even if the story doesn't hold up at least the art looks detailed and enjoyable. The cover art looks wonderful as well.

Exactly: "Stokoe makes clear in the interview that he's more interested in atmosphere than plot, which does sound like the best way to approach an Alien story."

Except that with a great plot and atmosphere you get a hit like Alien & Aliens. If one is missing, you get an Alien 3 or Alien Res.

Another positive review.

QuoteThe Alien franchise spans all sorts of mediums – films, books, comics, games, etc. – and it has spawned two bonafide masterpieces. There's no disputing the brilliance of the films Alien and Aliens. They are true works of art that every other part of the franchise has struggled to live up to. That is, of course, until James Stokoe unleashed Aliens: Dead Orbit. We're only one issue in, but this already shaping up to be the best work in this universe since the original two films.

What about games and books though Hicks.

I'd say, for me the best of the EU is

Labyrinth

Isolation

AVP classic

Book 2

Defiance ( depends on how it ends though )

Ooohhhh. Isolation and AvP2 would definitely be in there but I'm not sure which comics would make the cut. Probably Labrynth, Destroying Angels and Nightmare (tied alongside the novelization) but I also really dug Berserker.

Seconding this, the comic is cool but the novelization is better, it develops the characters quite a bit more.

This was true of most of the Bantam-era novelizations.

That is good to hear!
It may sound shallow, but I find black and white comics often to be a deal breaker unless backed up by really good writing.

Interesting as I actually prefer great used of simple black and white. Walking Dead a prime example. Early Judge Dredd as well.

Agreed about the AVP prologue. It's better in black and white. The recolour is not good.

Indeed. I think Earth war would have benefited from being Black and White. Perhaps the art would have been less Jarring.

I have, I'm not really a fan of the art or the writing for the original comics, or even the coloured rereleases. There was a lot of cringeworthy dialogue and awkward sexual tension that came off as forced and undeveloped to me. The books were quite a bit better IIRC, but yeah... There's also the fact I read these first when I was around 8 or 9 and I'd already seen Alien 3, causing some cognitive disconnect.  :P

I loves the mug that the woman crew member was drinking from on the bridge.

What were some examples of cringeworthy dialogue and awkward sexual tension?

I'm going to give it another read through this weekend after my Fire and Stone/Life and Death full read through, just to make sure my memory isn't just a little warped, but I swear there was something at least alluded to between Hicks and Newt? Then again I may be mixing it up with her and that android...

On the topic of Dead Orbit, gosh the artwork is so full of detail and clutter and... I love it. Lines, lines and bits sticking out everywhere and it feels so right for the setting. I can't explain it well, it just has that same idea of an "industrial-punk gritty future" that the original Alien movie had.

Dialogue is also top notch with each character easily expressing their personalities through what they say and how they react to each other.

Spoiler
Not a fan of the fake-out with the metal stuff near the end. While it was a nice psychological nod to the biomechanical nature of the Xenomorph it felt like a waste of a panel considering the real deal shows up almost right away. Still... I know that this same thing has happened to me while playing AvP so it really is such a small nitpick in an otherwise great first issue.

I just read #1 and it is fantastic. Absolutely gorgeous comic. Dark Horse have stepped it up in the art department with having the likes of Tristan Jones and James Stokoe getting on the Alien comics.

Obviously, with it being only the first issue there isn't a whole lot to go on but I'm liking the direction and tone of the series so far. It's working very well together. Really looking forward to more.

That chestburster scene was fantastic, like twin brothers meeting and interacting for the first time after birth. Beautifully horrifying. I do wonder why this crew even bothers to try and save these three, what with all their skin removed it's better to just mercifully kill them. But still great stuff. :)

I have his Godzilla book in a fancy pants and it is beautiful.

Damn it.

Dont get me wrong. As long as the next two issues are as good as the first two them i dont mind the wait.

Stokoe is a slow worker when it comes to doing his own work. Just look at Orc Stain ( great by the way ). It has only 7 issues in as many years.  I did kind of think that all 4 issues on schedule would be amazing.

It's a shame they didn't do the same with Defiance. I would've rather waited and had Tristan do the whole thing.

