This is my first post on the forums, so hello everyone.
Alien Isolation is an awesome game, I've played it on PC with an NVIDIA card and as far as I remember I had my fair share of BUGs. Most of them I've managed to ditch with the help of others, therefore I've thought to write a little tutorial about it. Now, as I've understood the game has some issues with some NVIDIA drivers so I don't know how things are on other system configurations, although in my personal opinion they seam to be more related to defective game porting than other reasons. Anyways I hope this helps.
Here are the BUGs I've encountered and how I've dealt with them so I could eventually finish the game:
1. The most annoying and persisting BUG was
the loading game problem. This one consisted in a
black screen that freezes the game after you load it from in-game menu. To quickly get pass it press ALT+TAB and a window with a "close the application" option should pop out. To minimize this one you can
manually load the game from the main menu instead choosing the "
Continue Game" option. Loading the game this way, from the very beginning should seriously diminish the crashes experienced while loading a save from in-game. I've also understood that this specific BUG can actually be removed if you
"Turn Off" some video settings like "Depth Of Field" for example or rename your saves (search more on internet for this last fix).
2.
Getting a locked door while you try to
meet Taylor in the first mission. To pass this one, just
restart the game as it's the first mission and
go straight to Taylor, in your undies

,
without doing anything else, like getting dressed
. After this a) get dressed, b) meet with the android (Samuels I believe), c) go to the meeting on the deck Do it in this order and it should be alright.
3.
Getting a black loading screen after exiting the aliens nest in the mission that involves
starting the two reactors. To get passed this one,
turn all the video settings to Off or their minimal settings. Load the game on minimal video settings, get to the elevator that exits the nest (the 2 reactors chamber) and the permanent black loading screen shouldn't be a problem anymore. Save the game and exit to main menu. Change the video settings back to your preferred values and load it once again.
4. In the "
A Way For The Torrens To Dock " mission while transiting from "Seegson Communications" to "Solomons Habitation Tower" BUG. This one is the most discouraging as it gives you the feeling to abandon the game and it's also near the ending as far as I remember. Just by looking at the map while you're in Seegson Communications you can spot it as a BUG, as the transit elevator that leads to Solomons Habitation Tower is marked with a thin edged white circle bordered by an outer lined dashed circle. This marker is meant to indicate a search area rather than an objective, that's represented through a thick green circle with a pulsating white outer layer. So when you get to Solomons Habitation Tower, on the map pops out an objective that basically says you have to go back to Seegson Communications as you didn't actually find anything according to the search marker (even if there's nothing to be found, it's just misplaced markers) so it sends you back to find "nothing whatsoever" so you could advance further.
The solution for this one is no big deal. As you get to Solomons Habitation Tower the first time, there's a saving console in front of you just as you exit the elevator and a guard (or something) nearby that warns you about the fact you should leave so he won't shoot you. In this area there are three doors: two on the left just as you exit the elevator and another one on the right side of the saving console. First deal with the guard that threatens you quietly (using the stun thingy) so you won't attract the alien menace and open the furthest door from your left (as you exit the elevator) with an Ion Torch. In that room on a computer you'll find a code that's needed to open the door that's basically near the one you just opened using the torch. Enter the second room with the code you've just got, and in there you should find a computer that should open the door from the right side of the saving console as you exit the elevator (the one with a lever). Except the fact that the first time you're in Solomons Habitation Tower while doing the "A Way For The Torrens To Dock" it doesn't, so don't even go for that specific door, the one with the lever. What you have to do is going back to the elevator and go back to Seegson Communications. Just as you reach Seegson comunications use the elevator once again and go back Solomons Habitation Tower. You will notice that the guard you've killed on your first pass is miraculously respawned and if you look at the map you'll see the are you're in is marked with a searching circle and the marker that sends you back to Seegson comunications is no more. Ditch that guard once again, quietly of course, go for the door you've opened with the code and interact with the computer from that room once again. After this you can open the door with the lever and advance further.
Schematic Recap:
While in Seegson comunications >> take elevator to Solomons Habitation Tower >> open the door with the ion torch and take the code from the computer that's in that room >> open the door nearby with the code you've just obtained >> interact with the computer from that room >> take elevator back to Seegson comunication >> just so you can use the elevator once again to get back to Solomons Habitation Tower >> go in the room you've opened with the code and interact with the computer from the room for the second time >> open the door with a lever from the right side of the saving console, as you exit the elevator, so you could advance further.
SAVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.
I hope this helped. Despite its flaws Alien Isolation is an amazing game so don't discredit it to quickly.
