So this looks like Riddles next project after all...

QuoteSir Ridley Scott is directing the film adaption of Queen & Country.

It was reported last month that the British filmmaker was in talks to helm the project, based on the Oni Press comic book written by Greg Rucka, and now he's confirmed to Yahoo Movies that he's hard at work bringing it to life.

"Oh yeah, I'm kind of already knee-deep," Scott said, speaking for the first time about his involvement. "It's a very good piece of writing, to begin with.

"Frequently in these things, I know I shouldn't say because I'm gonna get misquoted here, but comic strip things are certainly lacking in making sense, or dialogue, but this one has really been very well adapted."

The comic book centres on British spy Tara Chace, an operative of the Special Operations Section of SIS (Mi6) known as "the Minders," who embarks on dangerous missions to protect field operatives while dealing with the bureaucracy and politics that comes with the job.

I was just going to open new thread about this news. You outran me 8th :) Anyway, it's gonna be first Scott's movie based upon comic.

Scott also said:
QuoteThere's nothing like a great story to attach to a Bond film right?" he said. "She's not exactly Bondish, but she's a female version. Could she kick his ass? Probably.

Gonna order Queen & Country The Definitive Edition Volume 1. Reviews are positive.

I wonder who's going to play Tara Chase. I guess it's gonna be Jessica Chastain or more likely Margot Robbie. Any thoughts?

Ha, ha... I believe the term is "ninja'd". You got yourself ninja'd!  ;D

I would have recommended Ms. Vickers but she has already appeared in something very similar:

I think you previously mentioned Margot Robbie as a good candidate?

I've never heard about ninja'd :)

Yes I mentioned previously about Margot, but she might be busy working with Tarantino in the nearest future. On the other hand Once Upon a Time In Hollywood is due to be released in August 9, 2019, so there is a chance for her knowing how fast Scott works. She received nominations for Oscars, Golden Globe and BAFTA for I, Tonya. She's great actress not to mention that she's charismatic, young and attractive. Female Bond.

And you're right, Theron is Atomic Blonde so probably she won't be even consider for a role.

Funny that you should mention Chastain because she just signed up to star in an all-female spy thriller titled 355. So I guess we can also count her out along with Charlize. Pity though, I liked her performance in The Martian.

More at https://screenrant.com/jessica-chastain-female-spy-film-cast/ along with a brief mention of Scott's Queen & Country.

It's May and nothing is officially confirmed yet. As far as I'm aware Scott planned to start his new project at the end of 2017 or beginning of 2018. Looks like Scott's very busy with other stuff like productions or he's up to something. My gut tells me that we can forget about Wraiths of the Broken Land and The Cartel.

Burlesque? Is Scott making a musical?

QuoteA burlesque is a literary, dramatic or musical work intended to cause laughter by caricaturing the manner or spirit of serious works, or by ludicrous treatment of their subjects.[1] The word derives from the Italian burlesco, which, in turn, is derived from the Italian burla – a joke, ridicule or mockery.

No, burlesque dancers are basically showgirls that perform at casino's and ye olde-style-western saloons and such.

Assuming the tweet is truthful and assuming it's not just a movie that is merely being produced by Scott it might be Queen & Country as 007 style spy thrillers often feature casinos. The Cartel might also be a possibility. Or it might just be a load of nonsense.

Did Wraiths of a Broken Land have any saloon scenes?

As far as I remember yes. I wonder if it's Scott's another project or he's just a producer.

QuoteSylvia Hoeks is being eyed for the lead role of super-spy Tara Chace. Described as a "brilliant and emotionally detached woman," Chace was brought up by her father in the Scottish wilderness and was later recruited out of Cambridge to join British intelligence. Her exceptional skills allow her to become a "Minder," a special kind of assassin who takes on the most dangerous of assignments. But as her colleagues begin to die and her superiors betray her, Tara finds herself all alone in Saudi Arabia attempting to take down an entire terrorist cell.

Last year Ridley Scott made Hollywood history by replacing one of the lead characters in a feature film with another actor 4 weeks before it's theatrical release.

This year, the eighty-year-old Scott will up his game and shoot two different movies simultaneously across two different continents.

You heard it here first.

I hope he makes The Cartel, His Western, Battle of Britain or Alien: Covenant II.