Post by: SM on Jun 27, 2017, 09:52:17 AM
Lotta disrespect for the other artists who worked on that series in this thread.  Tristan's stuff might've been the best, but there was good stuff by the other artists as well.
Title: Re: DH Announces Aliens: Dead Orbit (April 2017)
Post by: HuDaFuK on Jun 27, 2017, 10:02:00 AM
No disrespect intended. Their work was great. It's just Tristan's art was on another level.

Plus it would've given it some consistency. I didn't like that it kept changing.
Title: Re: DH Announces Aliens: Dead Orbit (April 2017)
Post by: Russ840 on Jun 27, 2017, 10:33:07 AM
Yeah its not disrespectful to want the same artist to complete. What he started.

I for one hate it when you have fill in artists. It ruins the flow of the story for me. Seen as comics are also a visual medium.

Would have been more than happy for Defiance to be Bi-monthly.

The others were good artists, especially Stephen Thompson, but i like a single vision when i read comics.

I would've preferred it to.  I remember the old Colonial Marines series suffering in that regard. But it seems some people are making it out to be worse than it actually is.  Defiance had pretty good quality throughout the run.

Hopefully my adoration for Tristans work doesn't come off as disrespectful to the other artists. I agree that all the art on the Defiance run was pretty great.

Agreed. It was great quality throughout. O think issues 1 through 7 are awesome. It seemed to meander from 8 to 12. Those last five issues stopped it from being an amazing series overall. For me.  Still prob one of the beat Aliens series we have. The three leads were very good.

Pretty great issue, it all feels maybe a little too familiar but thats just being picky. Great art and story, really feels like it fits in the universe created by the first film. Some really nice looking panels with the creatures. Is this only 4 issues? Not sure why i thought it would be 5, wishful thinking.

I hope DH announces another alien series soon. I need something to hold onto after this series ends lol.

Yeah. He does pretty much all of it. He has said in interviews that he is really anal about detail and story so i van also imagine that he has had to redo bits. He did thats a bit on His Godzilla series.

At the end pf the day. I trust in Stokoe to deliver and if a delay is needed then im happy

Stokoe's artwork is so beautifully ugly. It's not always anatomically correct or precise but it has such a unique style to it (whilst evoking Moebius) that it just fits the macabre Giger/Alien imagery so well.
Title: Re: DH Announces Aliens: Dead Orbit (April 2017)
Post by: Russ840 on Aug 09, 2017, 11:29:27 AM
Not sure i would describe it quite the same way as you have Prez but i do agree with te moebius vibe.

What i love about Stokoe's work is that eveything on the page helps to serve the story telling. I know that's what is always the intent with comics but i think that is sometimes not the case. It helps because he does everything so we get an unfiltered vision from him.  A lot of time when i read comics i see great pictures and read sometimes good stories but they dont always meld very well. His work just flows as one natural piece. Even the Onomatopoeia that Stokoe puts into the panels helps set the scene and does not look out of place like a word just stamped on the page. Those words are part of the art.

I really am so happy that we have this series from him. Even though it is essential a run of the mill yarn that we have seen many times before it is just excecuted so well that i dont care.

I would say it is down to Stokoe. He is a notorious perfectionist.

His own creator owned series, Orc Stain, only has 7 issues. The gaps between some of those 7 were a year and more. No exaggeration.

I pre-order the single issues to support the book and get the digital on release. I only buy larger trades like the Fire and Stone collection or Omnibus collections for older books.

I buy digital on morning of release and then the trade if I like the book. Then I upgrade to what ever Hardcover comes out.

Yeah, I'm pretty much doing the same now too. I'm too impatient to wait for the trades so I read the singles and then buy the collected. I was going to wait for for the hardback for Life and Death but without any announcement, I've started buying the trades instead. If they do a fancy pants hardback edition, I'll get that too.

I am really hoping for a fancy pants of this book.

I have a fancy pants of Stokoe's Godzilla and it's an awesome book ( although it's IDW ).

Darkhorse, im sure, would have a few extras to put in there. Perhaps Stokoe's orignal fan comics of Aliens he sketched up. Those images are great and would be good to have them in there. Plus his art deserves the larger format.

