i tried to get Flareon but my Eevee evolved into a Umbreon, i like Umbreon(thanks to that i got through the Poke league YAY!) Umbreon is the highest level pokemon i have in and Ho-oh being he 2nd..XD

Pokemon got lame after they added to many monsters. The first 150 or whatever where great. Then the 2nd gen with the legendary birds was good aswell, but after they started making like "Baby pikachu" and stuff, it got lame. They over crowded their series with to many pokemon.

Playing SoulSilver. I'm trying to grind mah Pokemans at the foot of Mt. Silver for the Elite Four rematch, but it's taking ages. I don't suppose there are any better grinding spots?
I'm trying to get a full party of lvl. 65 Pokemon. With good item use and type advantages, it should see me through the Elite Four, even Lance's lvl. 75 Dragonite. Thing is, half my team is at lvl. 40 since I retired a few Pokemon that weren't doing me any good.

Do people over the age of 10 still get excited about Pokemon? I dont understand it at all. Never did when it all first kicked off either. I remembered reading the local paper and there was so little news to report that some kid actually made front page headlines because he was the first in the region to collect all the pokemon in the original game or something along those lines. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand?
All the pokemon nowadays look like complete shit. At least back when it first came out it felt like they actually tried..now they mostly look like a bunch of robots.

Already loving it. Gonna have to buy a 3DS now because of this. CHESPIN is already in my sights as my starter only because his look doesn't look awful. I love that the grass parts ways when encountering a wild Pokemon, that's pretty neat and adds to the excitement of seeing what Pokemon will appear. I love how some of the old school Pokemon are back, possibly the reason why I felt so nostalgic. Everything about it seems fresh. Platform sections like that part where he swings by the rope...and holy shit, that Fire Gym...f**king epic.
I'll probably go with the fire type starter, myself. May use the Grass starter when I play through a second time (Plan on getting both).
Just don't feel the water type. It's the only design in the entire trailer I didn't immediately love. Hopefully, in time it will grow on me. Hopefully.
I haven't been playing Pokemon in a long time (played sapphire for a while..I think, but I stopped after a while), but am I wrong to think that I saw that these starters had attacks that were of a different type? I saw this water type...Froakie? I think I saw some fighting type moves on him. Is this just me, or how long has this been common in the games? By that, I mean that I'm aware of Pokemon that had mixed types and stuff, but I had no idea that the starters were becoming mixed as well.

I think the mixed starters started back in Gen IV, don't really remember exactly when though. :P

Most fans, from what I've read, are speculating that the second type may be another type triangle the games have; Dark, Fighting, Psychic. The grass Pokemon being Dark, Water begin Fighting, and Fire being Psychic.

Interesting, it makes a reverse combat triangle. So you can use your secondary type moves against your rival's starter, neat.

I don't have any of the nostalgia for gen I or II, so maybe that's why I always seem to be more open to newer designs. I started with Gen IV, but have played all of the generations except for the Gen III games, in some way.

If they made a
Pokémon RPG, with the same story as the original games (say the fire three generations;
Red,
Blue,
Yellow,
Gold,
Silver,
Crystal,
Ruby,
Sapphire, and
Emerald) but for the Nintendo Wii U, with Current-Generation graphics, and the ability to:
- Travel to different regions.
- Collect ALL the Pokémon in the single game (including online features to get some of the Legendary types).
- Make the regions massive and give the player a lot to do.
- Feature a single storyline that stretches across the three regions without it getting to repetitive, and give the player the ability to somehow get their hands on the three starters.
- Have an online feature where you can roam about and battle friends and others online, and even choose a possible rival from your friends.
...well, then I would definitely cough up my money for a new
Pokémon game.
But, the likelihood of that ever happening is probably like a million-to-one, HaHa.

It's a nice idea, but like you said it's not very likely.

Perhaps instead of a remake of older gens, we'll start to get sequels of them instead.

I'd definitely be open to sequels. I think the problem I had with the continuing games as I got older was that I got sick of starting from scratch every time HaHa. But, I do see the appeal of the games. My brother always buys the new games, so I will check out
X and
Y, and I think the more 3D style is a lot better than the Birds-Eye-View style from previous games.
But...my wish is still that one day they will be the be-all-end-all game and include several regions and a continuing story. Or even if they did it like the
Mass Effect games, that when you finish one, you're save data and character carries over to the next.

