I took that differently.  I read into it as "Wake me...when you need me."  As in, Bungie's way of saying the saga isn't over.. Chief will always be around until we "need" him again.  If you beat it on Legendary..or Youtube the video like I did.. then that extended ending further supports that idea.

I didn't say it wasn't a love story.. but rather was directly addressing the quotes.  It still could have a different meaning.. That is just how I read into it.