I have seen you mention that comics are not your primary cup of tea. In the instance, im sure you will like it.

Stokoe creates so much atmosphere. So much detail a la Moebius.

I do feel guilty about not pre ordering the physical singles but I have not the time to pick them up or space to keep collecting.  Digital is so much more convenient for me. It's a shame that digital sales are not factored into the success of a book. It's all about the pre orders  :-\

I enjoyed Stronghold too. My only issue with it was despite the story, it ended (not the end with Jeri) on a note that deified one of the main driving points of the story.

There was this big drive about how wrong Nordling (I think that's his name?) is in the way he treats his synth characters. And then the last bit with get with our heroes is one of them pretty much just going "oh well, they weren't even real anyway".

Soooo. Just read #4. In fact I read 1 through 4.

Even though I hated having to, the wait was worth it.  Such a great series all round. For me it is tied with Labyrinth as best Alien comic to date. Although the story is run of the mill, Stokoe is such a great story teller that the usual tropes are welcome when rendered by him. The art is amazing.  Such rich atmosphere throughout.

The ending is worthy of the Alien universe. I am really happy with this issue and the series as a whole. I pray this gets a fancy pants edition release.

Wow what an amazing series! So good I had to register on this forum just to gush about it haha! This last issue was certainly worth the wait and ended stronger than the majority of EU stories. I think this is possibly the best 4 issue Aliens series ever (Destroying Angels is the only one I can think of that comes close). The art had me endlessly staring at panels while the story kept me intrigued throughout. Thank you James Stokoe!

@russ840 I hadn't heard of Stokoe prior to this series but I've been eyeing his Godzilla story on Amazon as of late. I'm hooked by the sheer amount of tiny details his artwork entails as well as his story telling prowess. Very impressive. I'd be overjoyed if he returns for more stories in the Aliens, Predator or AVP universe.

Godzilla Half Century War is amazing. I got the Oversized Hardcover because his art has such detail I didn't think the smaller pages would serve it best. I was not disappointed. I am currently reading his early comic called Wonton Soup.

Orc Stain is another of his work but there is only 7 issues and the 8 is no where in sight. But great stuff none the less.

If you can, get the hardcover of his Godzilla. It's on EBay, new, for around £25.

Nice! Thanks for the tip Russ!

Yikes! This Disney acquisition most likely means Marvel will soon get Aliens, Predator and AVP licenses. Hopefully Dead Orbit isn't the last Dark Horse Aliens comic we see. I'd assume There's most likely a set term (couple of years give or take) in the licensing agreement and I doubt Disney would breach that, but Dark Horse now has a finite time to publish new material. It's a shame because Dead Orbit, Defiance, and Life and Death were all solid entries (all of which I also want sequels to).

I read the final issue this morning. In short, I really enjoyed the series. Great artwork by Stoakes. Some heavily Alien and Isolation vibes (with an Alien 3 reference thrown in there!). I didn't think the story broke any new ground but I loved the bleakness of it. Definitely one of my favorite series.

Just read issue #4. It was really good, but I'll need to read the whole thing together because I had forgotten a but of what was going on. Stokoe really killed it on the art, especially how run-down the station looked. The bleak ending was refreshing, and I would love a prequel about the ship the aliens arrived on. More stories in that general time period would be cool, too. I think this is set the year WY loses it's FTL contracts, so the general decay of everything was cool.

It reads really well together.

Was is it, 100 years after Aliens/Alien 3 ? Roughly.

A prequel would be good. The crew came to the conclusion that the ship the Aliens came on was a salvage ship so that would be a cool, working class, crew to follow the exploits of and see how they came across the creature.

One thing I'm wondering now. I don't remember Dark Horse resoliciting the TPB of this series. It was originally solicited for Nov. Obviously the delays prevent that. Dark Horse have it listed as March 21st now, I think,  definitely March. Usually delays mean the book is resolicited. Did I miss that ?

The timers are curious in that they don't really follow on the surface but I think they're for different things.  I really need to study them more closely.  The basic plot seems to be all about Wassy going EVA to grab a stash of smokes.