Why would they remove the main way of getting any Pokemon and training? Without random wild encounters, the game just becomes "Choose one of three, want more? Sucks to be you. Want it to get stronger for the next gym, but you've already defeated everyone you can get to? Go cry about it loser. "

Well.. some times I just want to go somewhere fast without bothering with fighting other pokemons :laugh: They can put it as an option - accept random encounters always on: yes/no. I can press RUN but its too long to go to the battle screen everytime :laugh:
The option already exists. Just use a repel if it bothers you so much.
I never used Repel and I will never will! Why should I pay for something that should be an option? :laugh:
BTW about the "big" version of Pokemon - I remember now that Nintendo already stated their position about this. They will never release a Pokemon game from the Main series on PC, 360 or PS3 because they want to keep the original concept of POCKET monsters. So the main series will always stay on the handheld consoles (sadly).

I don't see what the problem is. It's no worse than any of the other Eeveelutions. I also doubt it's the normal evolution. It doesn't seem to.. Well, fit the pattern. With each other Eeveelution it's for the most part easy to tell what type it is. Were it a normal type evolution, it would be more like an Eevee. Instead, it's obviously not.
My guess is it's for a new type being introduced into the new games.

I don't think it's a new type, it's normal type most likely. There's a lot of normal types that are pink and white (chansey, jigglypuff, clefairy, snubbul, miltank, porygon, etc) and the move boosting items for normal types are silk scarf and pink ribbon, which Sylveon is wearing. It seems pretty obvious to me..

I honestly might get this. I got nintendogs with the first ever DS and this new thing is appealing to my inner child. :) Aside from that, it still looks pretty fun to me. I don't like a lot of the new pokemon, though...

That's not really a "Peral"/diamond scenario. They've been doing that since Gen 1 with yellow.

I just like the fact that we'll be getting some different versions of older pokemon. I never expected Stage 3 pokemon to undergo further change. So Charizard and Tyranitar....it's pretty cool/
Others like Absol and Mawile though...I'd rather they just evolve regularly. That's the only thing that saddens me.

This generation looks like a way bigger improvement than the last two or three. They finally moved to 3D graphics, that look excellent, the pokémon-ami feature is an excellent feature that completely fits with the concept, the fight against wild pokémon hordes is terrific, and now you can ride your pokémon on-screen with special graphics and animations.
The only bad thing about this is, in my opnion, the Mega forms. They are mega lame and mega boring =/

I agree that some don't have much changes, so it makes them a bit boring. But I don't have a problem with its in-game mechanic and all. We already had forms. These are just activated in battle. No big deal, really.

Well Mega Forms change properties. They up stats and change types. Forms are to give variety with stats, I guess. Having more options is never a bad thing. But yeah it is an odd approach. I'm growing on it though.

By old pokemon, I hope that doesn't include anything after Gen III.
It includes all gens. So far it's been a pretty even spread, though gen 1 and 2 seem to be a bit more in focus, likely due to Mega Evolutions.

I actually like most of the designs.
The only thing I don't like is the Mega Forms.
The only mega form I see myself using is Mega Blaziken, cause I just f**king love it. Maybe Mega Blastoise, but Idunno. The rest are okay, but unimportant to me.
Now if they do a Mega Haxorus, I just might use it.

By announcing a Pokemon game. They can honestly just do that with no new additions, and people will still buy regardless. This is Pokemon, it's gonna make money regardless.
What they could easily do is experiment more with the sequel dynamic, like with Black 2 and White 2. New stories in old regions. Gives the game a fresh feeling without the need of making new Pokemon to inhabit an entire region.

I was so heavily disappointed by the ending when I saw the special a few days ago. That's when I learned it was all some stupid marketing for the new game. I know that this is what this special was for, but did they really have to incorporate new features in the game in this fight? No, no they f**king didn't.
Other than that though, this special was f**king kickass, really brought me back to when I was playing the games.

Yeah, but the main character was not a great pokémon master. The idea of the character being not that much experienced is often used in the anime to allow the viewers to identify themselves with him.
Would work better if Red was able to do it on his own instead of that Super Saiyan thing that happened.

