That's cool. Would never have thought of that. Is that a typical thing these days for games?

AVP2 has some replacement to Sierra Master Server if you want to check and keep playing it.
What's funny is that this game only had 2 and a half years of development and there were able to introduce more things than any other AVP/Alien/Predator game managed:

-Wide variety of weapons for each class (Unmatched yet)
-4 side instead of 3 taking the Weyland as a fully functional team. Even if some disagree that it was a good idea, I still love the fact you were able to play human vs human. This game just gave you choice! And you had so much you could do with it!
-It has every environment of every movie (Nostromo interior, colony ala Hadley's Hope, leadwork very influenced by ALIENĀ³ and even some segment of the Auriga was in the game).
-You could interact a lot more with the environment than any game every did in the licence: Ladder, Water, Vent, Doors, hackable object, torch-able in both MP and SP.
-The SP story was IMO genius by making each specie crossover at some point and interact on certain event from past, present and future within a very Cameron immersible atmosphere where you felt to be part of colonial marines.
-It had an SDK which allow the community to keep pushing the limit of the game even if developers/publishers stopped the support.

I could go on and on as I did with comparing AVP2 and AVP2010.
But is it anymore worth it?
I'm tired of having to fight constantly against the shit they manage to sell us.

Downloaded the master server patch now so I will give it a run at some point this weekend.

As for being tired of this crap, you aren't the only one!

How many DLC / Stupid bonus / Update / HotFix are we going to pay to get a full game functional?

Damn it makes me realize how much I loved AVP2.
Everyone had the same game, the same maps, the same class & character, a functional SP with minor bug and a MP that was enjoyable with a lot of diversity with a lot of maps and game mod.

:-\

Almost all video games released these days turn out to be vessels for DLC, but not giving a proper ending to your story only for one to have to buy DLC to see how it ends is just a scam, plain and simple.

How I really wish AVP2's servers were still up, it is still the best Aliens experience to date in video game format, in both single and multiplayer (personal favorite being the alien life cycle mode), and this is from 2001 for f**k sake!