4:02:50
4:02:49

Then last page goes:
4:02:43

I think 4:02:43 was supposed to be 4:02:48.

4:02:52
4:02:51
4:02:50
4:02:49

Then last page goes:
4:02:43
4:02:47
4:02:46

etc.

I think 4:02:43 was supposed to be 4:02:48.

Yeah it's strange

Perhaps Wassy held his breath and the timer adjusted.

I am - the issue in the hive is possibly the best single issue of any Aliens comic, the art is Beauvais-level good, and the writing is generally pretty good.  But it falls away towards the end when it's revealed Church is just another nut.  On more recent readings I can't help but think it was a great opportunity to turn convention on its head.

And Crespi suffers from 'believing the last thing he was told'itis.
Title: Re: DH Announces Aliens: Dead Orbit (April 2017)
Post by: Russ840 on Dec 19, 2017, 12:15:25 PM
I had this idea that Scott should adapt Labyrinth into a covenant sequel. The covenant could replace the station for the comic and David could be Church. His flash backs could be to his time between Prometheus and covenant. He could be experimenting with the colonists and what not. Some he has awoken could be the parallels to Crespi and the female character. That sort of thing.

I love all of Labyrinth but I do agree that Church didn't have to be so looney at the end. I would have played the story out the same way but had church be a lot more level headed and make him almost justified.

Yeah, people rave about that one, but if you take out the absolutely stellar flashback, I honestly think the rest is pretty mediocre, which is a big shame.

I can't agree there. I love all of Church's findings that he reveals to Crespi. I love the grim ending. I love the art but for me art is such an important element. Good art elevates a comic massively for me. Added to that a well written piece, Then I am a happy puppy.

The flashback is truly awesome.

More of the same huh?

It didn't really seem to catch me.  Mind you, I do love zany intricate stuff, but only if it tells a part of the story.  As an example Geoff Darrow's and Frank Miller's Hard Boiled graphic novel was full of intricate illustrations, where 1 illustration may have a 100 separate things happening in it, but all of those things add to the story.  In Dead Orbit, I just found that the illustrator couldn't stop his pen.  Maybe if I see this in bound format, it will read better?  Sigh... Yeah, I'll buy it.  I'm a slave. ::)

Nah my point was more, if you didn't care for issue 1, don't waste your money and time on the rest.  I found the intricate style a refreshing change from the less detailed stuff in Life & Death.

Great listen guys! This series was superb! Hopefully Dust to Dust turns out just as good. I do think everyone lowballed the series but I tend to automatically think of scores as a grade and 8 out of 10 or 80% is a B minus, 7.5 would be a solid (average) C and Xenomorphine's 6.5 would equate to a D (below average) I thought this story was literally Grade A and thus the acceptable minimum score should be 9 out of 10. But to each their own! The podcasts that focus on the expanded universe tend to be my favorites so please keep them coming. Cheers!

Been looking forward to this podcast and it didn't disappoint. Great listen lads.
F**king loved this comic. The wait between issue 3 and 4 was unbearable. This is just what the series needed in my opinion, a stripped down story about surviving a xenomorph and a desperate attempt to get the last packet of cigarettes. Incredible!
Loved Wassy and some of the shots of the alien where beautiful. The aliens in life and death didn't do it for me but Stokoe got it right. Just like Tristan in defiance. That final fight on the hull of the station was just the best thing ever and the ending.....perfect.
More of this please Dark Horse.
My only problem now is that Dead Orbit has worked its way into my top 5 Aliens comics of all time. Which means one of my beloved is being relegated to number 6. I mean honestly, how do you decided between Dead Orbit and say........Lovesick ;D

So I ended up buying this.  I find this story to be a mixed bag.  Firstly, it is isolated from the core story so it has no context.  It stands alone entirely.  Some like this, others, not so much.  I am among the latter, but that does not bear much impact on the overall tale.  There were many moments which echoed the major films.  From an Alien popping up out of the floor (as per Hudson's fate), to life-pods frying people (Covenant) upon awaking, to other eye roll inducing cliched moments.  Perhaps what bothered me the most were the often caricatured expressions of the characters.  That always takes me out of the horror of the moment when the characters look like cartoons or caricatures.  The story jumped a lot also, and I often found the characters to be repeating the exact same phrases which was odd.  HGK! anyone?