It's disappointing, but I'm still hyped for the game. 1 day!
Honestly, I kinda prefer fewer new Pokemon. While I don't dislike new designs as much as some people do, I don't think they should shove too many down our throat (Looking at Black and White. No old Pokemon and almost solely new ones was a bit too much.)
Though I do feel, with three completely different regional pokedexes in the game, they could have added a few more.
I kind of disagree Knight, I thought B&W were a nice chance for people unfamiliar with Pokemon to start somewhere fresh and new. I know next to nothing about the third and fourth gens so this did help me get back into Pokemon with only having to know the new ones.
I can see that point, but I don't think an entire region of new Pokemon was required for it.
Maybe I'm just weirdly opinionated, though, having started with Gen IV. It had old and new Pokemon, and it still drew me into the series just fine.

On topic though, 70 does seem low, but given the 3D graphic transferring I am not that surprised.

I think that is an exaggeration. I get where they're coming from, though. It feels like a fresh experience, aside from the basic battling rules. But even then they feel cool because it's mixed with Pokemon Stadium-like battles.
What I have read is that the main criticism is that the game is short and there are not many areas to explore.

I haven't been through most of this thread, so this might've come up, but:
Anyone else find this generation ridiculously easy?
You get the EXP share pretty much right off the bat and a Lucky Egg handed to you less than halfway through the game. For the first time ever I was a clear ten levels above the Elite Four and didn't ever come close to losing against any of them. Or the champion.

Will the Poketransporter be compatible with Soulsilver version?
For vitamins such as Iron and Zinc, does the effect on the pokemon's base stats carry on through evolutions or does it reset with each evolution?

Not to mention maxing out a Pokemon's affection for you in Amie gives them boosted EXP. Traded Pokemon that have max affection level up ridiculously easy. And then plus the Exp Share and Lucky Egg...
Most of it just comes down to how you play. If you use things like the Lucky Egg and EXP share then yeah it's gonna be easy to level up, but they are optional.

I've been playing SoulSilver on my DS lately, mainly for nostalgia. Gen 2 was my favorite back in the day, and the last one I played seriously. I love the remake so far, and I have a solid, if at times frustrating team. I have a Quilava, a Beedril, a Haunter, a Flaafy, a Togetic, a water type I nicknamed Mr. Pink, and Swinub I keep switching in and out. I'm on Clair's gym at the moment, and I've beaten everybody but her.
i just don't know these new pokemon and lot of the designs seems just weird to me. what happened with the good old pokemons? :(

First two gens had their fair share of mediocre pokes. We were just fascinated by the whole idea of Pokemon. They DID have a knack for making incredibly simple designs pretty cool, though. Like Ghastly and such.

Love the designs for (Mega?) Groudon and Kyogre. I'm hype as f**k.
Kinda wish I had played the gen 3 games before this though but oh well.
A lot of people are speculating that this is a sequel set in Hoenn again.
I don't think those are megas. They would've discovered them when they finally hacked X and Y. Even if they were new forms they would've discovered those in X and Y because the games are supposed to be compatible.
I'm pretty sure we now know how we're getting the Latiosite and Latiasite stones. They were waiting for this release.
I'm excited about the contests! Not only how cool they can look now but if you're able to contest battle opponents online that would be great.
Nintendo might have one hell of an E3 show between all the Smash Bros. news and unleashing gameplay from these. They skipped last year so I think they're ready to ge back in the game. Probably another big title wil be announced or shown. I wonder...

Why is Groudon the inferior one, typing wise? I'd think that Groudon and Kyogre would be able to counter each other very well, seeing as how they're basically Leviathan and Behemoth from the Bible...But why would they make one that is, at least typing wise, so vastly superior to the other?

I will admit, Gen 3 was probably my least favorite gen in the series. (Don't get me wrong, I f**king loved it because it's pokemon.) I liked Treecko and I liked Torchic. I just didn't like Mudkip at all.

I was actually surprised we got new megas. That means we're getting them through update, which I really didn't think they would do. I'm a bit glsd though. Takes all the fun away when people hack into the games and find out the hidden Legendaries, Forms, and recently Megas. That's how people found out about the Latios and Latias megas. But now they can say F U to those people and surprise us all. They can actually hold on to pokemon designs for later release instead of pre-packaging everything already in the cartridge.
I say that because I assume the new games will be compatible with X and Y.

