I recently got the chance to see a brand new trailer for Prometheus. The video is one minute long and it’s a mix between brand new scenes, scenes from the Comic-con footage and the recently leaked trailer. Below you can find a detailed description of the trailer, make sure to click the read more button:
- The trailer starts with the 20th Century FOX logo. You hear a transmission. A woman (which I assume to be Rapace) is saying “…got to stop… was wrong.. so wrong…I’m so sorry…”. You can hear the last part very clearly.
- The first scene shows a spaceship (similar to the one seen in the first leaked trailer) flying towards a planet on the background.
- Next you see is the surface of a planet and some sort of facility. It kinda looks like a Lunar base to me.
- Now they show this scene from the Comic-con footage.
- You can see the film’s title forming in the background during most of the trailer. Pretty much like in the introductory scene of Alien.
- Next is the Ampule room. They show it off from all different angles and finally a close up of the ampules. Suddenly you hear a high pitch scream. It’s not human. It sounds like if it was from a facehugger. Then there’s a lot of smoke from what seems to be acid corrosion. They show a guy in a spacesuit. He’s alone. Screaming and putting his hands over his helmet. It looks just like the Kane/derelict scene in Alien.
- Now they show the same spaceship from earlier. Same shot as in the first leaked trailer. Flying towards what seems to be a different planet in the background.
- The next 2 scenes are from the comic-con footage. 1, 2.
- Now they show Vickers running across a hallway. Same scene as in the first leaked trailer.
- Next seems to me someone in a spacesuit. Driving a futuristic vehicle in some desert like surface. Heading towards some structure or facility in the middle of nowhere at full speed.
- An impressive shot of the Iceland waterfalls.
- Next is this scene from the comic-con footage. They seem to be shooting at something or someone but they don’t show it.
- Next you see is some grey-black serpent like creature. Jumping ala facehugger from some sort of grey-goo cavity. Now they show the whole scene. There’s two guys in their spacesuits. One lying on the ground (it seems to be the impregnated guy from earlier) and another one checking on him. The creature jumps from what seems to be the insides of the previous impregnated guy to the other one.
- Now they show someone with a expression of pain. The guy is still in his spacesuit and someone appears to be holding him in their arms.
- Now you can see a device or hologram of some sort. It looks like an atom or a planet. I’m not sure if it’s a planet or just some molecular structure tbh. The center of the hologram is a single sphere so it should be a planet system. Probably the coordinates to some other world.
- Now this shot from comic-con.
- Next is a spaceship being destroyed while in the air.
- One guy in a spacesuit pouncing at someone else while holding something. It looks like it’s going to hurt.
- Next is the space jockey room. Same as in the Comic-con footage. The center piece of the plate opens up and the space jockey chair rotates out of the ground.
- Next scene shows off a very inflated belly. Like if the person was pregnant but there’s something bigger than a chestbuster moving inside. Seems to be Rapace’s.
- Idris Elba yells while aboard of what seems to be the Prometheus.
- The sandstorm + Rapace spacesuit scene. Same as in the first leaked trailer. Close up of Rapace. She gets hit by the storm and she falls down a pit. It’s the scene depicted in the official still released around comic-con.
- Now you can clearly read Prometheus. The whole title has formed in the background. They show it for a few seconds.
- Now a close up of Rapace’s face. She’s in pain. It seems to be the same scene as in the first leaked trailer. The one with the green lasers scanning her belly.
- Now they show someone in a spacesuit looking at the derelict in the surface of a planet with clear skies.
- The words: “They went looking“
- The derelict again. It’s vertical to the ground. It would be impossible to enter it from the same place as in Alien.
- The words: “for earth’s beginning“
- Still on the same planet. The derelict (or something really big) seems to be falling down from above. The guy in the spacesuit is running away now. Trying not to get crushed.
- The words: “what they found“
- They now show two guys running away.
- The words: “could be its the end“
- They show the same guys again. Running away from what appears to be a huge Gigerish structure (it feels like it’s moving but it’s hard to tell). Perhaps the derelict in flight. There’s a lot of smoke. What appears to be debris on fire are falling from above. They keep running away from it.
- The music reminded me a lot of the one from Inception (the ‘horns sounds’). But mixed with what appears to be the music from the original trailer for Alien. Same music during all the trailer.

I'd trade flying cars and power laces for eye implants that allow you to upload what you see.
Where did you see said trailer? You're site staff, so was this a special treat for AvP?
FANTASTIC description. THANK YOU. Can't wait!!!!
That sounds a bit more exciting!
Nice tag line too:
"They went looking for earth's beginning - what they found could be its end"
Great stuff, thanks for posting.

I haven't posted a single piece of fake info in my entire time here. And I've posted a lot of stuff. It's not fake.

You're accusing of a member of the site staff, one that has been proven to be reliable many times, to be faking this shit?
Thanks ikarop for the info, can't wait for the trailer.
Was the tone of the footage noticeably darker than the EW stills released? Also, was the music a carbon copy of the version used in the teaser trailer for Inception or was it slightly altered? Also, do you think this trailer holds a candle to the original trailer for Alien?
Any idea of when the trailers gonna be released it sounds badass
Nukaz is hungry
let's get a link
I'd just like to correct Ikarop slightly. The music was essentially the same as that from the Alien trailer with the noises but I can hear the similarity to Inception. f**king awesome trailer too.