That aside, the story is interesting.  Perhaps of all of the Aliens comics ever put out, this was the one that felt the closest to Walt Simonson's Alien: The Illustrated Story which is a good thing.  I do like that Dark Horse allowed someone to just run with their own unique take on an Alien story in its entirety.  It is a completely singular vision of the author artist and that is cool.  I will have to give this book more thought.  Perhaps it will grow on me over time.

I got this in the mail on Tuesday and read through it in one sitting on Wednesday.

On the whole I was kind of underwhelmed. I think the comic spent just a little too much time showing people say "HGK!" over and over rather than actual meaningful content. The art style was a little hit-or-miss for me - the environments were detailed (which I liked) but they were almost a bit *too* "busy", and I didn't care much for the character designs.
It also took me a moment at first to figure out when the story was jumping from the "present" to the "past" - I think something in the corner of the page for each transition saying "NOW" and "THEN" to make it clearer wouldn't have been amiss.

I don't regret reading it at all; the art style was unique and the overall story was neat (and the way each of the Aliens was defeated was clever without being unrealistic), but it's certainly not my favorite Aliens comic of all time.

Finally picked up the TPB today. I would love to see the original pitch turned into a full blown series. Using Wey-Yu mercs to "contain" outbreaks seems more plausible than having colonial marines constantly encountering the creatures. Still love the story we got though!

Just bought it today, will start reading it soon.

Edit: punched through it in one sitting: great comic. Contrary to many I prefer the more claustrophobic experience over the Colonial Marine experience which we've got plenty of and most of them missed the mark IMO by simply repeating what Aliens did but less subtly structured.

The structure of the comic, going back and forth, helps the story a great deal in terms of tension and drama. Love how Stokoe used the enviroment halfway the story and it is both horror and terror.

Would certainly like to see more comics in this vein.

Agreed! And Stokoe did a great job of using visual cues conveying a plausible memory trigger for Wassy which further smooths the narrative transition to the past. Really well done comic series. It seems Dark Horse is really upping the caliber on their stories and I hope that trend continues.

Yeah, that was something that I think worked really well too. I think it got a little confusing with the action in the fourth issue but a few re-reads sorted the order of events for me.

Post by: Xiggz456 on Apr 23, 2018, 02:07:25 PM
Indeed I've also found re-reads further smooth the present to past transitions. I don't think we've ever seen an Aliens story that jumped between past and present like that (The closest may be Isolation with its data logs backstory) which is yet another reason this story stands out.

Here is a link to some pics of an advanced copy of the fancy pants Hardcover.

Really looking forward to this and nice to see the uncoloured pages in there.

I can never seem to upload pictures. I am useless at this sort of thing lol.

WIP ? Work in progress ?

Yeah it's the inked pages before Stokoe colours them.

I am hoping the page that I own is included as well.  Will be nice to see the page next to it published.

Nice one dude.

I think this may be an instance where keeping the TPB, as well, is a good idea. I am under the impression that the 'original pitch' content from the Trade is not included here.

Title: Re: DH Announces Aliens: Dead Orbit (April 2017)

No real evidence beyond there being no mention of it in the books description. The page count is 120 which is only 16 pages more than the trade but one of the features for this release is the uncoloured art. Which I would imagine will easily take up that 16 pages. It talks like it includes a lot.

Just an assumption really. Be nice if it is inclusive of everything.

I sincerely hope not, because one of the reasons I've held off buying this until now is the assumption this would include everything.

Like I say. It's just an assumption because I have seen that sort of thing before with multiple format releases.  There is no actual evidence to support it.

So I have been through the Fancy pants and the only additions to the standard trade are the uncoloured pages, of which there are 7 and all four of the issue covers in the gallery as opposed to only issues 3 and 4 which the trade featured.

Of the uncoloured art pages, one  is the pencils of the new cover for this collection and the other 6 are pages from the final issue.  I was hoping the page that I own would be in here but its not which is a shame.