No way it'll come to 3DS, they'd have to downgrade the graphics along with having to redesign the controller layout which would be much easier with the extra shoulder buttons the Wii-U would allow. Also with this clearly running with the engine used in previous Tekken games and seeing as this is an initial arcade release like most fighting games made in Japan it's straight to consoles after that. :P
Besides Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire be coming to 3DS already. :P

So I finally got a 3DS and Omega Ruby and X. I just "completed" White (I'm skipping B/W 2 for now) a few days ago - as in E4, got the Sages and etc and I'm about 2 hours into X. It looks so different. I'm loving it. It took me back a little at first but I'm really digging the new style.

It's not as if you'll find Mewtwo in your local park - all you'll get is loads of Pidgeys and Rattatas. The big ones will be in hard to reach places. I wonder if you can actually level them up when you catch them. I never really thought about using them to battle. I'd imagine they must give you one Pokemon to start with.

I downloaded the apk last night but couldn't log on. The official website seems to be taking a beating. Not been able to reset my password.
I got a big haul this morning on my to work. I got a Spearow and Pidgey. Then I got a Drowzee in my cemetery. A Ratatta a bit later but then I bagged a Pidgeotto at the bus station. Then the servers went down. Definitely a lot of fun though. It does drain you battery a lot though, obviously. I can see why Nintendo brought out that little device. I wish it was a little cheaper. We need to have a crowd-sourcing site so we can map where the creatures in the entire world. Did you know time of day actually effects this too? I've heard you might see some ghost types such as Ghastly at night time.
The bracelet only buzzes when you're nearby though? Are you walking around with the game open, looking for them? I really hope I can get on tonight.

From what Ive played so far, it hasn't notified me when Pokemon are nearby, that can only be done by looking at your phone. There are about 3 warnings saying 'Look where youre going when playing!!' so I think its only when the screen is active.

There's a Battery Saver option in the settings which apparently disables the display but keeps the app running and vibrates when you're near a pokemon. I've been walking about with the phone on. Managed to get a Voltorb before the battery gave out today.

i live in a fairly large city and i work on a busy street, there are pokestops on EVERY corner. 2 are within range from my own apartment. So far just from average wandering around the city to and from work and the local bar i've managed to get a bunch of different pokemon.
I'm at level 5 now so I can battle some gyms. Looked at a few nearby and they're pretty high levels. Going to have to keep catching and evolving them.

I'm at level 15 now but only 45 in my pokedex. Saw a Pikachu the other day but he escaped before I could capture him. Despite the numerous bugs and server problems, The radar thing still isn't working for me. But I'm enjoying it a lot. Been going around to different gyms. Been for a few long walks. Seems very hit and miss whether I see something new or not.
I'm so happy the immense popularity that it's getting though. Hopefully, Nintendo will start to take mobile games more seriously or even just releasing their games on other platforms. They'd make way more money doing that than they would their own systems.
One thing's for sure, playing this game revived my interest in Pokemon that died off when I was a kid. I actually can't wait for Pokemon Sun and Moon to come out so I can get the Moon version. I'm actually going to get a 3DS for the first time just so I can play it.

When the green circle and white circle meet? When the green circle is midway between the white circle and the centre? When the green circle is at it's smallest? Every source seems to have a different theory.
As long as you hit the thing, I don't think it increases your chances. I've noticed if you get it in the green circle exactly, you get an XP bonus.

Getting the ball within the green circle will give you an xp bonus like Darkness said. The smaller you let the circle close and manage to get the pokeball inside it, the more xp you'll get. I don't think it increases you're chances of capturing the pokemon though.

