Nightmare Asylum

Really wasn't sure where else to post this, since I guess it could be argued that it's only tangentially related, but Scott Wampler passed away today. If the name sounds familiar, that's because he used to write for Birth.Movies.Death. up until that publication folded a few years ago, and he prominently wrote a TON about Alien, seemingly literally whenever he had a chance to, including for BMD's much beloved Alien: Covenant special, which was my introduction to him and his writing (what an insanely cool magazine this is, I still have and cherish my copy):

Even with BMD having folded, he continued to write a ton about the franchise for other outlets, including Fangoria recently (love this article title so much ). Lots and lots of writing about Alien from him if you dig back through his Tweets or through the various outlets he's been attached to, and quite a few more direct connections to the franchise as well (him and Steve Asbell seemed to be very good friends, based on the constant online interaction).

Anyways just figured I'd drop this news here on the literature forums since I know back in 2017 so many folks loved that BMD magazine, and personally speaking, I can say that Scott's been a pretty constant staple in the little bubble of the internet that I've gravitated towards in the seven years since.

Rest in peace, he seemed like he was really one of the good ones. Going to miss seeing his posts, reading his articles, and listening to his podcasts. For fans of the franchise (or of film writing in general), comb through his old stuff. There's so much gold in there.

Rest in peace...

Will be sorely missed.