All content from the trade is otherwise here. Unchanged.

One extra note.

The countdown in the final 2 pages of the story has been fixed and now makes sense.

The art error(?) with the Alien's arm, late in the story, remains untouched.

This collection is definitely the best way to experience this comic. The oversized pages really do Stokoe's work justice.

There's one in Dead Orbit too.  Couple of panels when the final Alien is blasted into space it regains it's previously missing right arm.

Oooooh!! I never noticed that. Thanks for this. Going to have a squiz at my trade version now.

Not saying this is the case but I remember Ridley saying how the crushed Protomorph in Covenant would've regrown it's torso or something ridiculous like that.

I'm in the process of re-reading this because it didn't do a whole lot for me the first time around... and I'm still not exactly feeling it. I think the thing that makes me roll my eyes the hardest is the "HGK! HGK!" (or "HEF. HEF. HEF.") thing over and over throughout the book, it overstays its welcome almost immediately. And the way Stokoe draws faces reminds me of the band Gorillaz, and that's not exactly a good thing.

I'd actually agree with that. I do appreciate the simple story told well, the detail in the artwork and the nice atmosphere generated, but Xenomrph's points stand with mine as well.

Though I actually enjoyed it a bit more probably, but I don't find it perfect and enjoy other comics a lot more. Still, IMO it's better than half of Fire and Stone, all of Life and Death and we'll see how the new Amanda stuff goes...

You're thinking of a different game, one of the 'Alien3' games came out on the Sega Genesis. The game SM linked was the coin-op Aliens arcade game.

Also I finished re-reading 'Dead Orbit'. "HGK!" is said 108 times (yes, I counted), and they're all in the first half of the story.

Probably not coincidentally, I enjoyed the second half of the story a lot more than the first.

Cool, kind of looked the same though. I must have played it in the arcades, although I played in arcades mostly in 86-89 so possibly not. Liked the Aliens game shooter coop also.

Enjoyed that game on Sega Genesis console, was it Sega Genesis?, can't remember much before 1998.

It's the sound a person makes when they're choking.

Or running.

Or checking their bank account online.

Or literally anything, based on how heavily Stokoe uses it.

I really don't get why it bothers people. They are panting. It happens.

I'd have been less bothered by it if it was used more sparingly, it just got distracting and dragged the whole thing down.

If that's the sound of panting I guess it's ok lol. How many pages did it last though?, I need to give that TPB a 2nd read some day.

Sounds like the first carrier in Covenant.

It goes on for pages sometimes. Like I said, over 100 times in the first two issues.

I read both this and Dust to Dust last night, and I gotta say -- I loved this dude's artwork, especially his work on Godzilla, very cool stuff. In fact it's probably the closest we'll ever get to an Aliens manga, because his art echoes that of Katsuhiro Otomo and Masamune Shirow.

Speaking of which I loved how he revealed his pitch to Dark Horse with the Colonial Marines navigating that labyrinth complex during a Xenomorph outbreak. That had the potential to be an even crazier piece of work.

In the bonus content to the paperback. He includes some pages of finished art and talks about the process of said pieces. The facility that this all took place in was supposed to be large and extremely elaborate hence the term 'labyrinth', made worse by an earthquake that presumably released their Xeno captives.

I'd love Stokoe to come back and do another comic based on his original pitch.

I lap his work up. Has any read Wonton Soup. It has some great little Alien/s references in it.

It follow two space truckers that have chef related adventures. It nuts.

Just ordered the deluxe hardcover version of this, since it was easily my favorite of the Dark Horse comics in recent years. Wanted to make sure I got it before it goes out of print in light of the recent Marvel news.

The likely hood is that Marvel will reprint all the Dark Horse stuff.

But you made the right choice because Marvel's collected editions quality is no where near Dark Horse's level. And at an excellent price point.

Yeah, I'm sure it'll get a reprint at some point under the Marvel label. But the DH hardcover for this one, with all the backup bonus material, just looks so nice. And it is definitely my favorite of the Aliens stories post-Dark Horse's most recent continuity reboot, so I want this one for my shelf for sure.