So apparently they did a limited anime based on the game/manga.
Here are some tips I've picked up or learned:
- Rather than pop bubbles at Pokestops, just close the window after spinning it. It'll pick everything up anyway, the popping does nothing.
- Putting on the battery saver mode and turning the phone upside down makes the screen go black. This combined with turning off sound and only lifting my phone when it vibrates saves a lot of juice.
- Catch and save all the common pokemon, then use a magic egg and evolve all of them in that time giving double points. Each one gives you 1000 XP, and I levelled up twice doing this after saving up lots of pidgey candy. Using Incense at the same time also gives you lots of extra XP.
- Always let the title and photo load fully when at a pokestop. I find spinning before this gives you nothing, and you are then told to 'try again later'
I'm sure you all know the Eevee and Pikachu trick so I wont bother posting that.

I encouraged my wife to play it (sadly I don't have time myself) and the game is amaizing!!!
My last pokemon was Emerald, so I guess the difference is bigger for me but still the amount of work done to achieve this is jaw dropping. I even started to paint my own pokemon ;D

Called it quits on Omega Ruby the other night. Was at the Battle Maison so don't think I'd got anything left to do. I picked up Black 2 recently so I've gone back to that. I must say, the new generation was far easier than the last. I remember White being a bit of a slog at times and I thought Y felt easier. Having gone back, I'm thinking the same. They made the newer generation a bit easier.
They're all too easy. They actually introduced a Hard mode on Black 2 but only after you've beaten the game on normal difficulty. Higher gym levels etc. This is why is prefer playing the modded games - fan-made hacks that make the games harder.
Really? I'm sure White was substantially harder than X or Omega was. And Black 2 definitely feels that way so far. More XP slogging than the others.
Remember Pokemon Yellow and how much grinding you had to do to beat the first gym leader Brock. Yellow was much harder than Red/Blue.
That was only because you were stuck with a starter that was shit against rock.
Bugs would have been easy to get though and they'd have seen you through Brock. I'm going to pick up the Yellow code soon (still have the original but all 151 but don't want to touch the cartridge, I'd never get Mew again :laugh: ) and hopefully the lass is going to get me the code for Blue for my birthday later this month.
Sun and Moon demo is out later this month, features a special Greninja you can transfer to the main game.

I really can't stand Pokemon. It is such an overrated game and franchise. When I was a child I remember Red and Blue did not really meet my expectation in terms of its battle system but I tolerated then accepted it as I thought the Gameboy would not meet the requirement.
When Gold and Silver came out I passed from getting the game because of the same reasons but gave in to trying it out and was quite pleased with the content and newly introduced elements.
I had the same expectations when Ruby and Sapphire came out and was very disappointed that a lot of those elements and content were not brought over from Gold and Silver whilst reverting to the old Red and Blue formula. I then expected Diamond and Pearl to fix this but they didn't.
Picked up Black and White and stopped playing half way through which was a first. Their sequels suffered the same fate. It finally reverted to me at least hoping that they would follow the same vain as Gold and Silver as I had given up all hope on a new refreshing title.
Got my hands on X&Y as well as Omega and Alpha. I got really into it due to the multiplayer until I felt that hatching eggs was a waste of time.
Distracting me away from the fact that it is the same game with updated aesthetics is what really downright pisses me off about the series. I find myself buying them under the impression that its core would be changed but that never was the case.
I also can't find myself stating that I don't like the game without getting attacked by mobs of people whom try to defend it by attacking me personally. I honestly would say that the game's battle mechanics should be expanded upon in more depth than the down-to-the-bone-turn-based-strategy only to have my words turned to me wanting Pokemon Street Fighter and that I am a tasteless faggot (sic). ::)

Final Fantasy is such a perfect precursor of what the games should aspire to be what with how much inspiration the first generation took from it. A lot of the more memorable Nintendo titles always took a plunge to try and do something different and succeeded. Final Fantasy on the PS platform is a good example; Mario on 64 is another one; Zelda also did this on the 64 console; my personal favorite was Metroid to Metroid Prime. But Pokemon is a lot like Fire Emblem where no matter what sequel comes out it becomes as forgettable as the last. They really had their opportunity with the 3ds console but they ended up making a Pokemon Colosseum 2.0 and although the 6th generation will probably be memorable it's still far from the series' peaking grace.
Honestly it just needs to be rebooted completely with a large team behind its production when that day comes.
Also, yeah, quite embarassing to be such a stubborn consumer but I always felt optimistic that big change was just around the horizon. I always felt so convinced that the games would be different only to fall on the aesthetics when they never delivered. I will not buy Sun and Moon because unfortunately most of the game will just copy and paste the Kalos region along with this Alola region. The Alolan region based on most of the information that is out there is going to be just like an essential mini-map region. :'(