I can't tell. What I saw wasn't a direct feed video. And it has several scenes that seem to be a direct homage to the original trailer for Alien. But with much more action. The music is not a carbon copy. It's just reminds of inception. It's more raw and it's mixed with the music for the original trailer.
I shared this with the rest of the staff so anyone from us can answer your questions if you guys need it.
Did you hear the same heartbeats from Alien's trailer?
No heartbeat that I can tell.
Would you said that it was the same trailer that was leaked online? If not...give us more details! The excitement is killing me!!!
I just came all over my keyboard.
cant someone "anonymously" post it on you tube?.

My guess sounds like it's the original trailer sounds from Alien from your description, and a very Inception sounding soundtrack to the trailer, but trailers use music from other films all the time. So it could very well be the Inception music.
Would you say it sounds something like this Inception trailer?

Actually I'd say the chair is rising from the chamber floor while rotating.
It sounded very Inception like to me as well, but that BIG sound is used frequently these days.
And the adding of the original trailer sound from Alien is a VERY nice touch.
How did you get an advanced showing of the trailer? And if the rest of the staff saw it, that means it's stored on someones server.. With all the secrecy and security FOX has been so strict with to keep all this a secret, why would they leak a rather large, highly anticipated polished trailer to a fan site before showing it in a theatre, or on their own promotional site? I'm just confused by this. Not saying it's fake, but just wanting a little more explanation if possible. Thanks!
When do you think this trailer will be out? Rough guess?
No idea. I'd guess December but nothing solid on my part.
how was the cgi work so far? And was that hologram thing in the Prometheus or jockey ship?
QuoteThey show the same guys again. Running away from what appears to be a huge gigerish wheel. This wheel is also shooting at them what seems to be missiles.

Actually it think you're right. Maybe it's not a wheel at all. There's something behind them that's for sure. But it's hard to tell. It could be just debris on fire. They seemed to be aimed for some reason.

Hard to say. There weren't any gory scenes featured on the trailer so I don't know. It feels like a mistery/horror + action/adventure sci-fi movie. I guess it could be either at this point.

Nice work. I'm sure it won't be long until it comes out if it's making the rounds. If your watching a video that's not been released, not on a direct feed, then i'm not sure if that classifies as legal. Not that I care, I'd be lapping this shit up.

You could see what almost looked like the back of Jockey shoulders but it was unclear.

It's of extremely murky quality, unfortunately. You really can't make out much in the way of actual details. If a version of it is released, officially, it'll be of higher quality.
QuoteAlso, was the music a carbon copy of the version used in the teaser trailer for Inception or was it slightly altered? Also, do you think this trailer holds a candle to the original trailer for Alien?
It's quite '
Inception'-like juxtopositioned against the spooky atmospheric sounds from the first film's advert - together, they eventually end up forming this rhythmic, "BAHHH! Vwoooooh... BAHHH! Vwoooooh... BAHHH! Vwoooooh... BAHHH! Vwoooooh... BAHHH! Vwoooooh..." It's strangely effective.
I should also point out that there are some interesting little attempts at homeage in the audio style of it. When it starts off, you hear this weird 'tinkling of violin strings' sound, which you heard on the original film when the letters of the title came up.
Then the music starts kicking in. And also, when you hear the female voice saying she was wrong, it's done in the style of a radio transmission (all while the Fox logo unfolds through distorted image static). That part reminded me a little of Ripley's radio transmission - except with far more urgency and panic.
The way the title forms is also a direct copy of the original's.

There's nothing you can really know for sure is CGI. The quality's too bad for that. It could just as easily been some sort of other alien weirdness as a hologram, to my mind.

That's my feeling. The guy's just running out of the path of debris. It looks like they're parts from the ship which suffers a detonation in the atmosphere (don't see it get hit - could have been an accident) as it impacts the ground.
Don't know if the flying ship was the derelict - seemed different.

You really can't tell. If watching it because you're wondering about that, you'll still be undecided. The parts in the derelict look very authentic.

No way to tell what the certificate would be, but the mood it's going for is one of atmosphere and mystery, with a definite 'here be dragons' understone. There's an interesting shot of a woman from behind, pulling back from her standing in a part of her ship which seems like the Nostromo interiors in style and she simply drops to her knees. Not because of being attacked (unless it's a delayed poison). Got the impression that it's out of despair and a 'be careful what you wish for' moral.
The actual messages aren't narrated. They come up as words on screen. It's sort of like a film advert version of the '
Alien 3' credits, in so far as you get these very different shots interspersed with one another, interrupted by the text, building up momentum.
But that doesn't mean to say it's the direction of the film! It was probably edited together by completely different people.
All we can say with any certainty is that it's aiming for a futuristic Lovecraftian style. Has a mature tone.