I don't mind the cold, it's just been getting too dark for me. I like to go for walks around this trail near my end but not in the dark. I'll be happy when I can go out after work.
Recently started up Moon again so now I'm doing all the Ultra Beast missions. I caught all the Guardians before taking a bit of a break.
I really want to pick up the DS remakes of Gen 2 but they're so expensive for second hand games. Nearly 40 quid.
They're going to be bringing out different times of day and weather effects too in the future. Supposedly that happens now where certain pokemon are more likely to come out at night.
New 3DS games out in November, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. So Black and White 2 situation from the sounds of it. I had been expecting/hoping for a remake of the Diamond and Pearl generation. They're re-releasing Silver and Gold digitally on the market place.
And Pokken 2 on the Switch.
They were rumoured to be porting Sun and Moon to the Switch. Damn them. Everybody is crying out for a console RPG but they still waste their time doing off shoot games.

It's funny the people you meet. We were doing this raid last Saturday. Taxi driver pulls up with his kids and asks us if we finished the Tyranitar raid. We had and we said there was another level 4 raid nearby we were going to walk to. He offers us a lift and five us are are in the back of the taxi and do the Venusaur raid.
There's a big Pokemon Go event in Chester next weekend. I was thinking of going to it but it looks like there won't be any exclusive pokemon for the place. Though Legendaries are possibly coming globally around that weekend.
I believe the re-release of Gold and Silver is this Friday.

I've done about 5 or 6 trials so far. I admire them for trying to do something different but the game is way too easy. Like every game in the series.
Some improvements I do like. Like how it tells you what moves are most effective on the battle screen. And the battle environments match your location perfectly now. The on screen map is nice too.

Don't know if this is your thing, Hicks but McDonald's are doing a pokemon promotion in their happy meals. You'll get one out of a dozen toys and a promo trading card.
I remember when Burger King did this back when I was a lad. In the space of a month, I must have 20 happy meals just to get the free toys.

Finished the elite four now on Ultra Sun so I'll think I'll be calling it quits and selling my 3DS. Meh, it has been tedious as hell trying to get that far. It's not a bad game but it's still the same old pokemon game I've been playing for 20 years. That, and handheld consoles in general, I just don't have time for them anymore.
My final team were Incinerator, Poliwrath, Hawlucha, Glalie, Ampharos and Metagross.
They're formulaic, no arguing there. I still manage to enjoy in spite of, though. I just did the elite 4 on Diamond and I've now caught up on everything (not counting the original Ruby/Sapphire as I did the remakes, and not counting the Silver/Gold remakes as I did the original) before Ultra. I think I'll do some of the after game stuff on Diamond before moving onto Ultra. I don't really binge them though so I can't say I get fed-up of them.

Seems to be going down well.
Seems like a good game. I'm preoccupied with Red Dead 2 at the moment though. When I'm satisfied with that being devoured, I'll move on to Pokemon, Hitman 2 and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Theres' just too much gaming to keep a track of these days. A real problem!

Picked up the Let's Go soundtrack from one of the Pokemon Center's while I was in Tokyo. It's such a nice redo of the original music. I'm really enjoying it.
Finally finished Ultra Moon last night. Well, I say finished, I beat the League. Tried to go for a different team this time. Really really liked using Hawlucha. I've never used him in any of the previous games. Gonna do some post-game bits and then move onto Let's Go.
I finished Let's Go Eevee a few weeks back. I think it's a good sign of things to come with the new game this year but it was just way too easy. When I next replay the originals, I'd still go back to the GBA Fire Red.

Are you guys interested even slightly in Pokemon Masters? I believe it will blow GO out of the water, ez. Some people think it will be even better than Sword/Shield which are full fledged games and not mobile games.

Playing some gen-3 on my phone. It's really f**king fiddly compared to the first two generations, some of the improvements are great, but some are just pointless grind to keep you playing longer. I hate to think how complex/convoluted the current ones are now.
Anyone got any tips for successfully using cheats on gen 3 with MyBoy as the emulator? I really need a fire type and I'm not above spawning it.
Oh, the cheats work quite well. I used a modded version of FireRed and used cheats to get the desired pokemon at the start of the game. I think there's lots of action replay codes listed on various sites and you just add them into the emulator.
For me personally it was easier to mod my save on PC and then transfer the said save to phone :laugh:
I'm not understanding the "master code" stuff all the sites mention but don't fully explain. None of it seems consistent, and even the cheats that supposedly work without them come up as invalid codes. Cheating at gen2 was much simpler than this.

Yeah, I'm just gunna go for that. Interestingly I found that LeafGreen was a great update of the old material, a bit harder, some extra features, but Sapphire feels like a sysiphean task I'm gunna have to cheat at a bit.

I think most of the android emulators are using the same save format (or the majority of them at least). But keep in mind we are talking about game SAVES not save STATES. Some people are confusing the two, just saying lol
The new Pokemon Masters game is out on IOS and Android. Anybody played it? Won't seem to start up on my ipad.

I did finish Let's Go a week or so back. I know it's not the most complex of Pokemon games, but I enjoyed it. Really loved the graphical overhaul and getting to play it on the big screen.
What were your final team in Let's Go?
Eevee, Arcanine, Mr Mime, Venusaur, Pidgeot, Gyarados.
I think I had Eevee, Pikachu, Charizard, Lapras, Kadabra and Victrebell
Mime is definitely an odd choice. I tend to go for pokemon that can evolve so trade evolutions piss me off.

It seems to be getting decent reviews from everywhere.
EuroGamer didn't like it, but otherwise, yeah, seems to be going down well. My copy of Sword was shipped too.
So far so good. I managed to get Sobble, the watertype as my starter. I'm going to refrain from looking at any guides or pokedexes and just play it.
Yeah, I'm just playing it through without spoilers too. I went for Scorbunny. Just been in the Wild Lands, using all my Pokeballs up before I crack on to the city. Not digging the Dynamaxing stuff though. Just feels so unimpactful.
I'd like a Snorlax. They seem chill.

Finished Sword in around 20 hours.
It is definitely an improvement over previous entries but it's still the same game we played 20 years ago. How about some proper voice acting and cut-scenes instead of just lines of text? How about some caves or mazes like the Silph Road HQ? This is why I think Ni No Kuni is still heaps better than this. Watch out for the final trainer Leon. He has a couple of dragon types that rip your team to shreds. Make sure you have a ice-type in your team.

I definitely agree with you on both counts here. Now we've moved to an actual console, they need to be stepping it up with voice actors and actual cut scenes. It was fine on the DS, but not the Switch.
Finished the main game, just done the first little bit of the post-game. Not my favourite game of the series TBH, but it was ok.
No game will ever top Pokémon Red/Blue. I remember the days locked away in my bedroom for days on end on my gameboy classic. Did you play the majority on your tv or handheld?

Meh, it was exactly the same as the original movie frame by frame. Yes, the animation is nice but I don't think original movie was all that good. Way too much time was spent at Mewtwo's hideout. I thought Detective Pikachu was way more entertaining.

Yeah, it was about the time Nintendo started doing these pokemon spin offs. I remember I got Pokemon Stadium because you could transfer the creatures from the gameboy to the console. Snap came out just a few months after it in the UK. It was hard back then to justify paying £50 for a game. I seem to remember playing the ROM though years later.
Maybe I'm biased since me and my friends weren't interested in that game back in the day.

I also loved how you could play the GB game on your TV through Stadium. I still have my copy of Stadium.

The style is not that different from the original. That top down style perspective.
Not sure I'm keen on changing the catching mechanics in that Arceus game. Looks like you just throw the ball whenever with no battle screen.

I'm not really following Pokemon as much after Shield and Sword (I've flipped to Digimon) but damn, that looks nice.
Finished Detective Pikachu Returns. I like the voice acting and cutscenes but it's way too simplistic.
Started Pokemon Arceus. Wasn't going to but gave it a try. I like the real time stuff and this is what a Pokemon game should be where they're in the wild and all the battles are in the wild. It's a bit like Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Go where you have to complete catching tasks. I just wish Nintendo would have voice acting and cutscenes for a good story and it badly needs new hardware.