Yes, feels very much so. But, again, the actual product might feel completely different. Jockey ship/facility is most certainly there, as is the famous chair. Also see flamethrowers used (but in a casual way, like they're being tested). The strangest thing is seeing it on the ground with the twin prongs pointing at the sky. It's literally forming a 'U'-shape on the ground.

There was absolutely no way to know! Believe me, I tried!
I disagree about hearing a facehugger sound. It seemed more like sudden violin music.
Something definitely goes on somebody's face, but the shot cuts immediately to something else. For all you can make out, it might end up being a red herring during the actual film. All you see is basically hands reaching up very quickly to face.
There
could be a tail, but it's extremely hard to tell - it could
also have been a large splash of liquid.
It's more fair to say that you get to see instances of sporadic
movement than anything which definitely resembles a living creature. If there are any, they hide them well.
There is
something which looks facehugger/chesburster-sized, which appears to leap up into the ceiling, but... It looks like something different. Different, but alive.
Someone's abdomen definitely inflates
very fast. No way to tell if it's the product of something quickly growing or suddenly moving down from the chest cavity. Could always be part of a dream sequence.
Rather exciting news :)
Hi guys, here is more of a general question if you would?
Is the trailer in the vein of modern trailers in that it is most likely highly spoilery and goes well into the third act of the movie? Rise of the Planet of the Apes goes deep into the third act and essentially spoils moments.
Is it to be avoided?
I don't think so personally. There are some very quick cuts, practically no dialogue.
Thanks.
I obviously won't be able to resist the first trailer but I know that there will have to be a line.
The Predators' campaign was ridiculous. From giving full bios of characters (which I didn't read) to showing multiple characters being killed in the trailers to showing some give scope shots. Then again Predators' was very very short on new ideas.

what exactly did carlos huante say? his work is very interesting, I remember looking at quite a lot of his work while at uni studying fine art.
Dont know exactly what he said, a friend took the class online.
He talked about Adam and Eve's "monster".
Something like this maybe...

When Ridley was talking about his 2 ALien Prequel scripts he also talked about how he was doing underwater research.
It would be pretty cool if there was a dive in this film at some point.
I don't think there is anymore of a need to continue replying back to Engineer1's post, since he's already taken it back.

Hmmmmmm, I wonder will we be seeing the Snake In The Garden metaphor.
The basic idea in Von Daniken's theories is to take mythical and religious ideas and to apply them to future technology and physical ideas. To take out the holy and spirituality and look at things from a scientific angle. So I'm wondering if there will be multiple religious/mythical ideas brought to life in a physical way in Prometheus.
I can't wait to see the trailer ::)
Hope this description is legit because that would be really awesome ;D

That's actually fairly plausible and it would fit in with what Ridley stated about having to go backwards, design wise, from what we saw in Alien. So when the xeno "serpent" comes into contact with a creature with limbs, we get the xeno as we know it. The head and tail are the constant aspects of it's design, regardless of host. Pure conjecture of course but a fascinating theory to be sure.

Well, from the description; clearly there's sound but in essence I agree. The previous trailer leak may as well have stayed "unleaked" as far as I'm concerned. That shit managed to make AVP: Reqiuem look as brightly lit as the sun. I've seen UFO conspiracy videos with better definition.
Still, not long till the official trailer hits now... ;D

Would be cool but it also doesn't make a lot of sense. If the xenomorph has a pure form. What would be the use of facehuggers. It makes absolutely no sense at all. Why does it need to impregnate a host if there already is a pure xenomorph form.
Or facehuggers should litterally squirt out a full embryo wich grows and adapts from its host. But again that wouldn't make sense because of the 2 sacks the facehugger has.
But if this is the creature before the existence of the facehugger. That jumps out of eggs and forces himself inside a host through the throath and then adapts. That would be possible.

Demigod!
One hint. Go Youtube and search and watch all the "Ancient Aliens" episodes and you´ll have a good clue about the movie.

I had the same thought and yet Ridley made that comment regarding working backwards from the facehugger. I guess when dealing with "gods" and the alteration of DNA, anything's potentially possible.
Maybe if this is the creature before the existence of the facehugger. That this creature jumps out of eggs and forces himself inside a host through the throath and then adapts. That would be possible. And later on when a queen is born/adapted (however you wanna call it) she will breed the facehugger eggs.
Btw, for those of you who haven't noticed yet, trailer's been leaked, and it matches the description in the OP!

Not sure what you're trying to say here. There are plenty of parasitical creatures in the animal kingdom and some of them require living host bodies in their first stage.
If you're wondering why a creature would adapt to a host's genetic template, it's generally thought that the reasoning for this would make them particularly adaptable to hunting the dominant prey of whichever world they're put down on.
Hey ikarop, if you've seen a better-quality version of the leaked trailer was there another planet in the backdrop of the lunar base?

This is the highest quality any of us have seen so far.
ikaropt uploaded the video, so I imagine the thing he saw was higher quality.
I have the same video he has, it's the highest quality right now. It's hard to make things out in the copy we have.
Ah, I see. Ok. Still, I imagine it's higher quality than the youtube link.
Slightly, but not much better.
